Chapter 9 - Sect Protector

Everyone turned towards the massive slapping sound to find the second young master of the Iron-panther sect's face swollen red like a pig's head. And an angry looking youth standing in front of him breathing heavily.

"You dare cause trouble for brother Rog?! He is an honoured guest of our sect. I will definitely report this to the patriarch" The youth sternly said.

The youth appeared to be Krendell who seemed slightly flustered.

"h...honoured guest?! " The second young master repeated before pointing at Rog. "Him?!" He said with a hint of madness.

The immense shock he faced caused him to spurt a massive wave of blood.

"Krendell?" Rog exclaimed as he recognised the man who slapped the second young master, "how did you find us?".

"I was just entering through the gates before I saw guards locked in a circle." Krendell explained. "I checked what this was about and then saw brother Rog and the woman you were with earlier".

"Ohh.... thank you Krendell, if it wasn't for you there would be trouble" said Rog in relief.

"This is nothing" Krendell smiled. "Come along, let me show you where I live" he continued as he beckoned the duo.

"James....for what you did today go sit in the hall of contemplation for a day. This matter will be known by father" Krendell coldly harrumphed.

"He does sound like a young master now" thought Rog silently. Felicia who was afraid of being recognised was hesitating to follow krendell until she finally gave in.

As Krendell brought the duo towards the Iron-panther sect's pavilion, a middle aged man hid in the crowd staring at the trio with a smile.

He brought out a crystal before sending a message into it alerting the cloud king.

A few minutes later, a happy reply emerged into the crystal asking him to watch over them as the princess could get acquainted with the first young master.

The middle aged man replied affirmatively before melding back into the shadows.

The Iron-panther sect was the biggest establishement near the city spanning dozens of miles of fertile land that is rich in energy. Anybody that cultivates their energy there would benefit greatly.

Krendell brought them into a luxurious room and served many delicacies infront of them with utmost hospitality. Stunned by the fact that such a rich young master would struggle for a monster core, Rog couldn't help but inquire why he would do that despite being soo rich.

"The value of that grade 3 monster core outstrips any thee grade 3 monster core" said Krendell, shaking his head in sadness. "Three of my dear friends ventures with me to gain experience as warriors and ended up dying in the hands of a grade three tiger."

"So I vowed to extract it's core in vengeance. However, a band of adventurers tried to steal it from me". Continued Krendell "and as I escaped with heavy wounds, I was saved by you".

"And seeing that you can fight with spells, I just thought that you would find a great deal of resources in our sect if you haven't already joined one." Said krendell, finally reaching his point.

The powers he got from the Immortal's diary is alot different from spells that fighters use. His powers don't require him to learn any specific spells and simply comes during a time of need as he had noticed earlier.

Just when the bandits tried to extort Felicia, Rog recieved the light shot skill. So his moves would be greatly different.

Just then, the Immortal's diary trembled in his mind. He closed his eyes and interfaced with it to find his heart trembling.

"Amazing" exclaimed Rog inwardly before snapping back to reality and looking at Krendell.

"What happens if I join your sect?" Inquired Rog.

As if expecting the question Krendell smiled "Don't worry, you won't lose your freedom. Given that you can cast spells which is a rare occupation in this continent, all you need to do is protect the clan if there is conflict." Having a happy glint in his eyes krendell continued "furthermore, you can mobilise the sect army any time and can take many resources of the clan for personal use".

Hearing this Rog only saw benefits. With the additional rewards from completing his mission, there was nothing wrong with accepting this. "okay, in that case I'll be joining your ranks happily." said Rog hiding his excitement.

Hearing this, krendell smiled with excitement and took out a medallion and passed it to Rog "This pass let's you in to every chamber of the sect and allows you to pass any edict. You are now a sect protector." Bowed krendell.

"Follow me let me show you the protector's residence". Said krendell.

Just as he was about to suggest Krendell and his female friend to live in the same residence, he focussed on Felicia foe the first time. A beautiful girl with golden long hair reaching her waist. Icy blue eyes and pointed ears. This girl looked very familiar.

'could it be her?! ' thought Krendell in shock.

'everything matches her description. But is she worth losing Rog's support? ' thought Krendell.

Noticing Krendell's thoughtful stare, Felicia had a negative premonition and her expression darkened. Just as she was about to say something, Krendell cut in; "there's a spider on your hair miss".

Eh??.....

A loud scream reverberated across Rog's residence as the spider bounced off in fear . Realising that she might have been wrong with why Krendell was staring at her, she breathed a sigh of Relief.

"I have some work to catch up on. please familiarise yourselves with the residence" smiled Krendell before walking out. As he left their line of sight, his face darkened as he tried to figure out his next course of action.

"This is quite the situation" thought Krendell with a distant expression.
