We reach the gates of Auriluire, apparently I don't have to lift a finger as Gavin speaks to the guard and gets us inside the city. The stone walls seem a lot more imposing than the wooden walls of the previous city. I'm told this is because a lot more people we will encounter now actually have money and that this is probably the last town we won't be charged to enter.
I decide to spend enough for a good inn for me and Elyn, we share the same room with a double bed but now we have something comfy to lay on. Our guards went and hired their own rooms from an inn down the street which is cheaper, but I did get two small rooms nearby for the party leaders to live close enough to be by bodyguards should it be required.
This got me treated almost like royalty by the innkeeper who probably hasn't had someone ask for something like that before and even if they had, not for two people more than likely.
I sent out some of the group members for errands, making sure we have warmer clothes, buying some blankets and winter clothes, but I will probably have to get some custom made so they actually look nice.
Elyn as usual wanted to wander around town looking for different snacks, apparently there was a stand selling things that look like kebabs with a bunch of different ingredients on them. Both of us try one to find out one of the meats tastes really nice, we got told it was a type of rare deer found in these parts which apparently guilds rate as an iron rank danger. Which starts giving me the idea to hunt down more of these creatures as I casually buyout all of the deer meat the man has on offer using snacks as an excuse, I save a few bits of meat for each of the people working for us as I feed the rest to Elyn who kept giving me a bit so I wasn't left out.
Besides the food and clothes shopping, I decide having something more than the dagger I brought with us would be a good choice. After asking directions with the help of Gavin intimidating anyone who thought to steal or extort money from me, we found ourselves at a weapon shop.
The clanging of metal frightened Elyn at first, so I ask Gavin to look after her outside while I go in to take a look. The banging of metal coming from the back of the shop was pretty noticeable once we got somewhat close. apparently the shop is at the edge of the town for two reasons.
First reason is the noise, and I can agree not wanting to put up with this every day.
The second is the business. We past right by this blacksmiths last evening, which shows how placement can help as he likely gets many requests for repairing weapons.
Instead of the stereotypical male dwarf, smithing away out the back like I was expecting, I'm met with a short girl carrying around logs and charcoal.
"Are you the blacksmith here?" I probably look as confused as I feel but I don't want to get something wrong so I ask politely.
"No that would be my dad, he is currently out the back working, what can I do for you?" She puts down the logs she was carrying, her face covered in black marks probably from the charcoal as she asks.
"Ah yes, I was looking to see if there were any long daggers I could consider buying, I'm only here for a few days so I don't wish to rush you with a custom order. I could also do with a set of throwing daggers if you have anything small enough for that. I think back to my failed throw the first time and begin to blame my lack of proper weapons rather than my lack of skill.
