Chapter 19 - Interlude - Principal Hubert's Nightmare

'Normally, I love my job.' I thought to myself as I watched the nearly 200 students laying in cots in the gym. 'But this is starting to get old.'

Reports of the snow getting as deep as 15 feet in some places had come in, along with several reports of roofs collapsing under the weight of the snow. Of course, the cops couldn't get anywhere to help, so several people would die in this storm. "And this is just the beginning." I spoke to myself as I walked to my own cot. Of course, the school didn't have to worry about it's roof collapsing. I smiled to myself, remembering the look of disgust on Ms. Johansons' face when I brought it up. Next thing I knew, a formation magically appeared on the roof keeping all snow away.

Thinking back, I remembered the chaotic events of Friday and sighed wistfully. 'I wish I'd kept the scholarship kid's around. At least I could've started teaching them early. Instead, I'm just stuck here doing nothing.' Looking around at the kids that were stuck in the school with him, he sighed 'At least these kid's will likely grow strong enough to help... eventually.'

The problem about forcing the awakening on people is that it hurt's the potential of many. If they're close enough to breaking through naturally, then it's no big deal as long as it's done carefully. Even if they're not close, the damage can be repaired by a sufficiently competent healer. None of my kids would have to worry about overcoming permanent damage to their energy vessels. However, that doesn't mean every school or awakening center for adults will have a competent healer. No, most will have to begin their journey of cultivation while carrying a crippling injury. Of course, if they manage to reach a high enough level their bodies will be reborn and the injury will disappear. Also, their are plenty of treasures that can repair the damage. It sucks to have to start out at a worse position, but that's life and it's better than the alternative.

Sighing, I shook my head. 'I should just try and get some rest and stop thinking about this, when classes start back up I'll be able to guide the next generation of heroes. This time, they'll even get the recognition they deserve.'

That was when his phone rang, surprised that it even had service in the middle of such a major storm, he pulled it out and realized that it wasn't his phone but his new implant that was ringing. Despite his strength, even he needed an implant to return to 2nd Chance. Checking the ID, his face blanched as he saw it's owner.

"Master! I haven't heard from you in ages."

"Hmmph, don't think that just because you ran away to Earth I haven't been keeping tabs on you!"

"Master, what's this about?" I decided to get to the point, otherwise we'd spend the next half an hour with him complaining about how I ran away leaving him all alone with his family.

"Ohh, nothing much. Cynthia say's she misses you and wants to come for a visit."

I shivered, remembering Master's daughter who tries to jump me every time I see her, "Master, you know I'm engaged, right?"

"Psh, who cares about such things. Polygamy is the way to go! Anyways, that's not why I'm calling. Apparently, one of your kids managed to impress one of those old monsters. Just wanted to let you know, someone will be coming over to help train and keep an eye on him."

"Master, aren't you one of those old monster's too?" I said, knowing that'd just piss him off.

"Please, I'm barely past 10,000 years old. I'm still young! Just for that, I'll be coming to visit, and Cynthia's coming too. I think I might just engage her to you, lets just make it official. Don't think I don't know about all those late night hook ups..." Then he hung up.

'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO'
