Chapter 39 - The Loot

"Uhm, okay little woman…" Thrasher was greeted by a creature with wings.

"I'm a fairy! FAIRY!" She said aghast, "The biggest fairy, and granter of a B rank quest!"

"Oh…" Thrasher giggled to himself. "Yes, for a fairy you're like a Purple Monarch…"

The NPC fairy was roughly four feet five inches tall and was flittering above the dead boss. She didn't know what this Purple Monarch was, but it caused her to smile.

"Heh… I like the sound of that name, Purple Monarch…"

Thrasher smiled at her, and then recalled who this fairy was. He had been playing this game for so long that he forgot about fairies.

In the last game, these fairies were killed off by the first elite guild, Saint's Alliance, because of their invaluable secrets. However, these fairies, and their secrets, didn't stay dead and were in fact resurrected in this new extension.

The company must have thought who'd kill a picturesque fairy that granted you an invaluable quest, but they were killed and now back.

"Yes, it's a very good name! He's a very tall man!"

"I'm impressed!" Helena Green said with a smile, "You humans are so much bigger than I imagined!"

"Very glad you're happy meeting me…" Thrasher smiled as he looked at the equipment with drool running down his face. "But… can you make this fast?"

Helena Green, the little fairy in the green dress, sighed and then floated over towards Thrasher. "Hmmm, well… you seem like a noble man, but do you really want the burden of all of fairies on your conscience?"

The fairy looked at him like he was not worthy. In fact, she'd consider anyone who wasn't a fairy unworthy of this quest, but because of their current predicament they needed outside help. This was even apparent to Thrasher who recognized her condescending look. This caused him to rethink his answer.

"Hmmm, if I don't do it, what will happen to you guys?" He crossed his arms and then started staring at the set items again. He also wanted to open the treasure chest, but this fairy was important too.

"We'll probably die off, and the entire fairy world will cease to exist. If I wasn't needed to keep the other fairies alive, I'd do this myself…"

Thrasher sighed hearing this and nodded his head. "Yes, this sounds very familiar… It seems like you fairies are destined to die."

He stepped back and inched closer to the items that were a few feet away.

The fairy, on the other hand, seemed shocked and afraid. "I-I… I really don't want to die… I'm supposed to be immortal, but the dark orcs are draining the nature's essence in our cave… Please, even though you are a mere speck in this world, can I count on you?"

Thrasher shrugged his shoulders. "Uhm, do I really have to?"

"Please?" She responded before a quest window appeared,

[Ding! You've been offered the quest, the Fairies plight]

[The Fairies are currently losing their habitat to the dark orcs and need a savior. In order to be saved, you must wage war against the dark orcs on behalf of the fairies. The dark orcs will hunt you when you accept this quest, though, and the burden will follow you in sleep and sorrow. Would you dare accept the stigma of the fairies?]

[Difficulty Level B]

[Do you accept this quest?}

"Hmmm, when you ask like that, I'll do it!"

Thrasher smiled before the little fairy giggled and threw an item out of her hand.

"That's great! Catch this, and don't die too fast!"

Thrasher sighed and caught a little fairy emblem in his hand. Instantly, this emblem was attached to his body.

Thrasher sighed and looked at the fairy emblem on his body. It was a very girly emblem, and he imagined Pell would want it once she saw him. He could only hope she had a different emblem for him to equip. However, before he could even ask the fairy a question, she was already fluttering down into the cave.

"Thank you, human, for saving us! You will love your reward I promise!"

The fairy, in her mind, was so glad she was free of that accursed badge that she didn't even notice a wall in front of her. After flying into the wall by accident, she transformed into a ball of light and disappeared.

"Hmmm, just try and survive until I'm back!"

"Yes!" Her little voice spread through the cave before Thrasher finally made it to the golden chest.

When chests were gold, it usually meant they stored legendary items, however, there was also fake chests, and trap chests. However, even with this considered, this was a boss stage, and it would be incredibly mean if there was no item inside.

He bent over and opened the chest as a blinding golden light appeared.

The item then flew out and immediately spun in the air.

This was obviously met by a message from Pell, but he was not expecting its contents.

"Brother, these men just tried to bother me…" Her voice sounded somber as she waited outside the mine.

Thrasher instantly replied with a smile on his face, "Hmmm, did you hurt them already?"
