Xu Rouguang stared at the room blankly as he sat up on his bed. His hands were on his lap, palms facing up with his fingers twitching from time to time.
He could still remember the warmth coming from Nuwa's body when he was holding her. His hands engraved the feeling of her crumbling body deep into his mind. It wasn't his fault that she died, but most of these led here... because of him.
The child would accept that readily.
"Rou..." A voice traveled into the room, and it woke Xu Rouguang from his trance. He looked up and smiled at his husband as his hands moved to cup his lap. Lai Mingjie went to his bedside and reached out to rub his cheek. "Sorry, that blast must have hurt."
"Don't worry. At least I wasn't out cold on the ground." The general then moved to get to his knees and sat on a different spot on the bed. Lai Mingjie moved from reaching out his left hand and facing him to turning to his right and just merely watching his wife.
