Jena is now 4 years old.
She is able to walk and use a little bit of magic.
Mother and Father had arranged several diligent scholars and mages to teach her since the age of one. Although Jena was deaf and mute, they have all claimed that she is rather intelligent. She can read, write, and understand adult literacy and magic theories. She can also already question and criticize several points, which made them feel happy. They praised her, and believed that the Blue Raine family is truly blessed.
In Jena's mind, she considered herself 10 years old. Even though she could not hear nor speak, she was already rather intelligent thanks to Sen and her past dark life.
Sen was a natural Insignia born within her. Thanks to him, Jena's life had been completely dark because her body could not accept an artificial Insignia. However, at the same time, Jena never hated him. Sen was basically there for her, and told her numerous stories and theories about magic. Except that Sen could never see the daylight, and the world would never believe Jena's little story.
Sen had once told her, that magic can be anything.
If you can imagine it, then you could make it. With an Insignia, any magic is possible.
Within her own little courtyard, Jena sat on a stone bench under the Amethyst Wisteria tree, eyes closed, cultivating a few Insignia systems and magics.
A breeze slightly passed by, making a few wisteria leaves and petals dance around her, as if the wisteria tree was trying to talk to her.
A maidservant tapped her shoulders, writing. "Little Miss, Lord Raine requests you."
Jena slowly opened her eyes and nodded.
The only problem is communication.
In this world, there are no established sign languages for the deaf and mute. Those sort of people are never to be seen nor heard of. Her scholar and mage tutors had to design a communication method specifically for her. At this stage, it's simply handwriting movements and body language.
Jena hopped off the bench and exited her little courtyard, with her maidservant walking behind her.
[The tree leaves and flower petals floated around me again. I wonder, can I use them for magic? That scenery… It's too beautiful not to be used… I must find a way to create it… A pity that I am weak now.]
Jena was just simply walking down a long passageway while thinking to herself.
All of a sudden, she was bumped to a wall. She placed her hands over her head, and started tearing up.
[Ouch… That hurts… Who is it now…?]
She saw her maidservant's panic-stricken face, trying to help and pick her up. The maidservant turned around and pointed towards a little boy whose butt is on the floor. He too had pain written over his face.
Jena quickly motioned to her maidservant. "I am okay. Put me down."
The maidservant quickly put Jena down, carefully observing her.
Jena walked up to the little boy. He was shouting something at her, that got her maidservant visibly angry. A pity that she could not read lips.
With a straight poker face, she flicked his forehead, and walked away.
The maidservant was astonished, because she saw something that she did not dare believe. Aside from being a maid, she was also a lowly mage. After Jena flicked the little boy's forehead, it seemed that his magic talent has surged…?
She truly did not dare believe it, and just chased after Jena. That little boy also chased after them.
.
A while later. End of the long walk.
Lord Raine's Courtyard.
A large Golden Wisteria tree looms over a white wood gazebo.
Lord Raine and Lady Raine were sitting inside, discussing something with an elder and a boy over tea.
Jena arrived just outside, and noticed that something didn't seem quite right. While they were still talking, her parents' expression were visibly grave and serious.
Sometimes, she wished she could hear.
