"Do you mind explaining to me what the hell is going on?" Alec stared at the two with crossed arms, his expression stern.
With her hands folded on her lap, Mimi stared at her brother calmly.
"He started it." She pointed to the man sitting beside her.
Tobias swept his gaze over and looked at her with a lifted brow. He had no words. Naturally, Alec did not believe her considering her perverted tendencies. He looked between the two on the sofa with narrowed eyes.
"Are you two…" He swallowed as if struggling with his words. "…Dating?"
The moment those words left his mouth, both Mimi and Tobias visibly stiffened.
Were they?
While both of them confessed their feelings toward one another, they never made anything official. Mimi and Tobias exchanged looks.
Tobias was the first to break the silence. He cleared the silence. "Yes. Mimi is now my…girlfriend."
As Mimi looked at him with her wide eyes, the back of Tobias's ears were slowly turning red and his expression was becoming a little stiff. A torrent of emotions was flooding her heart right now. Her lips curved upwards and a warm smile blossomed on her face.
"That's right. Tobias is now my boyfriend." She giggled.
Although Tobias's features were still locked in their usual cool expression, there was warmth welling up from deep inside his heart. When his eyes met with Mimi's, his features visibly softened.
At the same time, a twitch developed in Alec's eyes as he watched the lovey-dovey couple before him. He had a headache.
"Hold it! Just give me a moment!" Alec held his head. "Tobias didn't you tell me a couple of weeks ago that you confessed to her. And Mimi, it was just a week ago you briefed me that you revealed Tobias the truth. Now…the two of you are a couple?!"
Mimi and Tobias looked at him, seemingly unbothered by his frantic attitude. Both nodded in agreement with his words.
"That's right." Tobias looked very calm, even his tone revealed indifference.
Alec was dumbfounded, which showed in his expression as he looked at the two.
"So…you're really together now." He tiredly slumped into a seat. When he suddenly recalled the scene he witnessed upon entering the office; he sat up, eyes narrowed.
"You do know Mimi isn't eighteen yet. I hope you don't plan on doing anything." Alec didn't look pleased as he stared at Tobias with an accusing glare.
Under his gaze, Tobias couldn't help but feel guilty. Until now, that had been his intentions. However, it was hard to hold back when the girl did things that pushed his buttons. What's worse, she never held back on her attacks.
At that moment, a sudden realization hit him. If Mimi wasn't raised by her father and her sister passed away, then did that mean…Alec was her guardian?
Although he knew Alec since they were young adults, this had been the first time Tobias was introduced as his sister's boyfriend.
Moreover, Alec just saw the two of them in an obscene pose.
He needed to have more self-control.
If he wanted to treat her with more care and to value her more, he needed to restrain himself. No matter what she threw at him.
Tobias awkwardly coughed to hide his guilt and secretly glanced at Alec. "I understand. Until she's an adult, I will wait."
Alec studied his expression with narrowed eyes. When the two men stared at one another with serious expressions for a few seconds, Alec withdrew and sighed.
"You better keep that promise." He warned.
Tobias nodded his head. "Yes."
Mimi had been watching off to the side the entire time. The corner of her lips twitched. She was already having trouble getting Tobias to fall for her charms, and now her brother had come along to cock block her!
In an extremely helpless state, Mimi mumbled, "Hey Alec, did you not say you were supposed to be in the hospital for six weeks?"
Alec was dumbfounded. He tried his hardest to hold back the twitching of his face. Was she saying she wanted him to be hospitalized?
Trying hard to not take it personally, he directs his gaze on Tobias.
"How's your head?" Alec's eyes fell on the scar above his eyebrow.
Tobias smiled and said, "Fine."
Alec couldn't help but smile back. When a sudden thought came to his mind, his smile abruptly fell.
He looked at Mimi and asked in seriousness, "After you visited me in the hospital, did you happen to see anyone familiar?"
Mimi's brows furrowed. She shook her head. Alec let out a breath of relief, however, his expression was still grim.
"A few minutes after you left, Kenji visited me."
Mimi's pupils abruptly shrunk and she was stunned for a moment."Do you think he saw me?"
Alec sighed. "I'm not sure. I don't think he would recognize you after all these years."
The look on Mimi's face turned odd. Awkwardly, she scratched her cheek and cleared her throat.
"A couple of days ago I was chased by some men in suits. Apparently, they were sent by Kenji."
The room fell silent. Alec was in utter disbelief at what he had just heard.
His eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. He looked at Mimi like she was crazy.
"What?!"
