Chereads / MIMI / Chapter 117 - Hidden Gem

Chapter 117 - Hidden Gem

Placing her cup of tea down, Mimi looked towards Emilia with a serious gaze. "I know it may be hard for you to believe what I'm saying. After all, I've broken your trust, and that's something that takes time to earn again. But…"

Pursing her lips together, Mimi averts her eyes and coughs.

"I hope we can start over. And this time you can get to know me as Mimi."

As Emilia watched Mimi's awkward expression and tone, she blinked her eyes dramatically, a faint smile forming on her face.

Lifting her chin, Emilia puffs out her cheeks with crossed arms.

"Well since you asked, I don't see why not." She harrumphed. "Besides, the fact that you've never had a friend before, I can't help but pity you. So just consider it as me committing a charitable deed and helping the pitiful."

Mimi's eyes darkened for a brief moment before a smile curled up on her rosy lips. Laughing softly, she nods her head.

"Excellent!"

A mischievous glint flashed through Mimi's eyes as she snickered and leaned close to the blonde beauty across from her.

"And this time I'll try even harder to make you fall in love with me."

Emilia was speechless. Almost immediately her face flushed red as a scowl settled on her face.

"Who fell in love with who? You must have imagined it! Like I'd ever fall in love with someone like you!" She glowed while averting her teasing purple eyes.

"Oh? Are you sure?" Mimi giggled mischievously. "If I'm not mistaken, we've already performed actions passed being friends."

Confused at first, Emilia begins recalling the time Mimi revealed her gender.

That's right, to her chest she…

Blushing even further, Emilia's brows twitch. "You…That wasn't my fault!"

"Is it not? My poor maidenhood was almost at risk there. How will you compensate me?" Mimi pouted pitifully.

Burning with embarrassment, Emilia points a trembling finger at her. "Shameless!"

"Only to you doll face," Mimi winked.

Feeling her heart skip a beat toward Mimi's seductive wink, she quickly turned her face away and pursed her lips.

Ah! It seems she was only worse as a girl! Her heart was even transmitting her mixed signals!

Who knew the two's friendship would be one no one would ever be able to forget…

After Mimi teased Emilia, the young girl quickly scurried out to leave the apartment. However, before leaving she stared at Mimi with a superior expression.

"This weekend, the two of us are going shopping. Because I'm such a good person, I'm giving a pitiful person like you the chance to experience shopping with a girl your age. Consider it our first outing as friends."

Mimi was taken aback and tilted her head. "Tomorrow?"

Noticing the girl's confused expression, Emilia's expression stiffens, a look of uncertainty and nervousness clouding her face.

"Ah, if you're busy that's fine…I was just asking."

Giggling, Mimi shakes her head and flashes a teasing smile. "No, I'm not busy. I'd love to go shopping with you!"

Inwardly sighing a breath of relief, Emilia quickly composes herself and crosses her arms.

"Of course you would. After all, who wouldn't want to shop with me, Emilia Yimo?"

Holding back the urge to laugh, Mimi nods her head and grins. "Mmm!"

Saying a few parting words, Emilia left, occasionally glancing back at Mimi who waved her goodbye.

Watching Emilia's departing figure with a faint smile, Mimi enters her apartment and shuts the door, a vacant expression overtaking her previous smile.

"Pitiful huh?" Mimi laughs bitterly.

Looking down at her hand with dull eyes, Mimi frowns. Even though she knew Emilia was joking, it still somewhat brought a disturbing feeling within her.

She never had a friend. She wasn't loved by her family. And she was abandoned by the one person she loved.

"Heh, I guess I am pitiful." Mimi laughed softly.

Shaking her head, Mimi looks back at the treats on the table and begins to munch happily onto them.

It seems like she just got her first friend.

"Hmm? You finished them already?" The male worker stared at the papers in his hand with an astonished expression.

"Yes, is there a problem?"

Looking at the girl dressed in tight leather clothing and dark shaded lipstick, the man gulped and shook his head.

"Ah, no not all! If anything, these are perfect. Good job, Mimi!"

At Glory Trade Corporation, Mimi, dressed in gothic clothing stared at the male employee with a blank expression – her eyes clearly looking at the man as if he were an idiot.

"Of course they're perfect," Mimi said, her tone cold. "And what's with the praise? Am I dog to you?"

After a moment of being dumbfounded by her words, the man was so shocked that he started coughing profusely. "No, that's not what I…"

"Am I done here?"

"Oh um, yes."

Without another word, Mimi walks away from the man's desk and heads back toward her office.

Observing the gothic girl's departing figure, the man scratches his head awkwardly.

Even though she was so young, he couldn't help but find her to be extremely intimidating.

Not just him, but many others in the office began to feel the same way toward Mimi, including a new sense of respect.

For the past few months, after the incident with Andras attending the company celebration dinner and revealing his sister was Mimi, everyone's point of view on her changed.

At first, many felt ashamed and somewhat resentful toward her for hiding her skills, as if she purposely made them look bad.

This had gone on for one month before they realized why the girl hid her skills.

She was simply too good! With the pace and skills, she was at, she could take over all of their jobs with no problems!

From the beginning, she was going easy on them.

Realizing the girl was a hidden gem, their view on her changed instantly.

However, those who tried to get close to her were merely refuted with her cold and blunt personality.

Everything they said would be brutally slapped right back in their faces.

"Eh? You want to treat me out to dinner? If you're not rich, what makes you think you can treat me to eat without going broke? Don't expect me to pay up for what you can't afford."

"Go shopping with you? Are you saying my style is ugly?"

"You want to be friends huh? Are you so lonely that you're reaching out to a teenage girl to be your friend?"

"No, I completed work already. I'm watching adult films right now. Want to watch? This is my favorite part. Look at how deep he goes. Do you like it rough or are you the gentle type?"

After many tries, they all discovered it was impossible to speak to the girl without dealing with a blunt or embarrassing remark.

All they could do was admire the rare yet strange girl from afar and treat her as they would with any employee…if they could.

During her lunch break, Mimi took out a lollipop from her pocket and sucked on it while scrolling through her phone, a set of headphones attached to her ears as she listened to music.

Distracted by her phone, Mimi hadn't detected the figure walking toward her.

"Ah…"

Mimi stumbled and tried to compose herself when she suddenly landed in a strong and hard set of arms. Strangely, she couldn't help but find them to be oddly familiar.

Squeezing the man's muscled arm, Mimi inwardly giggled up a storm.

Ah, how could she forget such beautiful muscles!

Looking up, and as she expected, Mimi's sparkling purple eyes were met with the handsome face of Tobias Itou.

However, as her gothic self, Mimi's expression remained emotionless.

"Mr. Itou, are you alright?" A woman's gentle voice spoke from behind.

Finding the voice familiar, Mimi's eyes shifted to the side to see Senior Su, and beside her was Eli Sato with Juno, Tobias's assistant standing behind Tobias.

Noticing that the figure in front of Tobias was Mimi, Senior Su's eyes narrowed, a dark glint flashing through her eyes before it disappeared in an instant.

But with her keen eyes, Mimi took notice of the woman's resentful stare toward her.

Hmm? What's this?

My, my, looks like a little mouse landed right into her little claws!
