Lars took a deep breath as he tried to understand how the system works. The interface felt weird to Lars's, but for some unexplainable reason, he felt as though he had once used such a thing. Another popup appeared and it was an FAQ (Frequently asked Questions) for how the system rated equipment and item attributes that the user would use.
Level: An item's level is represented by a number in the top left of the icon in the system. The higher an item's level, the better stats it provides.
Rarity: An item's rarity is represented by the colour of the item icon. Better rarity items have significantly better stats than lower rarity items. There are six levels of rarities classified by the system; Worn (White), Standard(Green), Superior(Blue), Epic(Purple), Mythic(Orange) and Legendary (Red).
Quality: Quality is represented by the number of dots at the bottom of the item icon; items will have either 1, 2, or 3 dots to show their tier. An item's quality will also be represented in its name, depending on the type of item. For Talismans, Tier 1(Faded), Tier 2 (Luminous) and Tier 3 (Radiant), for Glyphs Tier 1 (Crude), Tier 2 (Simple), Tier 3 (Intricate), for Weapons, Tier 1 (Mk I), Tier 2 (Mk II), Tier 3 (Mk III). The quality of items can by improved by imbuing items with Anima.
Based on the purple shade of the item in the neck talisman slot, the necklace that he picked up at that shop of all worlds was an Epic rarity item of the highest quality. Out our curiosity he tapped the necklace and a new detail information panel showed up.

A short beep sounded as the loading bar completed. Lars continued to look around the system, but he could not notice anything different. He thought to himself to leave the database mode, and returned to reality.
After dinner, Lars went to his room, sat down on his bed and started to think about everything that happened. Lars gently touched the necklace, that was when he felt a weird feeling from the base of his body. A flow of energy moved and circulated in his body, after one complete cycle, it gathered at his hand and was absorbed by the crystal. The heads up display of AEGIS showed a new notification.
Lars thought to open the notification and AEGIS read out;
"Quest: Learn to cultivate"
"…"
Lars's face darkened, humans had the least talent with Anima right? Why would you want me to learn to cultivate? What purpose would that achieve? Within the quest details it required Lars to read up about basic cultivation and understand the basics of Anima manipulation and then take a test by the system, the rewards were a system generated tier 3 cultivation technique, the rarity will depend on the grade he scored when he attempted the test that had been set by the system.
It honestly felt like a challenge from the system. As Lars was gifted with regards to studying, he decided to follow through with the system quest in spite of his doubts.
Lars spent the entire week in the clan library, looking and reading through every relevant book, article and report. When he completed this task, he ran over to a quiet corner of the library before setting AEGIS to database mode.
"Our wisdom flows so sweet. Taste and see."
"I want to take the test and complete the quest" Lars said, at that moment, every other floating screen in AEGIS disappeared and a large blank screen appeared before Lars.
"Commencing Test, please verify"
The screen showed the words START, Y/N.
Lars selected Y and quickly went about solving the questions in the test. After an hour, a system notification buzzed.
"Congratulations user, for achieving a perfect score, system dispensing rewards."
The floor space in dataspace mode expanded slightly, a small bookshelf appeared, on it was an old book. Lars looked at the bookshelf, and tried the 'Record function' of AEGIS. His heads up display immediately started feeding him information about the old book. The red highlight made Lars very excited.

Name: The Immaculate Circulation
Rarity: Legendary
Quality: Radiant
Elusive cultivation used by Gaia and her chosen. This method is said to have been derived by observing the sleep cycle of the Dreaming Ones in the First Age. Rare in the Second Age, many Third Age cultivation methods including the Four Great Circulations in use by many different species are said to have taken ideas or outright copied bits and pieces of their techniques from this. In the Fourth Age, the best human techniques cannot even compare to this. Many techniques are said to be watered down clones of what little copied techniques that survived the Third Age. Practicing this technique will allow the user to hardness the full potential of Anima. This cultivation method requires the user to have a high affinity to Anima.
-
Lars felt his face cramp, this was very likely the mother of all cultivation techniques, the original cultivation technique, but how was he supposed to use it?
Humans had the worst affinity with Anima.
At this point, he felt that the AEGIS system was no different when compared to an antique library card, one that only allowed him to borrow expired books.
