Chapter 111 - Rise (2)

Five hundred years ago, there was a purge of the races besides the human race. However, the humans encountered a huge obstacle to their cause. The Empire of the Beasts. It was a very powerful nation that conquered almost half of the main continent of Locruna. The huge sea monsters were even subdued and showed their fealty to the Empire.

It was an Empire that was filled with strong warriors and their forts against invaders were sturdy. They won battles after battles, and made their citizens live and laugh in peace. It was truly a formidable opponent.

The humans, who believed that humans were superior to all other races, made a great sacrifice. Children died in the offering until one emerged from the pile of corpses. It had an incredible amount of Light Energy that seemed to equal that of the Emperor of the Empire of the Beasts' Dark Energy. It was the birth of their very first Hero. However, that child was devoid of emotion and reason. It was as if he was dead. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, he could be controlled with a little help from the very entity that they offered to. They began annihilating the forts made by the beasts by making the child lead them towards victory. Towards their sweet success of claiming the fertile land of the damnable beasts. Aside from the dwindling resources of the humans due to their greed, there was nothing they could hope to claim so terribly.

Months became a year, and a year became a decade. That was how long the fight of the humans lasted against the beasts. It was a grueling Great War until the Emperor finally surrendered and asked for peace. He became desperate after his eyes opened and realized that there was nothing in this war for them. So, he offered half of his Empire's produce as a means of reconciliation. However, he was captured. Instead of fighting, he let himself be caught. He didn't want any more casualties to be made against his pride. His people dwindled and the lands were also slowly being damaged.

However, it was an incredible mistake. He saw the humans of his Empire that colluded with the enemy standing before him, ready to spit on his face. Furthermore… His own aide was there. A special metal was shown before him. He knew that metal. It was mithril. He couldn't break it down once it cuffed him and chained. He wasn't the type to break down a sturdy metal or even use his Dark Energy to corrode it. He firmly believed that the research of his Dark Energy was not made to destroy the world and harm people.

He was led towards a clearing where his remaining loyal subjects stood rooted before him. Moreover, they were all humans. The beasts were no more. It was, at least, what he thought of.

The Emperor of the Beasts' eyes clouded as tears streamed down his cheeks. He could feel it, the presence of his enemies other than the humans. The dragons. These creatures weren't just an obstacle to the humans. Those were like a natural disaster that couldn't be stopped. His steps faltered as he saw a huge black hole appear before him. His eyes widened, pupils contracted. He instantly knew that it was Dark Energy. He held no doubt that it would destroy everything on its path. He looked one last time at his loyal subjects. Their eyes were strong, indeed. They were prepared to die beside the Emperor. Then and there, they were pushed and were never seen once more.

From that day on, the sun never rose again.

Its sudden disappearance made the planet change drastically.

Finally, more than five hundred years passed. The planet's exterior became too cold for humans to live on the surface. Having abandoned their base of operations and moving underground, the mithril they used against enemies were used as a currency since the mana of the planet multiplied greatly that it became murky. It was also one of the reasons why they didn't try to live on the surface anymore. Since the high concentration of mana in the planet, it became a treasure trove for mithril that only formed in place with high concentration of mana.

It was peaceful until the fateful day arrived.

A woman and a man suddenly appeared on the icy surface of the planet. The woman had pitch black wings on her back that were made with mana and qi. It was so condensed that it appeared real and produced real feathers. It was so unusual.

They killed monsters left and right that their population dwindled in one of the human bases. Faria, the mighty dragon that measured for almost a kilometer, sensed this movement. A great disturbance that was meant to happen sooner or later. So, she sent out her powerful commanders to chase after the Mother of Dragons, Gerania, as a first step towards her goal to eliminate all the humans in the face of Locruna. The humans would be out if she waited more patiently. When the other dragon with Gerania escaped along with her eggs, she expected it and sent cronies after that abnormality of a dragon. She gritted her teeth in envy against Gerania. She could produce powerful offspring, while Faria couldn't.

However… She failed to eliminate the babies and the abnormality of a dragon, and they even came under another abnormal person. Moreover, it was the woman who had this strange crystal on her forehead and a crown so black that a light couldn't even reflect.

Now, she was paying for her actions when that very person appeared before her with a light clothing. She didn't have armor or the likes, and only had one weapon in her hand. She even dared enter so casually through the door that only the dragons could move. Her irritation peaked and tried crushing the person before her with her gravitational energy. However, the woman only stepped forward and it immediately brought down a crack on the floor that could sustain the weight of a kilometer long dragon. It was so unreal that Faria panicked. She needed time to change into her desirable form, but this human woman wouldn't even let Faria do what she had to do. When the woman delivered a firm punch on her feet, Faria could feel her bones crack. No, it really cracked. After experiencing extreme pain for the very first time, it left her muddled. She roared so loud as her anger flared.

Next thing Faria knew, she was already hopeless. She couldn't even bring out her full potential and destructive power in front of a powerful foe. So, she used her last ditch effort. She would bring the woman down with her in an explosion of mana that she accumulated for more than three hundred years; it was also the length of her life.

However, instead of an explosion, only gas came out of her body that left her baffled. She died the next moment under the glaring brightness of the sun without knowing the cause of her death.

Emersyn was already planning on eliminating the dragon that ruled the surface of Locruna even before Ignis and Carnash pleaded to her. Since the dragon would impede her with her progress in nursing back this realm they called demonic. She noticed that the land was fertile after five hundred years of glaciation. Moreover, it was even capable of rearing plants that would contain vast amounts of mana. So, she led the people that recently joined her land to the place where they could plant new crops and fruits that could withstand the cold temperature. Since she couldn't do anything about the temperature without using her energy. After all, she wasn't meant to stay here. She would eliminate all potential threats against these people's survivability, and teach them once more to plant crops in the planet that finally returned to normalcy.

When she finally came back after dismantling the corpse of Faria and freeing the dragons from their cells, they went home to where the capital of the Demonic Realm was, and where the huge castle of the Demon Lord and its surrounding palaces.

They arrived in a procession with Yvri on the lead. There were wings sprouted from his back and he used it to glide to the air. While Emersyn just watched the baby play on his own. When he caught sight of the castle, he immediately squealed and flapped his wings, leaving the band of humanoid dragons and beasts behind. Once they caught sight of the spitting image of the castle from five hundred years ago, they grew solemn and afraid. According to the ancient records, it was the enemy's castle that belonged to the Demon Lord who could fight toe to toe with their previous ruler of the sky. They must be eliminated. However, they were now in the position where it was whether they obey or be killed. They had no choice but to live to the expectations of the being before them that were leading the procession in easy steps, as if that the dragons behind her were of no threat to her existence.
