Chapter 28 - Epilogue

Following the fall of Elgon city, over 10,000 Paniards and Panish loyalists were executed on the streets by both the Drussian and Breetish forces while the retreating Panish Fleet was swiftly overtaken and obliterated by the Breetish fleet. Among these Paniards were the nobles; marshal Rodriguez De Espanosa and lord Julio Del Pieto.

Not a single Paniard returned to Espain to report what has transpired at Drussia.

To the south of Elgon, the first lieutenant of the Violet Army, Erika Bismark Pollorov lead the experimental army unit; the '1st Dragoon Division' in the pursuit of the retreating Ostrians. Leaderless and disheartened, the Ostrians had to endure constant harassment from the Drussian Dragoons as they limped back to Ostria.

Of the 12,000 original Ostrians who invaded Drussia, only less than 500 lived to tell the tale.

Michelle Van Dyme returned with her fleet to Breeton. Using the Drussian's string of victories as an example and as her leverage, Michelle went to work on reforming and reorganising the Breetish military to the standards of early modern warfare.

As of this moment, the Drussian military can no longer be considered the most advanced in the world.

The international community was shocked to witness the humiliating defeat of the Panish Empire and soon tensions started to once again turn red hot. Turkmen armies were seen amassing at the Ostrian-Turkmen border while the Fench Empire hastily set up fortifications on the Drussian-Fench border.

It would be safe to say that the Drussians upset the natural balance of the continent.

As for the Drussians themselves, Maxwell went to work with his siblings to officially establish their 'Imperium of Drussia,' inviting most Drussian nobles to a single meeting. However, the ships carrying the other two major Drussian noble families; the Liltcomb and the Orburn families has 'mysteriously disappeared at sea.'

While none has dared to speak it out loud, it is commonly believed that this disappearance was the work of the Dunnwals themselves.

It is now no longer a question if a continent wide conflict is going to occur. Now it is only a matter of when.

...

Fellow Drussians, I come to you in the wake of recent events to issue a call not to war... but to reason.

Let no one deny the perils of our time.

While the enemies of Drussia have been plotting its downfall, what have we done in order to combat these foreign threats?

We have been bickering amongst ourselves, separated by petty strife and rivalries.

This can continue on no longer!

The Drussian Union is no more.

Whatever semblance of unity and protection it once provided is now nothing more than a memory.

The time has come, my fellow Drussians, to unite under a single banner. A stronger banner.

In unity lies strength; already many of the dissident factions have joined us.

Out of the many we shall forge an indivisible whole capitulating only to a single throne!

And from that throne!

I shall watch over you.

To all the neighbours of Drussia, I hope that we may forge good relations that may stand the test of time...

And to those who would dare to oppose Drussia's glory.

Know that whatever obstacle you may throw at us, that we shall win through!

Know that no matter how dire the situation may seem to be, that we shall win through!

Know that for the glory of Drussia, we shall always win through!

No matter the cost!

-Maxwell Von Galnus Dunnwal's speech upon his inauguration as the first emperor of the newly established Imperium of Drussia

...

To my most beloved Laureen.

By the time you read this, the news of our defeat would have already reached Ostria.

The villains we were sent here to eliminate were more monstrous than we could have ever imagined and we were completely ill-equipped to deal with their unorthodox tactics.

Whatever you may hear about what has happened out here, know this.

Maxwell is undeniably a monster.

He will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals and I fear for the future of Ostria should he ever set his eyes to the south.

You will never see me again Laureen.

Tell our children that I love them and that their father died a hero in the defence of their future.

Until we see each other again.
