Of course, that hit-and-run strategy wouldn't exterminate the roach horde, or even greatly weaken them pebble-like critters. It only created an opening at best.
But that didn't matter to Oli. He wasn't trying to fight. Neither were Kako or Yeter, for once. At that moment, their only goal was to climb up to the next floor. Not to waste their precious time and essence facing the textbook definition of endless, unkillable pests.
"O-ow!" Kako yelped and swatted away the roach biting his thigh.

An earth wall rose behind them the instant all three team members entered the narrow, diagonal passage.
"Don't stop moving!" Oli boldly commanded, still clobbering through every protruding bump or ridge in their way. "Before the roaches eat their way through and catch up!"
Yeter kept as close to Oli as possible. Mainly due to the fact that it was as far as he could go without outrunning the leader.
