Throughout the entire lunch, everyone ate in stiff silence.
After Mimi finished her meal, a plate of apple sugar-powered crepes appeared in front of her. Eli sitting beside her felt the corner of his lips twitch.
Tobias really didn't hide how much he spoiled the girl, did he?
Sighing helplessly, Eli turns back to Juno who was going over the company's latest profits.
Instead of staring at the delicious crepe with sparkling eyes, Mimi's expression deepened.
She lifts her hand and signals for the waiter who, from the beginning, stood nearby.
As the waiter approached her with a courteous smile, Mimi points her finger toward the crepe on her plate.
"Can you pack this up for me to go?"
"Of course, miss." The waiter nodded before taking her plate to pack it up.
Meanwhile, when Tobias watched the scene before him, he frowned. Not noticing his sour mood, Mimi stands up and turns to look at everyone.
"Excuse me for interrupting, but I'll be taking my leave now."
Tobias's body stiffened and his cool face darkened. "You're leaving?"
Shifting to look at Tobias, Mimi bows her head lightly. "Yes, it seems I have some urgent business I need to attend to."
"What urgent business?"
Mimi's mouth twitched, "Some business that requires my assistance."
"Such as?" Tobias's voice was firm.
Why did she suddenly feel as if she was a daughter reporting her whereabouts to her overprotective father?
However, because of the situation, Mimi was feeling slightly irritable and couldn't help but snap.
"Mr. Itou, as an employee I don't think my personal matters are any of your business. So if you'll excuse me."
Without allowing anyone the chance to speak, Mimi left the room.
Tobias was speechless as he watched her leaving figure.
Not just Tobias, but everyone else at the table was surprised by Mimi's sharp tone toward him.
It had been the first time anyone had used such a tone toward Tobias. And he didn't even say anything about it!
Hesitantly, everyone turned to look at the cold statue looking in the direction Mimi left in, his eyes radiating an icy glint.
"M-Mr. Itou should I…" Juno was about to speak but stopped as Tobias glared at him with his dark, chilling eyes.
Please have mercy! Ah, Ms. Mimi why did you have to upset the big cold demon! Boss is so scary!
Leaning back in his seat and rubbing the space between his brows, Tobias sighs.
"Ms. Su, continue with your pitch."
Silent for a few seconds, Senior Su nods her head nervously. "R-Right."
For the next two hours, the four went over and settled on one of the pitches Senior Su presented. After they decided on the pitch to build on, they all stood up to leave.
…
Outside of the restaurant.
"Mr. Itou, should I have someone follow Ms. Mimi?" Juno walked beside his boss nervously.
Tobias was silent. Thinking of the expression and tone of Mimi's voice when she left, his handsome face hardened.
Whatever she had to take care of it was probably serious. But what worried him the most was the girl's lack of self-care for herself.
He knew when it came to Mimi, she never considered the most dangerous circumstances a threat. The event with Mr. Lin in the underground parking lot was enough proof of that.
He gave it some thought before he said, "There's no need. She can handle herself."
Juno nodded and followed Tobias to his car.
Even if what she was doing was dangerous, he trusted her. Their relationship at the moment was considered fresh. The two of them weren't at the stage of revealing secrets to one another.
Tobias didn't want to force the truth out of her or spy on her private matters. He somehow felt if he did he'd only push her away even further.
Whenever she was ready, she would tell him.
In the back of his car, Tobias's eyes shone.
"Have someone prepare a doctor in my office later."
"Yes, Mr. Itou."
Just because he trusted her didn't mean he wasn't aware of her recklessness.
"And my usual order from Treasury restaurant." Tobias thought about how hungry Mimi got whenever she did anything regarding work.
"Yes, Mr. Itou. I also called the best doctor in the city. He'll be ready to assist you whenever you call."
"Mmm."
…
After Mimi had left the restaurant with the packed crepe in her hand, she immediately called a cab and gave the driver an address.
Sitting in the back of the taxi, Mimi stared out the window with a brooding expression.
Her expression turned ten times chillier compared to when in the restaurant, causing the driver in front to shiver.
This girl not only looked terrifying, but the aura she gave was even scarier! Ah, why did he have to be the one to drive such a person!
Mimi looked down at her phone and noticed a number on the screen. Frowning, Mimi answers.
"I'm on my way. You better have a good explanation for this."
Not allowing the person on the other end to finish, she ends the call. Mimi leaned back in her seat and gently closed her eyes.
Nearly an hour passed before the car arrived in front of a towering brick building. It was an old school building.
From the broken metal fence surrounding it, it was clear the school was abandoned.
The cab driver looking out the window gulps and glances at the girl in the back.
"Is this your destination miss?"
"Yes."
Mimi gets out of the car and shuffles inside her spiked bag to take out a leather wallet. Taking out a handful of cash, she passes it to the cab driver with a cool expression.
"Is this enough?"
The cab driver's eyes widened in disbelief.
Was it enough?! It was twenty times the amount of the original price!
"Ah, little lady, this is too much the total is only…"
"Take it." Mimi shoved the money in the man's hands before turning around to head toward the worn brick building.
Speechless, the cab driver looks at the money in his hand. He somehow felt dealing with such a scary girl for one hour was worth it.
As Mimi walked toward the entrance she stopped for a brief moment. From her spiky bag, Mimi takes out a pair of dark shades and a baseball cap. Putting them on and the packed crepe in her bag, she heads inside the building.
