Chereads / MIMI / Chapter 143 - Shen Jue's Appearance

Chapter 143 - Shen Jue's Appearance

Fifteen minutes later, they exit the shop. Adding to his newly bought clothes was a pair of shades and a baseball cap.

In the end, Mimi was unable to find anything that didn't further cause attraction to the godlike specimen.

Everything the man wore made him look like a sin!

As for herself, Mimi washed off her makeup, put up her short hair and purchased herself her own set of men's clothes. She wore a dark blue cardigan with a white button-up shirt underneath and brown pants. On her face was a pair of large black-rimmed glasses, practically the size of her face.

"Where is she now?" Mimi twirled a stranded piece of hair away from her face.

Tobias glanced down at his phone, "She's at the food court."

Suddenly, Mimi's steps slowed until they came to a halt. Noticing this, Tobias looked back at her in confusion.

"What is it?"

Mimi gaped as she tried recovering her wits. Finally, she spat out, "There's a food court?!"

Grasping the reason for her sudden shock, Tobias's usual poker face slipped and he said softly. "Mm. We can buy something on our way there."

Her smile reached her eyes, turning them into crescents. "Yes, let's go!"

Heading to the food court, the two quickly spotted Senior Su sitting in a fast-food store. Mimi bought three burgers, a large set of fries and a chocolate milkshake, while Tobias purchased for himself one burger and onion rings.

Sitting down, Mimi tilted her head. "My, my, I never thought of her as someone who enjoyed fast food."

While Mimi kept her eyes on the woman a few feet away from them, Tobias began unwrapping their food and setting it out. When he finished, he set down a burger in front of her.

"Eat."

Directing her gaze away from Senior Su, Mimi looks down at her tray and notices the lone burger.

She frowned. "Where's the rest?"

Tobias took off his shades and rolled up his jacket sleeves. "When you finish that you can have the second one."

"And the third?"

"You can have that after you finish the second one."

Hearing his words, Mimi shot a fierce glare at him. However, not bothering to challenge his method of feeding her, Mimi frowned and took a bite of her first burger.

Upon the first bite, the previous dissatisfaction she felt melted away. She continued eating joyously while softly humming to herself.

Meanwhile, Tobias's attention was on the girl seated across from him, a faint smile on his face. When she finished her first burger, she looked at Tobias with eager eyes.

"Seconds please!"

Sighing, he hands her the second burger. Just as she was about to bite into it, a large hand stretched out and wiped her lips gently with a napkin.

"Eat slowly this time. Give the food time to digest." Tobias spoke softly.

Shock filled her eyes from the gentle sensation on her lips, diminishing her usual sarcastic wit and adding an extra trace of cuteness. She nodded her head slowly, humming a sound of agreement.

Treated so gently as if she were a child, Mimi slightly felt overwhelmed and a warm feeling spread through her chest.

This had all felt too familiar. She had wondered where she felt such a feeling when a sudden figure appeared in her mind.

That's right...her sister.

Whenever she ate crepes with her sister, she'd get powdered sugar on her mouth and Emily would wipe it off for her. It had been seven years since someone wiped food off her mouth.

After he finished cleaning the sauce on her face, as if nothing happened, Tobias went back to his food. Her eyes kept drifting up to sneak glances at him. His strong jaw flexed as he ate.

Chewing his burger, Tobias sensed the girl's stare on him and directed his handsome face toward her - those eyes of his revealing nothing.

"What?" He asked, licking the ketchup from the corner of his lips.

Mimi's eyes unconsciously followed his tongue's movements as it went back inside his now sealed lips before looking back at his face. Perceiving the emptiness in his eyes, she was at a loss.

Before she could stop herself, she asked, "Tobias, why are you so kind to me? In the end, we're still strangers to one another."

Dark eyes stared at her. Setting his burger down, he reached for the napkin beside him and wiped his hands neatly. His movements seemed so slow to her as she waited for him to answer her question. Finally, he looked up at her.

"How are we considered strangers to one another?"

Mimi hadn't expected this sudden question from Tobias at all. Her purple eyes widened and her pink lips pursed in thought.

Before Mimi could answer, from the corner of her eyes, she spotted a figure walking toward Senior Su's table.

At that moment, her expression went dark, the light in her eyes faintly dimming until they appeared soulless. Her throat was unbearably dry, and she couldn't even speak.

It was him. He was here.

She hadn't imagined how she'd react to seeing him. If anything she had assumed she'd be indifferent. After all, as a child, she hated him.

However, witnessing his familiar face and the expressions on his face altering, she felt her entire body turn numb, her face turning pale as a sheet of paper.

Shen Jue was here.

"Mimi?"

Tobias quickly noticed Mimi's abnormal behavior. Watching those bright eyes of hers slowly dim as if she were a doll, his heart stirred. He turned to look in the direction she was staring at, and he immediately frowned.

Shen Jue? Wasn't he partnered with the Hiro Corp?

His frosty eyes swept over to Senior Su who smiled at the approaching man. He would need to look into this. But for now, his top priority mind was focused on the girl across from him.

"Mimi."

She was silent. Her eyes continuing to stare at Shen Jue's as if she were in a trance, causing Tobias's heart to tighten even further.

Leisurely, Tobias extended his hand out and softly grabbed her clenched fists into his large ones. When he felt her cold hands, his eyes narrowed.

"Look at me." He demanded softly.

Flinching at the sudden warmth on her hands, Mimi finally regained her senses. Her head shifted to look at Tobias, a glazed look veiling her eyes. His thumbs smoothed over her hands - his touch as gentle as a feather.

"Let's go back."

Mimi nodded absentmindedly. Still grasping her hand, Tobias walked out with Mimi behind him. Before leaving, Tobias's cold eyes darted back toward Shen Jue and narrowed.

Having left the area, the two hadn't noticed the man sitting across the woman glancing up and smiling oddly.

"Shen Jue?" Senior Su glanced at the man curiously.

Reverting his attention to her, he said with a smile. "Forgive me. It's just I happened to see an old friend of mine."

"Oh. Do want to invite them over here?"

Chuckling softly, he shakes his head, "That's alright. It would seem they've left already."

Senior Su nodded her head and continued to eat her salad. Meanwhile, the smile at the edges of Shen Jue's mouth grew deeper, and his eyes darkened.

In a low, gentle whisper, he uttered the chilling words, "I'll see her again soon."
