Chapter 79 - Confused Heart

They flew in the direction of Satella and reached there in a short moment. Malakas' speed in the sky really was something to marvel at.

Jumping off Malakas, he instructed the two of them to go somewhere else and not to spy on them.

Looking at the place he landed, he sighed.

"Is this what it feels like to have 'butterflies' in your stomach?" He wandered.

The area they had flown to was desolate, except for one river. A girl was sat on the edge of the river looking into the sky. Her silver hair slowly moving to the breeze, giving the perception that she was an ethereal being. It was as if a scene like this couldn't exist in real life.

The moon was the only thing that kept them company, which made his advance towards her easier than he thought. The ground beneath his feet felt thick and flocculent, as if he could sink in at any moment. One wrong step, and the ground would swallow him whole.

He came next to her and dipped his feet into the river. Below him, the mellow spring water embraced his feet as he awkwardly took a seat next to her.

"Hey." The words barely came out, which made it sound like a whisper. The awkwardness of his greeting made him want to smack himself.

Raikou didn't know why he was feeling like this, but the realisation had hit him during his battle with Maria. Even after she tried to kill him, he was reluctant to pay her the same level of respect, because of Satella. While he was fighting, all he could thinking about was what she would think of him if he killed her mother.

"What do I do now?" He thought.

She turned her head towards him and smiled. "What are you doing here?"

"I just met with your mother. It didn't go well at all."

A giggle was heard from her, as she spoke. "I kind of know what happened. The link between us gets stronger, the closer we are, and as it is something created from my end, I have more control over it."

His eyes widened in surprise. However, his shock was less from her knowing his every move in close proximity, and more about the fact that she was still talking to him with such serenity after that altercation.

"And yes, I could even feel your emotions. It was hard not to. They were so strong in those moments." She blushed.

He slowly dragged his hand over to hers. She didn't move away, which was a good sign.

"Is this my chance?" His heart was confused on what to do. "Fight or flight, this is my chance."

Leaning in, he went forward to kiss her. Blue eyes stared back at him as she didn't reject his advances.

Their lips were about to touch when Raikou heard a scream.

Turning around, he saw a man falling from the sky and squealing like a child. As the man got closer, Raikou saw his face.

"Son of a bitch!" It was Ghost.

Malakas came flying down and caught him on his back. They landed next to the two and awkwardly stood there.

Ghost scratched his head in embarassment. "I got a bit excited while he was flying and decided to stand up and not hold on. As you can see, it didn't work out too well."

"Piece of fucking shit!" Raikou felt like crying. He was so close, but so far at the same time. His stupid companions ruined the blissful moment.

Looking over, he saw Satella giggling at the scene.

"You guys are a lively bunch." She remarked.

He could tell that the moment was over, but for the first time, he had a connection to someone that wasn't friendship or familial.

"We might as well hop on his back and go for a ride. If you haven't experienced it, then believe me, you are in for a rush." Taking her hand into his, he pulled her onto Malakas and they began flying through the sky.

The wind blew into their faces as they held hands.

"This is fucking amazing!" Ghost shouted. Interrupting their moment once again.

"I am going to fuck you up later!" He transmitted his voice into Ghost's head, which made him quietly sit back down.

"Spoilsport." Ghost mumbled.

"What did you say?"

"Ahem. Nothing, I said nothing at all."
