"This fucktard doesn't deserve anything!" Hirayama Miyuko screamed, her black eyes flashing in fury as she pointed across the table to her husband, Hirayama Togai. Her chest heaved with every angry breath she took.
The four others in the room- the mediation panel for the Hirayama's divorce- had equal expressions of worry and fear on their faces.
The judge, an old man with short, white hair and a kind, old face, knew that it was his duty to speak up despite his frayed nerves. He coughed and turned to the policewoman. "Calm down, Hirayama-san[1],"
The woman, like a she-devil, turned her blazing eyes towards the judge, and the judge was sure that he could feel the heat despite the distance between them. Giving a short, barking laugh, Miyuko placed her hands on her hips. "Calm down? Calm down! The fuck I'll calm down!" She grounded her left heel on the carpet, shifting the weight from the tips of her toes to the heels of her feet. Her short, pencil skirt strained from her shift in position as she returned to glaring at her husband. "I want a divorce."
The mediation panel turned to look at Hirayama Togai, the young man a very picture of calm and tranquility. The son of a fling between a blonde foreigner and the past Oyabun[2] of the Kawamura-kai syndicate, Hirayama had his mother's platinum blonde hair and his father's deep black eyes. Despite the scene his wife was making, Togai's handsome features displayed a small smile.
Sensing Togai's silence, Miyuko slammed her hands on the table once more, leaning in to hiss at the young man. "Fucking hell. Divorce me, bastard."
The judge tried to defuse the situation. "Hirayama-san, please-"
A deep chuckle froze everyone in the room. It seemed as if the temperature dropped ten degrees as the mediation panel turned to the once-tranquil young man. Instead, they felt as if a large dragon was looking down on them, despite Togai not even facing the mediation members. Instead, the table before him was the only one in the room subjected to his full wrath.
"Miyuko."
Miyuko shivered. Almost as if she couldn't help it- and she really couldn't- her knees buckled, and she sat back down on her seat with a 'thunk'. She weakly stared at Togai, his very aura even more powerful than the serial murderer she had taken down last week. "W-what?"
"It's already been five months," Togai gently said, lifting his face to stare at his pale wife. His emotionless state morphed into a warm smile, lessening his powerful presence. He made eye contact with his wife as he 'pleaded', "No matter how many mediations we have, I will never divorce you."
With her temper flaring up, Miyuko stood, forcefully ignoring Togai's murderous aura. "I'll run away! And I'm taking Yukiko with me!"
"You dare?" a growl escaped from Togai's lips, and Miyuko couldn't help but shiver once more. The young man's gentle, smiling exterior transformed once more into that of an oni[3]. After a few seconds, Togai forcefully expelled a breath before he returned to his warm mask. "Fine."
Breaths of relief escaped from every member in the room, and even Miyuko couldn't help the small exhale that escaped her pink lips. Before she could smile, however, Togai continued. "Only if Yukiko visits me every other week."
"No!" Miyuko's eyebrows furrowed. "My daughter can't be around a-a!"
"A what?" Togai grinned, his eyes daring Miyuko to continue.
"A yakuza!"
The room fell into a tense silence, and the only thing heard was Miyuko's heavy breathing. Every member watched with fearful eyes as Togai leaned in his chair, lifting the two front legs. "Then I get parental authority."
"No!"
"Custody, then."
"No!"
"Miyuki," Togai wolfishly grinned before he slammed the chair back onto the ground. Miyuki flinched as Togai did what she had done a few seconds ago- he slammed his hands onto the table, leaning in to whisper to Miyuki, "Parental authority and every other week, Miyuki."
Despite her best effort, Miyuki couldn't fight against Togai's bloody aura. Defeated, she hung her head down, her chin touching her chest. Her voice was merely a whisper as she said, "Fine."
Togai's booming laughter blocked out the relieved disclosure from the Judge, stating that the divorce between Hirayama Togai and Hirayama Miyuki had concluded, leaving custody over their daughter, Hirayama Yukiko, to Hirayama Miyuki and parental authority to Hirayama Togai.
Hirayama Miyuki, now Yasumi Miyuki, fisted her hands. At least she had gotten rid of her marriage to the bastard. She could handle the rest.
Hirayama Togai, on the other hand, hid a smile. A divorce didn't mean that Miyuki had gotten rid of him.
His scheme ran long and deep.
