Shining in the air, the translucent menu hung like crystals, suspended before her. Behind her, Izalia did not seem to notice it, nor was it affected by the fact they were still moving.
Looking closer at it, she inspected the status menu. It seemed to her, the slightest will to purposely see the menu brought it up. Convient, she thought, at least this way I don't have to say it out loud. The information displayed on it was hard to make a judgement on for now, as the lack of comparison made it hard to judge if she had been made overpowered or not. For all she knew, they might be absurdly low numbers, or shockingly high. The skills section, and it's truth to what the goddess mentioned, allowed her some relief, as there were no surprises or cheats.
What made her uncomfortable was the titles. The fact that it stated her origin as not of this world was not optimal in her eyes, and the "Goddesses' Chosen" title was another issue entirely. She desperately hoped that there were no such forcible status display checkpoints, as with no idea on what is normal and her titles, she might as well wear a "suspicious person" sign on her back.
Izalia broke her thought's path as she spoke her name suddenly. "Rie! Look alive, we'll soon be home!" Her warm, lively voice ripped Rie out of that gloomy train of thought, as they approached a large house that looked as if it could house an army. It was made of some kind of pale stone, with three red triangular roofs that overhung slightly on the house. Large windows adorned its sides, with one particularly large window centered in the middle, under the largest roof. Surrounding the building, a stone wall stood, enclosing the perimeter of the house. A gate lay at the end of dirt road they swiftly travelled down, and a pair of guards flanked the entrance. Watching their approach, they stood at attention, one of the guards first shouting something muffled back through the gate. Slowly, they opened the wooden gate, its wide opening welcoming the two of them on horseback. Rie, hoping the best, but fearing the worst, stiffened as they went through, her ears flatting slightly.
They came to a stop just inside the gate, as a short, middle aged woman in what looked like a maid's dress came to greet Izalia. "Duchess," She said, bowing slightly. Her eyes fell on Rie, and her face stiffened for a moment "And, who exactly are you?"
