While Connor was learning the Elemental Sword, Beth had appeared in the middle of a war. Thousands upon thousands of people where fighting and dying around her, and she wandered through the battlefield like a ghost. No one could see her, and when she tried to block a blow that would've killed her it passed through her body as if she didn't exist. Confused and angry, Beth yelled out, "COME ON! I'M SO BORED!"
Several hours later, Beth was fed up. As cool as it is to watch a fight up close and personal, she'd always been the hands on type. To her being unable to fight in such a magnificent melee constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. Finally, everyone had died and for the last hour she'd been bored out of her mind. Just as she was about to give up and try to find a way to log out, a voice echoed throughout the battlefield.
"Death is but an illusion!"
It was as if the voice opened a door into her very soul and with a shattering sound information flooded her brain.
"REBIRTH FROM A DROP OF BLOOD!" The voice yelled so loudly that her ears started ringing.
All around her, everyone who had died was reviving, picking up their weapons and readying themselves for a fight to the death. This time around, Beth was among them.
'Heaven must be like this.' Beth thought to herself as she used her Spiritual Greatsword that was enchanted to recover durability when drenched in blood, to cut a man's head in half. She dropped the greatsword and rolled to the left, pulling out a sledgehammer and using it to uppercut the man who'd just tried to run her through with a spear from behind.
Putting her hammer away, she picked her greatsword back up and charged into the melee yelling her warcry, "DECAPITATORS!!!"
Even as she fought, she went over the information that'd flooded her brain the first time the voice spoke. She was currently in a hidden dimension meant to train the ancient berserkers, they would fight to the death over and over again until they gained enlightenment into the Law of Rebirth. The law was the reason for their reputation as unkillable, the highest level of attainment in the law giving you the ability to be reborn from a single drop of blood.
This makes the berserkers nearly impossible to kill as they would leave their blood behind everywhere they go, their blood staining battlefields across the planes. In the end, the berserkers didn't die out but rather moved on. For generations, there'd been no one capable or willing to go through the process to become one of them and their strength had far surpassed Earth and 2nd Chance. Finally, they moved to the front lines where their tireless strength was one of the main reasons Earth still existed.
To Beth, the training method of the berserker wasn't the torture it was for all the people stuck fighting in the hidden dimension. Here, all the possible recruits in history continued to fight until they finally managed to glimpse the Law of Rebirth or their soul shattered. These thousands upon thousands of people had been stuck here, fighting for who knows how long.
Honestly, Beth was a bit envious of them. Only her family and friends could've made her leave such a heavenly place.
Hours passed, and Beth finally died for the first time. Her body one of thousands littering the never ending battlefield. Despite her body dying, her soul was protected by the special energy of the hidden dimension which allowed her to stay conscious and spend more time studying the information given to her.
'Laws are the fundamental rules of all existence, and the goal of all cultivator's is to further their understanding of them. The Law of Rebirth is considered to be a medium tier law, with low-tier laws consisting of the Elemental Laws like the Law of Fire. High-tier laws are never replicated and belong only to a singular being. The only way to create a High-Tier law is to combine several low and medium tier laws together. The Law of Rebirth focuses on the aspect of body cultivating that allows you to heal any injury so long as you have enough energy. To fully understand the Law of Rebirth is to make your body unkillable, leaving only your soul as a vulnerability.
Lost in the flood of information, Beth almost missed it when the blood spilling from her body came to life. A single drop of it started to glow with an incredible vitality as it expanded and replicated at incredible speeds. Focusing her entire being on the process, she was shook awake when the voice returned.
"REBIRTH FROM A DROP OF BLOOD!"
Standing up, she watched in amazement as the body she used to inhabit broke down into Elemental Energy and was absorbed into her new body. Reaching down, she grabbed her Greatsword and grinned wickedly. Maybe this is why berserkers were famous for their incredible proficiency with all weapons, in order to train the Law of Rebirth they had to spend an incredible amount of time fighting to the death over and over again.
Diving back into the frey with a giant smile on her face, she thought once again, 'Too bad my friends and family aren't here. If they were, I'd never leave.'
Perhaps it was because of her incredible enjoyment of the process, or maybe she was just born to be a berserker, but after dying for the third time she felt herself being reborn faster than the time before it. She was so lost in contemplating what she'd felt that she didn't even notice when a massive form slammed a hammer into her head and smashed her into the ground not 10 minutes later. Yet, she stood back up and kept fighting even faster than the time before.
Again and again Beth died, unable to exert her full strength in combat because she was lost in that feeling of rebirth. Finally, after dying nearly 40 times in less than 3 days she actually was able to choose which drop of blood she was reborn from.
It was as if a lightning bolt had struck her and she sat down in the middle of battle, ignoring everyone around her. Closing her eyes, she focused on the blood all around her. Feeling every drop of blood in her body, the blood running down her leg as she bled disappeared and turned into elemental energy before rushing back into her body as she focused on it.
Something in her soul broke open, and Elemental Energy flooded her. She broke through again and again, reaching the 5th layer of body refining from the peak of the third layer in an instant. Meanwhile, a drop of blood made out of pure Elemental Energy formed in her soul and slowly blended into it. Crying out in pain, the drop of blood branded her soul as it evaporated.
The last thing she remembered before waking up in the infirmary at Gifted Academy was the face of the man who the statue was made in likeness of, and that deep voice from the battlefield resonating through her soul, "Welcome, little sister."
