Chereads / MIMI / Chapter 184 - They Were The Same

Chapter 184 - They Were The Same

As Alec left EMIRI, he suddenly stood frozen in place.

"Shit!"

Aaahhh! Why did he say that to her?!

In that moment, when Mimi said those words and responded to his question with a silent smile, he couldn't control the disappointment and frustration he felt!

He only said those words at the spur of the moment, yet now that he had time to calm down, he felt instant regret!

How could he compare her to their bastard of a father?! Is there no greater insult! Especially considering the hatred Mimi had for him, Alec had signed on his own death.

Clutching his hair, he groaned in frustration. Lost in his self-guilt, Alec missed the sound of footsteps walking his way.

"You truly are a fascinating big brother, aren't you?"

Alec stiffened before raising his head to see Shen Jue standing across from him. His face maintained his usual gentle smile, but the smile did not reach his eyes. Alec frowned with his lips pressed together. The look in his eyes had turned sharp.

"What are you still doing here?" Alec's voice came as cold as a stone.

Shen Jue laughed. "Am I not allowed to be here? Moreover, I thought I'd wait for the little one to finish her business with you before I drove her home. I had a feeling she wouldn't be driving back with you."

Hearing Shen Jue's words, a dangerous glint came to life in Alec's eyes as he narrowed his gaze.

"What are your intentions toward assisting her?"

Shen Jue maintained his calm smile. "If I said it's because I cared for her and want to help her would that reassure you?"

The corner of Alec's lips twitched. Did he overhear their whole conversation? Why did he feel as if he was mocking him?

The look in Alec's eyes darkened.

"Shen Jue I'm warning you, whatever your intentions are, don't involve her any further. This will only result in her getting hurt. I know Mimi thinks she knows you well, but I know how sick you truly are - just as much as Emily did."

Conveying his peace, Alec stepped past Shen Jue intending to leave when the man's soft voice suddenly caused him to cease his movements.

"Heh, you act so righteously when you too have secrets you're not telling her. Is that not why you're trying to stop me? Do you think I don't know what kind of person you truly are? You and Tobias Itou are no better than me."

Alec's eyes were dark. His face was pale but full of anger, enough to make others shudder. He turned around and tightly gripped Shen Jue's collar. At that moment, his eyes flared, the murderous malice within them flowed unrestrained.

"Shen Jue!" Alec grit his teeth. "You dare compare the two of us to scum like you? Even if it were true, we all may be scum, but Mimi is innocent! She's not like you!"

Shen Jue gave a low laugh; his eyes glinted cold as his mouth curled up slightly.

His voice was strangely gentle as he said, "Not like me? You don't know her at all do you? She and I are the same."

Alec stared at the man in his grip as if he were insane.

Because he was! The fuck was he talking about?!

In disgust, Alec shoved Shen Jue away and glared.

"Sick bastard. I don't know what the hell is going through that screwed up head of yours, but leave Mimi out of it. My sister is not like you nor is she some toy for you to play with. This is my last warning; either stay the hell away from her or do the right thing and let her be free."

With that, Alec walked away. Shen Jue watched him leave and laughed gently as if nothing happened. He turned around to face the window. His lips curled up as he looked at the girl sitting casually by the window, her gaze lowered.

She was dressed in a beautiful sleeve flare dress like a red rose, matched with her fair skin, it was simply enchanting.

Maintaining his smile, Shen Jue turned away from the window and walked back to his car.

"Only Iโ€ฆ" He softly whispered.

Only he could understand her.

Only he can cause her to show such vivid expressions.

Only he can make her feel.

โ€ฆ

Ding, dongโ€”!

The light cast a shadow on the man's cold face, he looked intently at the screen, fingers moving at speeds the naked eye couldn't follow. A few minutes later, he was interrupted by the buzzer on the door, he couldn't help but frown.

Tobias looked up from his computer screen and his gaze shifted to the clock on the wall.

Nine o'clock.

It was either Mimi or Alec coming to his place at such a late hour. Though during the times where someone did ring at his door, it was usually Mimi. At the thought of seeing the girl, Tobias's heart shook just a bit.

Tobias abruptly stood up and walked over to answer the door. As the door opened, a girl with big violet eyes came into sight. The corners of her mouth just ever so slightly curled, smiling. Her violet eyes staring at him.

"Mind if I stay the night?" Mimi asked in a soft tone.
