Chapter 9 - Hidden Dungeon

"So… do you guys remember the story about the dungeon here? Do you think it is still here?" Thrasher sliced at one of the incoming wolves, and Purple Monarch steps on one of them before slicing its HP to zero.

"Uhm, yeah… However, I don't see the dwarf," Dream Knight replies and smashes a wolf with her cudgel.

The wolves are all level 10, and with their equipment its like swatting flies. They pile up quickly as the timer counts down.

"…Hmmm, well, let's not kill these wolves yet then. That annoying ranger might be here still."

Purple Monarch nods his head. "I wanted to eat that little ranger dwarf."

"Well… I don't blame you. That little dwarf is the reason why no one took this quest. What kind of NPC throws apples at you when you go over time," Dream Knight said reflecting on the memory.

Thrasher, however, always completed the mission on time unlike 99% of gamers. "I just heard stories about him guys, but I really hope he's still here. I really want to go into the Grey Winter Dungeon before anyone else does."

"Hmmm, well, as long as he doesn't try and bite me ag—" Dream Knight turns and looks down at the dwarf who's staring up at her.

"Hi, travelers… Is there a reason why you're in my forest?" In the dwarf's hands is a tomato that Purple Monarch gulps when he sees. Regardless, Thrasher is the one that answers.

"Yes… the mayor of Blue Bay City put up a request to kill the wolves."

"Ah… you mean that f*cking old goat?"

Dream Knight immediately recalls this NPC's attitude and DM's Purple Monarch. "Oh no… it's really him! The dwarf devil is still around!"

"I know… but, he's at least talking to Thrasher."

Thrasher is looking at the dwarf and immediately reaches down and pets his head. "Ah, I hate that mayor too, little guy."

The Dwarf laughs and falls on the ground. "Heh! You know my secret! I love being tickled, hahahahaha!"

Dream Knight and Purple Monarch look at each other. In the old <> there was over 25 options for dialog to keep games interesting. The one they had never chosen was the [tickle] option. I mean did it really make sense to tickle an enraged green guy? This is what Thrasher chose, and it seemed to benefit him.

Purple Monarch could only shake his head. "You knew this secret all along, and you never told us, boss?"

Corey looked at them. "Is it really hard to guess something so small and cute would like to be tickled?"

Dream Knight can only shake her head. "Uhm, yes?"

"Well, little dwarf, these two are my friends, and there is a path we wish to take. If we don't kill the rest of the wolves, can you guide us to the Grey Winter Dungeon?"

The dwarf, sighed, and pulled out a map. "Ugh, fine… But give me something you two…"

"You mean us?" Purple Monarch and Dream Knight said simultaneously.

"Yes… you two sh*ts were about to get tomatoed before this nice man came along."

Purple Monarch could only sigh and take out a small bag containing 100 white coins. This was the most common currency, but it took him nearly 20 wolves to get it. He took it out of his pocket before the dwarf giggled.

"Heh… you cheap skate, but fine… madam?"

After being extorted by the little evil gremlin, he happy guided them down the path. Along the way, they happened to aggro every wolf in the territory. However, in order to stay in the forest, they couldn't kill the wolves.

It took them a moment to reach the Grey Winter Dungeon, and the Dwarf turned around and ran off. In his hands were tomatoes, and he sensed some new members were entering the forest.

"You really tried to tickle him?" Dream Knight asked Thrasher.

Thrasher nodded. "Yes… it was the first thing I tried? What? Did you two really not try it?"

Purple Monarch and Dream Knight sighed.

"Well… Guild Head… Enough of reminiscing. What difficulty should we choose?"
