Alex Cobbler was the son of a shoemaker, however he didn't want to live like that. Against his families wishes he left and became a town guard. He still went to church every Friday to pray to the goddess Mother Mirah.
It was currently the afternoon and he had just received an envelope when leaving the church. He had returned to his quarters and was sitting down with a frown on his face. He stared down into his hand looking at a neatly sealed envelope and prayed it was not what he had feared. He tore open the envelope quickly reading its contents only for his face to become pale.
The contents of the letter was his marching orders. He was to head straight to a town called Redlvits at the boarder of the kingdom. At this point he had no choice but to go for if he fled he would be marked as a traitor and sentenced to death. Alex quickly grabbed a few things and threw them into a sac.
As he arrived at the door he quickly stopped only to turn around and grab his sword. He didn't have enough money to buy a weapon but upon joining the guard they would give him one to carry out his duty. He had used this sword for a couple of years now and it quality was very poor. When he had first received the sword it was already blunt and rusted.
He quickly left heading back towards the church. It was already turning dark by the time he arrived and the only person reaming was the priest. Even if he had arrived later it wouldn't matter for it was always open. He swiftly walked toward the shrine. Kneeling down before it he put his palms together and prayed, for strength, for protection.
After thirty minutes of praying he leaves towards the guardhouse. A womanly voice whispers in his ear "go forth my child." He quickly turns around only to see no one there. When he entered the guardhouse there was already 17 people waiting there. A muscular man with no hair rushes over upon seeing Alex. Slapping his back the man said "I thought you weren't coming." Alex sarcastically replied "As if i had a choice, Sam."
