Chapter 52 - Counterattack

"Hey! You could still talk, huh!"

Slightly apprehensive, Kisig waved his hand to stop his friends from moving close to the boy. He already pocketed the gem they stole but this boy was gathering too much 'mist' that they might have to run fast before he released it, affecting even them, or he absorbed it which would make this boy strong but wild, unable to control his actions.

The previously described tough men stared wide-eyed as the boy still continued to gather the 'mists' around him. Slowly, they stepped back to the alley, ready to dash past it and into the busy market.

"Hey! What are you doing? You could die if you keep gathering all the 'mists'!"

"Sh-should we leave now?"

Meanwhile, the wounds on the boy's body had already healed. He knew that what he was doing was dangerous but he could not possibly defeat all four men in front of him if he had no enough energy.

Besides, his hunger triggered his own emotions, enough to exude his own strong 'mist'. Moreover, he had not eaten for days and the energy he had now was from the remaining gems he had taken with him for this travel.

When he arrived with his companion in this island, they just escaped from a vicious storm that almost wrecked the ship they were sailing with. After the storm, the crew of the ship threw them both into the water, thinking that their bad luck was due to his companion.

Another bad news was that the storm led the ship off their planned course, making them stay in the water longer. They still followed the ship, albeit at a farther distance since the crew kept pelting them with rocks and arrows, saying that their ship would encounter another misfortune if they kept following them.

If only his friend could fly them but its wing was wounded when they encountered a flock of carnivorous birds when they were still travelling on land. When they thought that they could finally rest once they arrived on Kanan Island, they noticed that most of their stuff were replaced by rocks and garbage except for the small pouch hanging on the boy's neck. They realized that the crew actually stole from them and probably planned to throw them off even if they did not encounter a storm. Thinking back on it, the boy should never have trusted a cheap pay for travelling on their ship, except it was the only one who agreed to let his companion onboard.

Currently, the boy's companion was slowly healing on an abandoned hut near the sea. These young ones found it after exploring a little. Since it was near the sea, they thought that it would be easy to get food by fishing because they didn't see any abundant forest in the area for hunting.

That day, before setting off to find other ways to travel or find food in the market, they decided to go fishing for their food. Unfortunately again, most of the fishes were carnivorous and catching one as they dived in the water led to an attack of many. After running away, they now thought of buying food with their remaining gems.

Despite its great healing ability, the creature's wounds were too many to heal after only a few days so it stayed in the hut while the boy set off alone. It was also regrettable that it could not get the same amount of energy from the life gem it could get from the lava. Now, their remaining gems were also stolen.

Thinking of his grievances added to the gathering emotions of the boy. Seeing the gathered 'haze', the men watching looked at each other, their faces pale. What had they gotten themselves into?! Had this boy gone crazy?!

Without wating for any signal, these 'tough' looking men turned to run hastily to get out of the secluded alley. That was also the time when the boy moved.

As he was used to when he hunts, the boy remained quiet as he moved, then dashed forward quickly behind one of the men trying to escape. Fortunately, these men were already weakened by the 'mist' in the area unlike the intelligent beasts he often encountered which could use the life 'mist' in the forest to strengthen themselves.

Like hunting an animal, he hit this one on a vulnerable spot, the side of its neck, so it would lose consciousness and its suffering as well as the 'mist' it expelled would be minimal.

Fortunately, the boy was not too lost in all the 'haze' of emotion he absorbed to actually kill these men. The man only lost consciousness, then immediately after, without checking the status of the first prey, the boy moved behind another man, confident of his actions.

The boy also had experience fighting a herd of animals. Therefore, the situation was not difficult for him to catch everyone especially when all his prey were running in the same direction.

The last one almost reached the end of the alley before he felt a chill run down his back. Earlier, he was the one in the last position as the group ran, making him the first target. Fortunately for him, he had the gem they stole so he absorbed some of the life 'mist' inside it to run faster. Soon, he could see several people walking under the brighter light of the market with no walls blocking the sun. A second later, all he could see was darkness.

The fight this time lasted for only a few seconds. Afterwards, four pretty men as well as one small, pale-faced boy were lying on the ground. The boy was still conscious as he sighed with relief. He just had to rest for a while, then find the gem he lost earlier before trying to buy food for his friend again.

He didn't know how long he had been resting but the sound of footsteps alerted him. Should there not be any more men left? Suddenly afraid as he knew he could not fight anymore, his eyes slightly opened and he felt like he saw a familiar pair of eyes staring back at him.

"Uncle?"
