Chapter 275 - You Need An Intelligence Division

[Spencer POV]

(Two days later…)

We were finally back at Green Shelter.

After the human/rat group joined Blackie, he managed to regain control of his army after an hour. Right now, he is still looking for some that managed to escape before he appeared, but everything was going fine. Even if he lost a part of his army and was weakened the threat of the Hive was gone.

With the Victory over the queen bee, the beast group moved farther to the east looking for better pastures. It was close enough to keep the alliance going if the need arises.

Of course, not all went as good as we wanted. Blake was injured during the battle protecting Ines, beside him two more of them were heavily wounded, all of them were taken care of by some guy with a healing ability that I didn't know.

The result of the battle was quite profitable for me.

More than a thousand beast kills were given to me by the system, waiting for the Queen to lay the eggs before blowing them up paid off for sure. 8 Attribute Points, 7 Skill Points, and more than 10k EP, with that I had enough to upgrade my INT to 40 and fulfill the requirement. I used some points to upgrade my WIS to 35, both were the most important stats right now to control my powers in the right way.

The remaining three points were untouched for the moment.

During the walk back home, I kept trying to get my head around what happened with the guy, after everything was finished, Rose couldn't recall him either. I checked the place where he disappeared one more time before leaving, but there was nothing else to find in there.

When I asked Rose about it, she was at loss too, she knew what I was talking about, but just like me, the guy was removed entirely from her memories.

Did he really exist?

Everything felt so unreal as if it was just a story I heard from someone else.

There was only one more person that got a similar feeling, the new Esper in training Kamila, Rose remember talking with her, but a part of the conversation was lost.

The guy must have made a significant impact on Kamila's decision to train, but despite that she remembers Rose as the one that convinced her to control her power, she felt that someone else was there but wasn't sure who it was.

Besides her as much as I tried to recall or find more information during the day, no one knew anything about him. Dante was in charge of digging into everyone's memories and tried to discover more about him, but so far, we couldn't find anything besides the hole in Kamila's mind.

Dante will go more in-depth, looking for repressed or modified memories, but that one will take a lot more time before we get results.

I just wrote everything that I knew about the guy (which was just two lines), but I wasn't even sure why I was doing it, was it because he was rejected by the reality or there was something else?

A week went by quickly, even if it was late, Isabella forced us to have a Thanksgiving dinner, it was nice to feel like everything was normal for a change and seeing Dana happy was relaxing for our minds.

I practiced a little more and finally upgraded my skill "Rules are meant to be broken" to Level 2. I wanted to finish the mission, but a meeting about the results of the alliance and the evaluation of the "elite group" was taking place soon. The vortex will have to wait till tomorrow.

The reason for this meeting to take so long to be held was that Blake and the other wounded stayed at the hospital, Milo or Frederik could have done the report, but Dr. Harting after asking how it went didn't make further questions, he wanted Blake there for the report.

On the already familiar meeting room, almost the whole elite team was waiting. Giorgio and one of the goons were heavily wounded and weren't coming this time, from the remaining, just Milo, Sophie and Rose had yet to come.

Hayley was on the table talking with Ines and drinking water. I took my usual seat near Dr. Harting.

'The meeting is about to start, where are you?'

Rose blinked to my side when I asked her where she was.

'Sorry I was with Kamila.'

'How is she doing?'

'Her power is still unstable, so we are in a safe house outside the city while she learns how to control it. Sophie is there helping her.'

Milo appeared shortly after that, he apologized and explained that a lot of people was asking for a Christmas leave and the squad leaders were bothering him about it. With his arrival, Dr. Harting looked around and asked.

"Are we ready?"

"Yes, Sophie is in a mission so she will not come, the other two are still in the hospital."

Kamila's training mission was coordinated by Blake, so he knew who was there.

Thanks to the real battle experience, Sophie could learn a lot about her power and how to control it, making a huge breakthrough.

While I was following Kamila's background to discover any other contact with the mysterious guy, I made a quick analysis of her ability and found out that hers and Sophie's were similar, they were Aura infusers, so Sophie was the perfect person to help her control it, it was also a test for her.

"No problem, start."

Milo was the first to talk, he explained what they found when they arrived and the process to ask for reinforcement when they understood the situation.

Blake continued with the arrival coordination and alliance, followed by the night attack of the Hive. Then he explained about Rose's investigation, prediction, theory, and the strategy they made with that information.

Dr. Harting interrupted the story for the first time at that time.

"Did anyone else knew something about what she explained at the time?"

They looked at each other. I knew where that was going.

The guy that got the healing power raised his hand.

"I knew some of it, the drones die when mating and the types of bees, but their life cycle after that was new for me."

Dr. Harting nodded his head.

"Good thinking, this works in favor of the forced evolution theory Spencer."

I nodded in understanding, the fact that most of the traits stayed the same was a solid foundation for our theory.

"Continue…"

After that, he informed the way they prepared, and the battle, the weird event at the end and the solution to the beast going crazy were also mentioned, but there wasn't much to say about it.

"Any information about that weird event?"

Everyone shook their heads. I already mentioned my theory to him previously, and there was nothing else to add.

The room was in silence for a few seconds. He finally looked at me.

"Any thoughts about the mission."

"the handled the situation well, but I think you also noticed the main problem of all this mission. You lack an intelligence division. Rose investigation was done by her and Hope in the library, it was that knowledge that made the plan. From what I heard from Mr. Ryan, The development of communication systems is going well, so I'm not worried about it, but you need a group of people that can investigate and support the teams with information that they don't have for situations like this."

Dr. Harting nodded, he also noticed the problem.

"I have been thinking the same, besides the power in your group one of the main difference is the source of knowledge, with Dante, Rose and Hope to investigate anything almost instantaneously we always had all the information we needed, when your group leaves that's going to be a major problem."

"What does he mean when you are gone?"

Some people knew that we were leaving, but for Ines and some others, this was the first time hearing about it.

"We are leaving after the new year. That's the main reason for this mission, not including most of my group was to see potential problems when we are gone."

"Wait, how many are leaving? Are Hayley and Sophie staying behind? They were on the mission too."

"Hayley was there to be sure that no one got hurt, and Sophie the same as all of you for training. I can't talk for them, but I plan to take them with me as long as they want to come."

Ines turned around to look at Hayley. She didn't expect this turn of events, and I could see the doubt on her eyes.

"I-i… haven't decided yet."
