The term "dark" had become a synonym for Satan. As long as one was willing to go to the bad side, they would get great powers unfathomable by anyone, and pwn those players who practiced hard by normal methods within the game!
However, there was a price to be paid: one's religion or beliefs. In The New Age, there was a wide array of religions and belief systems for players to choose from: the Holy Light, Elemental Beliefs, different deities, and gods… in fact, attributes like freedom, peace, kindness were also considered as human players' beliefs.
