The first change I made was my weapon.
The spear was excellent to pierce through the defense of most of the reptiles, but against the toad, I don't need it. The Spear vanished from my hands, and a couple of dark grey scimitars took its place. They weren't made from ranked-beasts but instead it was an alloy made from carbon fiber and titanium.
Instead of blinking I accelerated myself and shrink the space, the effect was almost the same, but the method was different. Also, with my Accelerated Senses, I could react to any plan that the Toad might have.
With the amount of EP that I have, I could have bought all the enhancements, but I understood the difference between E and D-Rank. It was better to wait until I could get a D-Rank power than getting a bunch of lower rank powers.
The Rainbow Toad was about a meter high and as the name says it has 7 different colors on its body. The aura had a predominating grey color that came from its mind powers but focusing on it carefully I noticed other colors, forms, and feelings from some areas.
That strange yet familiar feeling that came from the right eye was clearly from a time-related power, which confirms that he had a precognition kind of ability there.
That was the main reason for changing from blinking to Accelerate + Shrink, it gave me enough time to react to the modification that the toad made.
This could go two ways depending on how his power worked.
The first was that it was showed only one future each time it was used, in which case it would be rendered useless accordingly to my adaptation.
The second was the visualization of the future splitting as it changed his answer showing him an infinite amount of options.
In any case, the advantage of seeing the future was annoying but not overwhelming.
Now that I dealt with two of his most annoying powers I held the advantage.
With a quick twist of my body I avoided the incoming tongue, both blades danced around me, the one in the left hand aimed to cut the tongue and the one in the right went for the Toad in a backhand grip. It wasn't optimal, but the movement motion felt more natural that way.
The Toad jumped back leaving my range without a problem, and against my expectations, the scimitar wasn't enough to cut the tongue. The tongue wasn't only hard but also sticky, so the moment it touched my scimitar, it was as if they got welded together.
The Toad retracted its tongue, but I didn't let the blade go and instead used the tongue to get to the Toad faster.
As I shot into the Toad, I noticed that the lower part of the mouth was getting wider and wider. When I thought that it couldn't handle it anymore, it threw a green colored gas in my direction.
This time I had to let the sword go and blink into the Toad. The plants in the area started to get dissolved by the acid mist.
As if predicted before I had to let the scimitar go while the toad jumped away to keep its distance. I took my chance, I slowed down the toad and with my now free hand threw an accelerated dagger while the toad was still in mid-air.
The dagger flew in a straight line and…
It slides.
"Come on! How many powers do you have!"
It was frustrating.
One on each eye, probably two on the tongue, the acid mist, the improved jump and now is it oil or something like that on the skin?
Seven powers… is it because of the seven colors?
I was getting annoyed by the surprises, but this should be the last one.
As I thought about it, the toad already threw another acid mist and this time ignited it.

*BOOOOOM*
The sudden explosion that came from further away scared me. It took me a couple of seconds to remember that that was the place where Spencer was fighting.
"No, Spencer!"
I was going to run in that way when a voice called me over.
"Stay calm!! That's plan B."
I looked back at Hayley who had just finished her fight. If she wasn't worried it meant that everything should be ok. Right?
"Plan B?"
"When things don't work… you blew it up."
"You mean… Spencer did that?"
*BOOOOM*
"…Probably."
Now that I think about it he did blow up half the forest before…
"Doesn't that mean that he is having troubles handling the Toad? Shouldn't we go and help him?"
She gave me a wry smile.
"Have you thought why he did go by himself?"
I looked around and understood what she meant. It's not like all of us are needed to stay here to handle these beasts… it was overkill.
"If the Toad manages to bypass Rose's protection, it would be the same as before, and someone might get hurt for real this time."
I understood that he went there to fight by himself to protect us, it makes sense.
"He should be fine."
*BOOM*

(Spencer's POV)
I managed to blink away just in time
'This damn beast just used plan B on me!!!'
Also… those are 8 powers… or maybe the tongue is enhanced after all the things it showed are reasonable for a toad's tongue right?
Whatever there is no point in counting them…
*BOOOOM*
My blink was predictable, but this time I already knew what was coming. Space and time surrounding me changed.
Chaotic Zone.
The blast was frozen in some spots, accelerated in others and changed into a weird shaped explosion. The uneven explosion coupled with the odd wind drafts provoked by the chaotic zone, made the explosion go in a completely different direction.
The remaining blade disappeared from my hand, and two new daggers appeared on my hands. These daggers were shaped differently from the one that I used before, shorter and thinner designed to penetrate and not to cut.
Both daggers left my hands one after another directly towards the Toad. The Toad jumped in slow motion and the first one suddenly accelerated. As he probably predicted, the first dagger landed near one of its tights and slid without puncturing the flesh.
I already expected this. Both daggers were under the effects of my infuse ability, but the infuse of the second one was different.
Blink.
The second dagger vanished from its place and reappeared with the point in the middle of a joint. Despite the oil protecting the skin there, I placed the blink, so there was no place for the dagger to slide to. After the toad jump, its fate was sealed.
The dagger punctured the skin of the leg joint.
There was no way to predict it because I didn't make the decision of where the dagger would blink until the last moment.
A screech came from the Toad's mouth. I blinked into it and was ready to thrust my spear on its mouth. At that moment my sixth sense tingled as I noticed the green mist coming from the screaming toad.
*BOOM*
Shrink… Accelerate.
I had to step back to avoid the explosion, this time there wasn't enough mist for the blast to be that large, but it was a desperate attempt for survival because there was something that it couldn't predict.
The chaotic zone was totally random.
And the place where it landed was a Spatial Lock.
The Toad couldn't avoid my attacks anymore so after I stepped back I changed my stance and focused on the tip of the spear ready to throw it.
*Sight*
'This doesn't feel right.'
"Spatial Breaker."
I hate this, but it does help to focus on the effect you want. At least no one is here to hear me out.

The headless toad was lying in the same place it was locked.
Behind it at the same height of where the head used to be, was a perfect tunnel that lasted until it got lost in sight. It was as if someone carefully cut all the branches to create that effect on purpose and got rid of what he cut.
Rose knew that the battle ended and appeared at my side looking in awe at the path of the spear.
"You figured it out?"
"More or less… it still needs some work, but it's already useful in battle."
I didn't feel right, my head hurt, but that wasn't the worse part. There was something else trying to break me, bypassing all my defenses. Rose presence comforted me and protected me to a certain extent.
I knew what was happening.
The reality and the world laws knew what I just did, something that was against any logic and wasn't meant to be.
The effect wasn't covered, the laws weren't just slightly bent or changed with permission, there was no logical explanation to what I just did.
It was something so disgusting that reality couldn't allow it.
It was when I understood the effects of using a power that isn't supposed to exist.
