Chapter 1 - Ah, the sweet scent of blood in the morning

"nghh..."

I woke up to the stench of blood invading my nostrils. Trying to move around I quickly stop as intense pain came surging through every part of me causing me to inhale sharply.

...

As the pain begins to fade away I struggle out from underneath the things crushing me.

"fwahh-"

Dead bodies everywhere, there where humans, beasts and plenty of other races laying in their own blood. Some were shredded to death, some died by arrows or some other weapon. And some died of unknown causes. Holding back my rising urge to vomit I dug through my thoughts, though all I remember was... absolutely nothing. Pushing that aside for the moment I decide to leave the area, the sight of all of those bodies leaves me with an uncomfortable feeling.

Trying to suppress the unease in my heart. I move into the surrounding forest towards the direction that according to some sensation, was north.

something doesn't seem right...why is my vision so low?

I look around, though nothing seems off if you compare the trees with the bodies of the dead humans, the trees don't seem to be too big.

is it just me that's small then?

I look down and see brown paws where my feet should be, looking backward what comes into my sight is a body of brown fur with a bushy tail. For some reason, I furrowed my brows at that sight.

am I not a human? No, why did I think I would be human in the first place...

shaking off the feeling that something wasn't adding up I continued my journey through the forest until a small lake came into view, only until then did I notice how thirsty I was.

After satisfying my parched throat I got a good look at myself through the reflection on the water. cute, surprisingly cute... like a little puppy.

"Yawn~"

Looking up into the night sky as fatigue starts rolling in I decide to move over to a bush and I curl up, falling asleep.

...

its been three days yet nothing...

I grumble alongside my stomach as I wander around the forest trying to find even a single scrap of food to eat.

Something seems wrong though, the forest seems unnaturally barren. Not a single creature has been seen in three days, nor have I found any nuts or mushrooms... the only thing in the forest is trees, trees, and some more trees, with a few bushes scattered around even the grass is lacking somewhat. It would be somewhat understandable if there were a few insects or birds at least, but there was absolutely nothing, not a single creature other than myself...

"grumble... grumble..."

Eh... I'm hungry... way too hungry...

I slowly continue wandering aimlessly around the forest in search of food. After some time I pick up a scent, blood, though still disturbed by it its presence means something alive or something that was alive.

Ah, the sweet scent of blood in the morning~

running to where the scent was coming from, I once again come to that place, the graveyard of those countless individuals I saw a few days ago. Though as some time passed the rotten stench had grown stronger multifold.

Looking around for anything still edible and to my surprise, most of the meat was still in decent condition even after laying around for a few days. Quickly heading over as my stomach starts to complain again I begin to feast on some of the flesh, slowly I ate more and more, more than what my body could normally keep.

[Condition Met: Scavenger, Evolving into Grey Wolf,]

Without paying much attention to the difference in my body or the message that appeared in my mind I continued to eat, eat, and eat even more to appease my unending hunger.

[Unatural State Of Mind Detected: Avarice-hunger, temporary boost of abilities will be given according to the amount and quality of substance eaten.]
