"Um, Mimi?" Emilia nervously spoke up.
"Mhm?" Mimi sipped her milk tea calmly.
Emilia shifted her eyes to the side before averting her gaze. "That guy who approached us earlier…why is he following us?"
Mimi lifted her head and glanced at Shen Jue sitting a few seats away from them in an indifferent manner. Upon receiving her gaze, the man's eyes sparkled.
Returning her gaze to the pastries in front of her, she said, "Ignore him."
Emilia parted her mouth to retort before closing it. She sat very still, and the line of her mouth was grim. Cautiously, she stole a glance at the man a few tables away from them.
His dark hair was slightly curly, revealing an angular, handsome, smiling face. The man's pair of slightly narrowed, beautiful peach eyes looked very engrossed in the girl across from her.
This gaze of his was obviously not natural!
As if sensing Emilia's stare, Shen Jue's eyes shifted away from Mimi. The previous warmth within his eyes disappeared the moment his eyes shifted to her. They were narrowed, rigid, and cold.
Only a few seconds passed before he directed his gaze back, but it was enough for Emilia to feel a cold sweat run down her back.
This man was terrifying!
Emilia watched Mimi, her silver eyes seeing the girl's indifference to the strange man scrutinizing her with a heated gaze.
It was as if she hadn't perceived his eyes on her at all!
Strangely, seeing the girl's calm expression, Emilia felt her nerves ease somewhat as she silently enjoyed the pastries before them.
"Miss, here is our chef's special dark chocolate truffle torte." A waiter came by and placed an entire chocolatey torte on their table.
Mimi's eyes brightened at the sight of chocolate while Emilia's lips turned downward. She looked at the waiter with a tilted chin and furrowed brows.
"We didn't order this."
The waiter looked at Emilia and revealed a courteous smile.
"What the lady said is correct. This was ordered by the gentleman a few tables down, specifically for the lady's friend."
Emilia was speechless. It didn't take much to know that the 'gentleman' the waiter spoke of was Shen Jue. However, what shocked her more was that he had specifically ordered it only for Mimi and didn't bother to deny it!
Even the waiter said it!
Emilia was afraid if she even took a bite of the chocolate torte she'd receive an icy glare from him.
At the same time, when Mimi heeded the waiter's words, the previous sparkling in her eyes vanished. On the surface, Mimi appeared unaffected. But, in reality, she was fuming inside.
The creepy bastard was trying to buy her with sweets! Using her only weakness against her was utterly evil!
Mimi forced out a smile as her lips tightened into a straight line. She looked at the waiter and said, "Please return this to the kind gentleman and tell him if he wants to be forgiven to shove this torte back where his bullshit comes from."
Emilia and the waiter stared at the girl wide-eyed as she casually spewed vulgar words.
The waiter appeared nervous, "Miss, I-I don't think I can say that."
The man was still a customer to the café after all.
"Of course you can! All you have to do is part your lips, repeat my words and accept this generous tip I'm leaving you."
When the waiter looked down at the thick roll of cash on the table, his eyes widened.
That…that was more than he earned in six months!
The waiter glanced back at the girl at the table, rosy lips curling an innocent joyful smile.
It didn't seem too bad.
Taking the plate of torte off the table along with the cash, he walked back to Shen Jue's table. When the waiter left their table, Mimi dabbed the corner of her lips before standing up.
"Come on, let's go."
Emilia's eyes widened as Mimi grasped her hand and dragged her out. About to ask why they were suddenly leaving, Emilia heard the sound of a man's gentle laughter from behind.
…
Outside the café, Mimi took out her phone to call a car. Only a few minutes passed before a car pulled up in front. When Emilia entered the backseat, she had noticed that the girl behind her didn't enter.
"Mimi? Aren't you coming in?"
The corner of Mimi's rosy lips curled up into a bright smile.
"I have to meet Alec later. You get home safely by yourself, all right?"
Emilia parted her lips to speak when she suddenly saw Shen Jue standing a few feet away from them in front of the café. Her lips tightened into a firm line.
Looking back at Mimi, who smiled at her softly, Emilia pursed her lips before she shuffled out of the car and lifting her body.
With burning red cheeks, Emilia lightly planted a kiss upon Mimi's soft cheek leaving her wide-eyed. Her big, clear silver eyes seriously looked at Mimi.
"You stay safe too, Mimi."
Without allowing the girl a chance to respond, Emilia scurried back into the car and shut the door in her face, ordering the driver to leave. Mimi watched as the red-cheeked girl's car drove away, the warmth of the girl's lips still on her cheek.
Mimi reached up and touched where Emilia had kissed, her eyes revealing a playful, brilliant light.
"Silly girl," She chuckled softly.
As Mimi turned around, she was met with a hard chest standing in front of her. She tilted her head slightly to see Shen Jue's dark eyes staring back down at her.
"I have to say, that was rather unexpected. I didn't think Miss Yimo had such feelings for you."
Then, he hooked his lips, asking with a low, calm voice, "Does the little one also have those feelings toward Miss Yimo?"
Shen Jue's slightly curly short hair covered his forehead, just sweeping across his eyebrows due to its length. His eyes were slightly narrowed.
"Or perhaps not specifically to Miss Yimo but someone else…" His voice was whispered almost as if he were talking to himself. "Tobias Itou maybe?"
"What are you talking about, Shen Jue?" Mimi asked, her brows creasing up together.
Shen Jue's eyes remained in a faint smile however, an icy chill was radiating from them.
"I'm asking you, Mimi, is there someone you like?"
Shen Jue's words caused Mimi to be taken aback by surprise.
How did this subject come about?
Identifying the puzzled expression on the girl's face, Shen Jue helplessly sighed and smiled.
"You're meeting Alec at EMIRI right? Why don't I drive you there? There's no catch I promise, I just want to save you the hassle of waiting for a car."
Mimi was silent in return to his offer. After a while, she sighed and nodded her head. Seeing as she agreed, Shen Jue's expression turned gentler as he directed the girl to his car.
While Mimi walked to Shen Jue's car, she had neglected the slight flaw in Shen Jue's words.
