I died. I died and now I'm floating in a dark space.
I remember how I died. The mascot that was hired for the event didn't show up and since I was the youngest among the employees in our department, I was tasked to temporarily fill the space 'til the company finds another. But the thing I didn't know was that 'Temporary' was going to be 6 hours exposed in heat. I was so exhausted, tired and thirsty yet I can't rest because there were too many customers and kids trying to ask for pictures. I still stood up and showed that I was still energetic. My mind was holding on but it seems that my body wasn't able to. I just blinked and after that I was already here.
I immediately thought that I was dead. This isn't me daydreaming or anything, I was truly dead. That was what my heart truly felt at this time. I don't know how to explain but I can feel a deathly air that lingers around myself.
Now that I noticed, there are also others that are floating here but they seem to be falling in-line. I can't even see the end of the line so I don't know where they are going. Maybe I should ask them what's going on.
"Hey mister. Can I ask what is this line for?"
The mister looked back to me and he was smiling. His smile seemed surreal because it contained a hint of happiness and maliciousness. It makes me wonder how both of it exists in one smile.
"There is a god at the end of the line. He will reincarnate us in a world called Eidolos and give us a gift called 'system'. You should fall in line too, who knows you may get lucky and receive a powerful system."
I just nodded and proceeded to fall-in-line. After 10 years, I was finally able to see a glimpse of the end of the line. I can see a person sitting in a chair accommodating those people like me. He was
talking to the person at the other end of the line, and that person was suddenly covered by white light and disappeared. Then the next person, the next and the next. Same thing happened but what really got me was that it only took 5 seconds then it will be the next person. And I was in this line for 10 years! I don't really want to solve math right now but I am pretty sure its a big number of people.
The line progressed and progressed until it was only me and the mister left. It probably took an additional year to arrive here but now its okay because I will finally reincarnate.
"Hmmm you carry great destiny. You should have this system." The god said and the mister was covered with black and golden luster.
After the mister disappeared, he looked at me and exclaimed.
"Finally! The last one destined! Hmmm you have great character, unyielding personality which is also the cause of your death... wait I'm receiving a call."
A phone appeared in the hands of the god.
"Hello? This is Athos... hmmm.. yeah yeah... yes.. what?! Are you sure? Oh My Self! I'm finally getting off this job after a thousand epochs!" He put down his phone and faced me.
"Since you will be the last one I'll be giving my service, I'll give you something similar to my power. If you manage it well, you might also become a god!"
I was shocked by his words. A power that can make me a god if I manage it properly. It was exhilarating to think, but I shouldn't expect because I am sure that it will be a long and tough path before I become one.
After a second, white light covered my eyes. It was bright yet it doesn't really hurt my eyes.
The next second, the white light disappeared and what welcomed me was a giant female.
"Look at the crown prince! He's so healthy! And he bears the emperor's aura and it is as majestic as the current emperor, maybe even more as he grows up!" The female giant was shouting so loud that my ears hurt.
"Looks like this prince will lead our empire to even greater heights and achieve the unprecedented! We should inform the majesty that the empress has finished giving birth!" After that, the female giant motioned the others to run to the emperor.
It seems like I am reincarnated as a crown prince huh... I really don't like big responsibilities, but at least this guarantees that I will be safe until I grow up properly.
Then a man came, he was wearing a red robe that's designed with golden stripes. He also carries great aura within him.
"Where is my baby?! And my wife?!" The man questioned.
So this is the emperor, quite good looking so I am expecting to have good looks when I grow up too.
The female giant who was carrying me went near to the emperor.
"Your majesty this is the crown prince. As for the empress, she is currently resting inside her chamber. Her body was fragile but with enough rest, she will likely return to her peak strength within 5 days."
The emperor was looking at me with loving eyes. The way he looked at me felt so familiar, it was just like my father on earth was looking at me when I gave him a letter for father's day. The female giant handed me over to the emperor carefully.
"Shall we go and visit your mother?" The emperor asked me and I unconsciously nodded.
The emperor froze for a second then suddenly laughed.
"Hahaha, it seems like I will really have a great and smart successor! Now, we shall visit your beautiful mother and show her what great son she gave birth to."
After a few walks, the emperor finally arrived at a room.
"Cyline, do you wanna see our son?" The emperor asked.
"Oh come here faster, I wanna see my baby already." A female voice emerged. Although I wasn't able to see where it came from, I can feel that the person will be beautiful because of her charming voice.
The emperor walked near the bed and I finally saw my mother. She looked so exhausted and tired, yet her smile was so wide. She was also beautiful and her looks were on par with my father. The emperor handed me over and my mother looked so happy.
"Husband, what should we name him?" Mother asked.
"I was thinking of Lucien."
"You want him to be named after his grandfather?! Are you crazy?! Do you want me to kill you?!" Mother suddenly turned from being happy to violent that it shocked me. Looks like my mother is in a dominant position compared to my father.
"Hehe.. I was just suggesting. You should be the one to name him since we already promised it to each other before we got married." Although father seemed okay, I can still see him sweating at the side of his head so he must've been pretty nervous after my mother got angry.
"We should name him Astral, since he was born under the day that Great Astral Star emerged."
Astral, a great name. Now that I think of it, I don't remember my name from my last life at all. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise because I won't be confused.
A feeling of drowsiness hit me. I guess its time to sleep, and this newborn body really needs sleep I guess.
"Oh looks like our baby wants to sleep, I will accompany him. You should go and handle the empire's affairs properly, okay? If something goes wrong, you'll get hit by me."
I saw my father gulped then nodded fast and left running. I feel like laughing but the need of sleep overwhelmed me.
"Sleep well, my baby." That was the last words I heard before I went asleep.
