Chapter 2 - Behind the door

As Jack sat up from the somewhat cold metallic surface and looked around all he could see was the metallic sheen from the light that came through the door. There was nothing besides him in the room, and all that Jack could see outside the door was some greenery.

Jack wondered if he had been in the sun for too long and since he was not used to it he fainted on the chair.

"Is this some kind of twisted dream?", he mumbled to himself.

"Does this represent a prison of my mind by my subconscious mind and the door with sunlight as an escape?", he thought and smiled.

Jack walked through the door feeling brave. Jack was ready to start living again after everything he has been through and worked for.

The reality of his situation was soon to be proven to be completely different. As Jack made his way towards the shrubbery and saw the trees in the distance there was a sudden noise of something moving, and soon the perpetrator of that noise came into view.

It was green. We have to call it "it" because the sex of it could not be determined and even if it were female you would have to have pretty exotic taste or alcohol poisoning to want to do something with it no matter if you were a straight male or a lesbian. If it was male and or you were a female or a gay male the same rule would still apply.

Jack looked at it as it slowly approached him. It seemed like an especially ugly kobold which was a creature Jack only knew from some video games. It was green had pointy ears, pointy nose, bloody red eyes and a massive mouth with some nasty looking rotten teeth.

Jack thought it must be his subconscious mind playing with him. Getting ideas from his time freelancing for an MMORPG company so Jack really was not alarmed which soon to proved to be a fatal mistake.

As the 1m 30cm(4 foot) humanoid got within three meters of him, and Jack was just about to say hello it suddenly dashed and pushed his pointy stick deep into his stomach.

Jack held the pointy stick or maybe it would be good to call it a makeshift spear and rolling on the ground in agony as the creature closed in on him. It took out a dagger and quickly slit his neck.

The warm blood flowing down his exposed chest towards his stomach and the pain from the stomach subsiding was the last thing he remembered before he woke up inside the metallic room again.

Jack checked his stomach, and it was perfect. Well, not perfect but normal. It was a geeks stomach that had not seen any workout in ages, so it was far from perfect.

Then Jack remembered his neck and tried to find the cut, but it was also in a pristine condition.

Jack started worrying the creature was nearby outside, and quickly hid with his back sticking to the wall beside the door.

He started contemplating what had just happened and his mind kept telling him this is all a dream.

He must be sleeping on the beach on a chair and the only worry he should have is the severe sunburn, he will get before someone notices he fainted. This idea got his mind to relax a bit, but it was soon proven wrong.

Jack waited for a long time, and nothing happened. He tried smacking himself and pinching himself.

It all felt real, and he could not get himself to wake up.

"Damn it.", he yelled.

"I finally get out from under the stupid debts, and now I go on holiday and have gone crazy on the first day?", Jack started to feel sorry for himself.

Jack soon calmed down, he figured the only way was to go out the door. Whatever was on the other side could not kill him. At least not permanently.

Since that was the case, he might as well try to figure out what is out there.

Jack walked out towards the hedge, he heard the noise again. The same ugly green kobold like creature came out, and it slowly started walking towards him.

As it neared 3 meters, Jack replayed the scene of their last encounter in his mind and knew what will happen. The creature lunged at him with the spear, so he dodged to the left and used his right hand to grab the spear and pull it up with everything he got.

The creature was surprised by the sudden pull and let go of the spear as it passed him. Jack quickly turned around and pointed the spear at the green monster. By now the creature had already taken out its dagger.

As it lunged at him again, Jack pushed the spear towards it, and it impaled itself on it. Jack looked at the green monster squirming in pain on the end of the spear he held. He pushed it again, and dark green goo came out from the wound. Jack kept pushing the spear and not letting the creature remove itself from the tip until it fell.

As it could no longer escape the spear slid into its ribcage and pierced its organs, and green goo started coming from its mouth.

Jack looked at it, and he felt nothing except a satisfying sense of revenge. He looked at it carefully. It was ugly and worst of all it stank like gorgonzola cheese container on a hot summer day.

As he crouched to look at it even closer and wanted to pick up its dagger, he suddenly felt something on his neck, and his mind suddenly went blank.

Next thing Jack knew he was again on the cold metallic floor. He instantly knew what this meant.

"Fuuuuuuck, there must be more than one.", he yelled to himself.

Then he twitched and looked at the door. He was pretty loud right now, and no one came to check it out.

"So does this mean they can't come in?", he asked himself.

Jack got an idea similar to what he was doing in games while he still had the time to play them. He would use this door to his advantage. Go out kill one. Get back in and kill the other, so they can't gang upon him. He was laughing to himself as he went out towards the shrubs.

The green monster jumped out again and repeated the same process, and the outcome was the same. It impaled itself on the spear, and he killed it by pinning it on the ground.

Jack quickly removed the spear and ran towards the door as fast as he could. Just as he was about to jump through it, he noticed a dark green shadow jumping from the shrubs and running towards him.

Jack made a graceful leap with the spear in his hand to jump through the door, when he was suddenly rebounded. The door was a force field. Something, straight out of science fiction.

As he was holding his bloody nose and cursing his stupidity for not checking it before he felt some pain on his neck and his consciousness began to fade.
