I approached my room down the hall. Several servants were waiting outside obediently. When they saw me, they bowed courteously.
"Your Highness, the girl is all dressed up inside."
I nodded and told them to leave. When the hallway was clear, I opened the massive door to my room. Inside was darker than it should be so I quickly closed the door to prevent any noises from escaping the room. My senses were heightened upon shutting the door so I naturally caught the movement at the corner of my eyes. Quickly catching the thing that was moving towards me, I pinned the perpetrator to the wall. As my eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, I saw the person that attacked me. I looked at her in wonder. No one can easily forget those piercing eyes. XuanYing continued to look at me but made no further moves. I took this opportunity to glance at the arm that I grabbed. Within those delicate hands was a sharp hairpin. From the looks of it, she intended to stab me with them. I couldn't help but be amused by this. I looked at her and smiled mockingly nodding at the hairpin.
"Did you really think that you can kill me with a hairpin?" I asked. She just glared at me in response before turning her head in digust. I smiled as I looked over her at this moment and was delighted with how she was dressed. Dressed in a red thin gown, she was like a fiery flame. My attention was brought back to the position we were in when I felt her struggling in my hands. She obviously noticed the hunger in my eyes from looking at her. Who could blame her? The person sho wanted to assassinate was looking her over like a wolf eyeing a piece of meat. Each second she was struggling harder and harder, trying to hard to free herself and stab me. I sighed, starting to get annoyed with all the resistance. Never before did a female behave this way in front of me. They were all eager to get in bed with me in hopes of securing a position as a side wife. There were those that pretended they didn't care, but turned out to care whether I paid them any attention or not. But this girl... she truly doesn't care. She just wanted bloodshed. It would be so much easier if she was just less violent.
"Keep resisting and I wonder what will happen to the prisoners that were brought in with you," I casually said. Immediately, XuanYing stopped resisting. Her eyes widened in shock before she glared at me once again. I sighed once more at her difficult behavior.
"If you want to ensure their safety, I think you know what to do right?" I threatened, looking her in the eyes.
She clenched her teeth and I felt her loosen her tension. The next moment, there was a clack from the sound of the hairpin falling onto the floor. She looked away from me and closed her eyes as if giving up. Satisfied, I let her hands go, but not before throwing her on my bed. She landed softly there but did not move. I walked over there slowly. Seeing her so meek only fanned the growing desire within me. I wanted her.
As I approached her, I saw her eyes no longer contained the fire as they did before. She was staring blankly out into space. She didn't even flinch when I got on the bed and touched her. It seemed like an eternity for me as I slowly loosened the clothing she had on. When I finally got down to the last piece of clothing that she had on, she did not move nor make a sound as she continued to lay there. I looked at her carefully again. Her eyes were like a dead fish, holding no emotions. Seeing her like a doll, something in me did not feel good. The desire to have her was still there, but something else tugged at my heart. I suddenly had a feeling of wanting to protect her. Sighing, I sat up, uninterested in continuing what I started. I threw a blanket on top of her, effectively covering her up. I ran my hands through my hair in frustration. I thought I would like this situation but in the end, I didn't. I looked back at XuanYing. She had her eyes closed this time, but stayed still. Her tiny chest was rising as she continued to breathe.
"I don't feel like doing anything today. Consider yourself lucky," I lied. I got up and smoothed out my cloth. I started heading out the door when I stopped myself. I thought of the unmoving girl that was still on my bed. Something about her situation made me pity her.
"I'll get a maid to dress you up," I said, opening the door. A maid walked up to me waiting for instructions. In a quiet voice so that XuanYing doesn't hear, I said, "Get her some good clothing and food. Make sure everything is comfortable. Later, take her outside for a walk. She should get some fresh air."
The maid nodded and retreated to follow the instructions. I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes. So many things happened today that it felt surreal. I opened my eyes and glanced back to the closed doors. The girl inside must be terrified by everything that happened to her. I couldn't say I felt exact pity for her. Her family was the one that broke our alliance and tried to instigate a rebellion. They got what they deserved. At this thought, my heart hardened again and I didn't pity her anymore. I turned and walked down the hall to the office to resume the work I left.
