In the heart of the Amazon rainforest, the abyss of whispers became known as one of the seven deadly areas of the world.
The abyss of whispers had another name that was often used, the soul-eater. Since its emergence in the Age of Origin also known as the Age of Apocalypse, the people who came to venture and search the abyss to unravel their secrets were many to be told. However, they all had something in common. After they had passed through the fog that was 15 m deep, they never returned.
Over the years more and more people came to try to discover the secrets of that place with the goal of becoming famous. Too bad their desires ended in death.
Soon scientific corporations from around the world sent their best scientists to dissolve this mystery. But, as always, no one ever came back. Even if a person is tied with all the mountaineering equipment involved in his body, when his body went into the fog it seemed to have been sucked down and the people holding the rope were pulled together.
They tried to send a drone, but the drones stopped working, the cameras lost their signal and the scariest thing was that everyone watching the footage, no matter how far they were, was in a vegetative state. It was as if their souls had been ripped from their bodies.
Since then the powers that ruled the world in that era, announced to the world that the abyss of whispers was a forbidden area.
At that moment, on the edge of the abyss, two young men were trapped by five people.
One of the young men with black hair and brown eyes was standing with the help of a branch. There were wounds all over his body making his ragged white clothes soaked with blood. Some wounds were so deep you could see the bones, but the worst was located in your dantian. He was crippled.
The other young man had only a few injuries. His golden hair and green eyes gave a sense of holiness, it seemed like he was an angel. His face showed traces of coldness and indifference.
"Thank you, Gabriel." Chao Kun was cornered and about to die when his best friend arrived at the last moment, broke the dam and was now on his side. Gratitude appeared in his eyes.
As an answer, Gabriel just smiled.
"Hahaha Chao Kun, you fool. You do not know what's going on right now, this person you call a best friend is on our side hahaha." One of the young men in the siege said mockingly on his face.
"That's right, he's actually our leader and everything that's happened to you is thanks to him hahaha" Another sneered.
"Boys, if you want to lie at least do it right, he's my best friend, he's always been on my side and he's always helped me. How can he be on your side and even be your leader?" Chao Kun was infuriated by his lies. His friend was someone he trusted unconditionally. "If you want to lie, at least do not say he's your leader, is not Gabriel?"
With a warm smile on his face, he looked at Gabriel, only to see a smile of contempt and mockery on his face.
A cold passed down Chao Kun's spine. He could feel that something was not right. When he wanted to ask what it was, he saw that Gabriel was pushing him into the abyss.
In his disbelief, Chao Kun did not even respond.
His eyes only watched Gabriel's face become disgusting, full of contempt, mockery, and scorn. As if what he was throwing off the cliff was not his "best friend" but a simple insect.
When he finally reacted just one word left: "WHY?"
Soon his body went into the fog.
***********
At the edge of the abyss, the group of six were laughing.
"You saw his face? It was hilarious. He said with such confidence that the boss was his brother and in the end, when he discovered the truth, his face was the best."
"Do not forget the cry at the end. It was so funny."
"Hmpf, if that useless one did not get involved with the woman the boss likes, no one would pay any attention to him."
"A loser like him, I do not know how the princess in our college has an interest in him. I think she just used that garbage as a shield."
"Now that we've taken her shield, let's see how she protects herself from the advances of boss Kekeke."
"With the great talent of the boss, he is the perfect match for our little princess."
Gabriel was just silent with a smile on his face. He knew that college princess, Chu Bing, really liked Chao Kun. He simply did not know the reason and Chao Kun was retarded in the matter of QE, never realizing the feelings of Chu Bing by him.
But now none of that matters, he has already removed the obstacle that prevented him from pursuing the conquest. Little did he know that there was no chance of that happening.
***********
Within the abyss, after the fog.
After entering the fog, Chao Kun began to fall faster. It was as if the gravity of that place were greater.
However, he did not seem to pay attention to that. Tears rolled out of his eyes, but in the strong wind, his face became even more miserable.
Chao Kun lost his parents and relatives when he was still four years old since then he began to live with his parents' friends.
There he had a father, a mother, and a little sister. His adoptive parents were extremely affectionate with him. They treated him like a real son and he always felt grateful to them.
Your little sister, Chu Bing, has always been by your side. He remembered how he used to protect her from some bullies until they began to cultivate.
When it came time to test cultivation affinities, Chu Bing was extremely talented. She caught the attention of the whole world and people at the top wanted to take her as a disciple.
In comparison to her, Chao Kun had a crappy talent. Their affinity was very low. He was at the bottom of the pit.
His parents told him that his constitution was very different from normal people and that was why he looked weak, but that he would certainly be very strong one day. Of course, Chao Kun believed that it was only his parents comforting him.
Thanks to his sister, he eventually went to college. She used her talent to build an opportunity for him. Since the woman wanted Chu Bing to be her disciple, she accepted the request.
Chao Kun did not feel very happy about it, but only the strong could speak in this world. Then he made the decision to strive in cultivation. He believed that even without the talent if he cultivated with effort and willpower one day he would be strong.
Too bad that even if he tried harder than others, always cultivating when he could, the manipulation of qi was very unstable. So something normal students took half a year to understand, he needed a whole year.
A trash.
As they recognized him like trash, no one wanted to start a friendship with him. Only her sister would talk to him occasionally when she came out of isolation. She always treated him well.
Since he did not want people to start befriending him just to get close to his sister or that others from the college elite despised his sister, he asked not to be in public places.
But one day Gabriel began to talk to him. Over time they became best friends. He discovered that Gabriel was part of the college elites and was among the top three.
However, it did not matter much to Chao Kun. He believed that Gabriel was his only and best friend, his belief was so great that he even said that Chu Bing was his sister.
Too bad, as Gabriel said, Chao Kun is a complete idiot when it comes to emotions. He did not perceive Chu Bing's looks at him, let alone Gabriel's glances at her.
But now it was too late. The only thing he could do was curse Gabriel in his mind.
"Gabriel, if I survive this, I'll turn your life into hell!"
As time passed Chao Kun's mind calmed down and he began to pay attention to his surroundings.
He could feel the pressure of the air and thanks to his cultivation his body was stronger than those of an ordinary human, allowing him to survive the pressure.
But now that he had calmed down, he began to feel a strange feeling, as if he were being taken from his body slowly, slowly but surely. His soul was leaving his body.
