She stepped into the hallway and a musky damp smell was in the air.
This was the old pathology building; it contained offices, various rooms, and a mortuary downstairs. When the hospital was first built many moons ago, the then-hospital director was superstitious and believed that those who died violently or with uncertain deaths could bring bad luck to the hospital. So, they had built a self-contained building elsewhere.
The building probably just became forgotten or was placed further and further down on the list of priorities to renovate.
This whole area was a long-forgotten segment... a relic of the past. However, to her, it became the place she was relegated to when she was finished with her clinical duties.
