18th day of the Second Month of the Burning Sun, year 371 a.G.C.
It has been quite a hectic few days! I had decided to not write until we arrive to our destination, but I feel like writing today, as it has been quite a fun ride and I tend to be forgetful when so many things happens.
Well, first I got to meet the crew on this boat, we all eat together as cooking isn't really hard for us even if we are in the middle of nowhere, one of the perks of being able to use magic!
A few curious people asked me about my first day fight with the Vice Captain of this ship, who I have finally known his name, which is Leonardo Arp. I mostly just answered it was a misunderstanding that it happened and all that, some teased me quite a bit... it just so happens that I am the youngest person here, hah.
Well, one of those that I have gotten closest with is a guy called Gael Hilt, he is pretty much a straightforward warrior, seemingly at his mid twenties and looked quite strong, though he can't use magic at all besides a bit of reinforcement, but he can use Warrior Aura quite well. He has told me quite a lot about the the Vice Capt. It seems he was a very renowned Knight, but because of a mission going wrong almost all his Battalion died or were heavily injured. It was told that when he came reporting back his whole body was full of blood as he brought as many people as he could back.
I couldn't help but feeling shivers when I heard that. What kind of existence did they have to battle against to end up in such a sorry state? Even when he is so strong, it seems it was futile...
He also told me more details about the place where we were going, some that I knew and others that I didn't. We would be joining one of the camps erected by the Army after having a quick asses and join a platoon of people in which we would form squads. We would train with the Military, and engage in reconnaissance missions in this place along with explorations of ruins while watching out if there is another civilization, which, from the information gathered, is quite sure there is. Our main mission would be to ascertain if they are hostile or not, and we would have to watch our own feet for that.
We will be given provision to keep our livelihood well, and be paid monthly, with bonuses if we were to fair well in missions or other stuff...
Oh well, I am rambling too much on these! While I have met a lot of people these days, what has me on edge now are the sea battles!
We have fought against a fair share of monsters and sea beasts that have attacked our ship. Thankfully everyone here organize pretty well, and while it was a bit rough at first, we already got used to it after the fourth attack. Even more when it is the Vice Capt finishing off the really strong enemies. Battling on the ocean is really thrilling!
Many times monster boarded the ships, they don't have much of a terrestrial body, but their ferociousness can be imagined, some of them have Octopus-like bodies, very huge and able to move easily, others have quadrupedal bodies, using with their claws and jaws along with their tails, or horns, to attack us. Some of them can use a bit of magic or even Warrior Aura! I was extremely surprised at that and barely managed to dodge a few close calls along with Brian and Hugh. Those monsters were quite tricky and caused a lot of injuries, adding to that they were very strong! Even more so when they just attacked from a distance inside the water with magic. If it wasn't because of our own magic users, our boat would have sank long ago!
The most eye-catching one was a sea serpent. It was about 15 meters long and it mostly stayed inside the water. It was the only time that sir Leonardo had to join the battle, if not there would have been casualties in the crew. It's magic and body almost sank us, as it could generate huge waves, while also throwing electrical attacks from it's mouth occasionally. It was truly a monster like battle. I could barely see the Vice Captain moving, even less to perceive his actions! Every time his sword moved, it would curve the Serpent's magical attack. Very calmly and slowly he took the enemies attention in a losing pace, and then, suddenly, it was as if the world was split. That huge monster's head slid off its body when it was going to do another thunder-like attack. It truly sent shivers to my body.
I also helped with the protection of the lower part of the ship, as it needed magic reinforcement so our attackers wouldn't take us from below. There were installations that used magic and new technology to create an active protection and also to attack the monsters. It seemed simple to use when I saw the original crew members of the boat, but, when I joined to assist, it was incredibly hard, and that was only managing the magic systemic parts, or so they said. I couldn't even use the instruments.
One of them laughed at me and told me I would get the hang of it with due time, as it did take even them a a bit of practice to use it comfortably. I never thought using your own magic as a generator would be that hard!
Because of the constant fights, the whole crew has become even closer. I have been taught quite a few things along with Brian and Hugh, who have had practice partners every day. Of course, me too, heh. Learning new ways of using the Warrior Aura along with magic has helped me quite a bit to be able to not lag behind the other people here when it comes to defending this place, though I always end up without breath by the end, haha...
But I have surely improved! I can feel it, and I can also sense it from my friends, we have managed to cross over walls that we couldn't before, or didn't even know they existed.
Though, even after all of this, I still haven't seen the Captain of this ship. I have been told its a lady that seems to be in her twenties, but she doesn't appear very often, unless it is absolutely necessary. I wonder how strong she is, and by her age, she must be extremely talented if she was put above sir Leonardo.
Well, I think that sums quite a bit of today. I am being called to train again, so I will end it here.
It has been a thrilling adventure already, I wonder how much more it will be later!
