Chapter 5 - Beautiful and Annoying, Mere Bumps

The next day.

Blue Raine Family Estate.

Outside the Main Gates.

Lord Raine, Lady Raine, and Elder Zhu were having a chat while waiting for Jena, and keeping an eye on the two kids.

Jena, wearing a blue dress and carrying her small wrapped baggage of belongings, was escorted by her maidservant, to meet Elder Zhu and her parents outside the estate. When she noticed her parents, she ran up to them, and hugged them.

She noticed her parents hugged her a bit too tightly in return. She looked up and saw their faces full of grief.

She tilts her head. She didn't understand her parents' facial expressions, because she had never seen such faces before.

Lady Raine tenderly looked at Jena's confused face, and motioned her. "Do not worry about us, dear. You will be going to school soon. You must stay safe and enjoy school, okay?"

Lord Raine also saw Jena's confused face, and lovingly smiled. He took out a beautiful glass wisteria flower pendant, and placed it upon Jena's neck. "This pendant is yours, Jena. If you ever feel alone, play with this pendant, and think of us, okay? You must stay safe."

Jena nodded.

Lord Raine gently turned Jena around to face Elder Zhu. "Elder Zhu will be your guardian, and take you to school. He will also teach you everything he knows. And… be nice to other students, okay?"

Jena nodded again. Even if she did have something to say, she couldn't speak a word of it. Whatever her thoughts were, she kept them to herself.

For the Raine family, it was hard.

Their sole heiress and precious daughter, Jena, could only communicate through hand motions.

Elder Zhu understood this and observed them for a while, feeling a bit melancholic. If he had such a child, he would feel the same.

He moved his hands to indicate to Jena that she must go and follow him. He pointed to a nearby fancy horse carriage, to indicate that they will ride the carriage.

Jena slowly walked forward, before she turned to face her parents again. She sadly smiled a bit, and bowed a full ninety-degrees. After a while, she followed Elder Zhu and the kids to the horse carriage, never looking back.

Lord Raine and Lady Raine felt sadly conflicted. Tears were threatening to spill out, and Lady Raine pulled out a handkerchief trying to wipe them, while watching Jena's actions.

The horse carriage soon left.

She hugged Lord Raine, softly crying on his chest. Lord Raine gently, sadly smiled, hugging his wife. "We raised her well."

.

Inside the fancy horse carriage.

The interior is polished with metallic, white wood. Not painted, but natural and smooth to the feel.

Six large golden pillows lay above the white cushion seats.

Elder Zhu sat facing the door, Shui and Ran on one side, Jena on the other.

Jena watched outside the small window, while lying on one pillow and holding the other for comfort.

The plain, grassy ground, passed.

The bustling, lively people of the city. Happily chatting, screaming, fighting, playing. People leaving and entering the city gates, passed.

Small, plain hill and mountain ranges far away at a lonely distance, passed.

A calm, blue ocean, that had probably once raged with torrential, crushing waves before. Filled with unknown and mysterious sea creatures and secrets, swaying within the waters, never to be seen by ignorant humans on the land above, passed.

A lush, deep green jungle forest, filled with hidden dangers. Trodding down the only path under the trees and entering the shadows, sunlight could never pass through. Endless darkness at the horizon, passed.

Jena no longer observed, and rested on her pillows. Endless, multiple sceneries passed.

Until they reached the school, Jena only thought of them as beautiful and annoying, mere bumps in her journey. Sceneries were just soundless eye-candies and road bumpers.

Although Jena went to rest, an unwelcoming and disturbing feeling disrupted her. It's something she had often experienced in her past life, but she had yet to experience this within her new life until now. Her four year old self had been happy and healthy, aside from being deaf and mute.

A bit while later, she was still trying to sleep. That disturbing feeling within her erupted.

She opened the little window, peered her head outside, and vomited.
