A bunch of numbers suddenly appear above Kana and James head. James health bar bumps up to full while Kana's decreased by about 5%. The rune is Kana's hand didn't glow with white color like the usual instead it's become a bit denser with a dark red color. And unlike normal rune when it disappears after you finish casting it hers stay afloat but turns colorless.
"Did I just .....?" Kana said shuttering
"Kana sis, you did it!!! YOU CAST A SPELL!!!" Alice jump towards Kana hugging her from behind
"How did you do that?"
"I don't know... I just cast it as I do in training. I even try to cast it when you guys fighting a while back then but I failed. I don't know how but somehow this time I did it."
"Well, it doesn't matter, success is a success, right Albert?"
"It's still important to know what makes it successful this time and with this successful sample, we can find a way to help her to do it consistently. Also if she can consistently cast heal then we'll have an easier time hunting the rabbit. But what you said is not wrong either, success is a success. Congratulations on your first time casting spell, Kana."
After Kana successfully cast a healing spell on James she tries to do that once again on Alice and James skeleton. Alice hp bar didn't decrease that much after the fight but it's still make Kana happy when her HP bar bumps up to full. She failed to heal the skeleton but I cheer her up and told her maybe there's a different concept on healing a summoned unit.

"I'm really confused, why does it work this time? I try really hard for 4 days and still failed but I did it this time."
"Don't overthink it; You already followed the step to cast a spell previously in Ms. Layla class. I can tell by the way your rune glow, you're already more accomplished in the said steps compare to other students in the class."
"Then why can I cast it when I try it in class?"
"I don't know maybe it's something really simple that we miss. Targets maybe? In Ms. Layla class you don't really target your heal right? You only cast it without a specific target on who to cast."
Kana ponder a bit but in the end, she shakes her head
"I don't think that's the reason. Even though you're right that I don't cast it on a specific target in Ms. Layla class; I try to cast it on James when she fights the rabbit but it still failed."
"Is it range? In RPG games when you failed to cast a spell the main reasons is either lack of mana or out of range; There are more that can cause a spell to fail but that two are the main reason, right? James put forward his best analysis referencing to RPG games.
"You're right, why did I not think of that. Kana uses her HP as her mana resources so there's no way she lacks mana. She did cast it when she's near us. Should we try it?"
Before I finish Kana's already about 5m behind us trying to cast heal again but unfortunately she failed again. She tries again and again until we found out that she can only cast it if she touches her target. Although that is not great news at least she found out how to cast it.
Maybe later there's a way to modify it so she can cast it in range but for now we just happy that she can cast a spell. After our short break, we continue to hunt horned rabbit for the next 3 and a half hours. We change our strategy and let the skeleton tank the damage while Alice and James do their best to kill it.
As a result, James and Alice didn't take too much damage and can be healed by Kana after they finish the fight. We took 3 more breaks in between to let Kana regen back the HP that she used for healing. James used 2 of the MP potions we have so that he can maintain the skeleton and summon it again after it died.
After 3 hours most of our small inventory is full of rabbit carcasses and we decided to head back. In total, we collect 72 horned rabbit corpse and 300+ Earth Chives. After the hunt, I got pumped up and really can't wait when I can fight together with my party.
'I really hope I can walk again, soon! My legs already feel a lot better and I can move it more fluidly. But mother said I still need to go to rehab to treat my muscle so it can hold my weight after 10 years not being used.'
We got quite a bit of exp for killing horned rabbits and so we run to the village to empty our inventory before we head back to the rabbit's field. The quest requires us to collect rabbit horned so we went to Mr. Theo shop and ask him to cut the rabbit for us.
His stall is quite busy unlike before when he got no customer at all; It took us 30 minutes to queue before he accommodate us. Luckily he works efficiently and the way he handles his knife is really brilliant.
He cut the rabbit abdomen vertically and pull out all the inside before he hangs it to let the blood out. He cut rabbit after rabbit and after he finishes the last one he pick the first that he cut and start skin it before gave all the material to us. He charges us 10 copper per rabbit and we pay him 400 copper up front because that's all the money that we have.
We promise him to pay him after we hand over the material to the town hall and he agrees to it. James and Alice went inside to submit all the material we collect. After we made the rabbit corpses into materials James and Alice can fit all of it in their inventory.
James and Alice come out 1 silver and 350+ copper richer but after paying Mr. Theo what we owe we ended up with a bit less than 1 silver and some rabbit materials left over. The town hall purchase the rabbit horned for 10 copper each and 2 copper each for the Earth Chives. We sell the rest of rabbit materials in the village; the leather shop willing to buy undamaged rabbit skin for 4 copper each and we make about 200 copper selling rabbit meat along with the bone to Mr. Theo.
Before we realize it's already almost 4'clock so we decided against going to the field again. After today we have 1 silver and 450 coppers and we also raise our EXP bar.
