The sound spread and the effect could be seen instantaneously. Coincidentally I started at the right moment to help out G in his battle. The beasts that were more affected were most likely the ones that were in yesterday's fight at the east gate… Those recognized the killing intent from the whistle.
Since I'm not with Dante, this is most likely just a temporary repercussion of yesterday's resonance, but it was enough for us to gain the upper hand during the first clash.
Trembling and escaping beasts could be seen on the battlefield… Instead of using her abilities as a general debuff on a big number of beasts, Hayley used it to take them out one by one, but she focused the unaffected ones since it made no difference for her.
I have yet to get into the fight for real, I wanted to focus on using my whistle to the max for the longest time possible, but as soon as I notice that the effect of the fear decreases, I'll join the fight too.
Until that point, I'll stay here seeing how the battle change. The chaotic battle between rats and the cow's minions was the same as the beginning with the difference that there were more beasts incapable of fighting back because of my ability.
*MOOOOO*
I'm not sure what was the cow saying, but the beasts didn't react to whatever it said… But I saw the black sheep opening its eyes for a moment… I think I can see it open its mouth, but no sound came out of it.
In the meantime, in contrast to the chaotic battle in the rat's side, a more organized battle was happening in our place… Of course, there were some exceptions. Given the nature of the fight is not that bad if some people run around killing beasts without restrains, both G and Zak were doing it… Zak just took down a chimera of bull and goat with the support of the snipers and G was careless and had to be saved by Hayley when he was electrocuted by a sheep.
The sheep looked harmless, but we all know that we can't let down our guards with any of these beasts, you never know what power they have, Dante is enough evidence of the potential that a little animal might be able to hide inside.
I noticed the effect of the whistle was being weakened. I have no way to be entirely sure about it, but I would bet that the black sheep has something to do with it. It was too far away behind the other beasts to try to take it down… And it also was at the side of the alpha, and until I have an idea of its abilities, attacking it was a bad idea.
Those beasts that at the beginning acted in an erratic and scared way because of my whistling, slowly started to make fewer mistakes and fight seriously.
I dashed forward just in time to see a horse being knocked down by one of Blake's punches. Every time I saw one of his attacks it was a sight to behold, this should be by far the strongest attack in our whole army.
A bull was trying to sneak attack Mark while he was busy blocking the relentless attacks of a fast-moving goat… It was a headbutt after headbutt in quick succession and different angles, a speed type… Any other person would have fallen, but Mark managed to hold his ground deflecting every attack effectively…
In a rapid movement, I used Accelerate to avoid a beast on my way and thrust the spear at one of the front legs. The attack was precise and fell on the remaining knee. It was enough to deal severe damage. After piercing the bull, I quickly retracted the spear, and the bull fell on his face before getting near Mark.
Before it got back on its feet, I pierced the back of his neck dealing the final blow. Slow didn't let him even try to react and retaliate as it was finished in a rapid and fluid motion.

This action was quickly followed by Time Bubble. This was the first time that I used the upgraded version of Time Bubble in a large-scale battle. The fact that I can make it affect only my enemies now was a huge cheat in this situation.
The movement of the beasts was halved, some people were surprised by the sudden change, while the ones that fought in the escape from the Aurora Clinic recognized what was happening and increased the pace of their attacks, they knew that the time was limited, so they had to use this chance to deal as much damage as possible.
I didn't fall behind, a chicken met his end after the slash of my scimitar.
Using the scimitar felt weird at first…
I could put more strength behind my attacks with this weapon, but I had to control the momentum of the attacks more carefully if I wanted precise attacks. The idea of getting a second scimitar and spin around the battlefield came to my mind, but unless I have in my hands a pair of good scimitars of at least the same quality as the spear, I don't see myself trading weapons any time soon.
I kept whistling from time to time… I couldn't give orders to organize the attack, but Blake was in charge of that. I focused the fear inducement in fewer beasts around me to make it more effective. Those that were affected by yesterday's killing intent were also a good target.
After taking care of a pig, piercing it with the spear on his snout, my sixth sense alerted me of an incoming threat, the time was still moving slower so I could see in slow motion as a fireball and a bunch of feathers came in my direction.
It didn't take much time to identify the source. A horse that came from the right flank and duck that was floating mid-air. Apparently, the heavyweights of the cow's army already noticed me.
Unlike before, I couldn't see what was happening in other places. I got worried about the situation on the right flank where Zak was fighting, but I had to worry about myself, even if it is cruel, there are enough rats to cover for them if they fail their mission.
I rolled to the side to avoid the fireball and the feathers, but unexpectedly the feathers changed their direction at the last moment. I could still deflect two of them and barely dodge another, but one of them made a little cut on my arm while the other pierced my shoulder…
An explosion somewhere in the left flank made me lose my focus for a second, I think it was farther away, but I couldn't be entirely sure… I thought about G briefly, but the feathers moved again as if they were called back by the duck and take their places in the duck's wings.
I used my eyes to look at the duck… It had two abilities, the feathers had a metallic shine, that explained how they were able to hurt me, and this was coupled with some kind of mental ability similar to telekinesis. Thanks to that it could float without moving his wings and control the feathers when he attacked…
Both injuries closed at a visible rate as I focused my gaze on the duck. It was out of my reach, so it was the snipers or the long-range fighters job to take it down, I couldn't risk throwing my spear… If I miss, only God knows where it would fall.
As if reading my thoughts someone shot the duck, but the bullet was deflected by the feathers.
The pace of the battle came back to normal as the Time Bubble ended, but I used slow on the horse, the duck, and two chimeras that were fighting near me.
Another fireball came in my direction, and I had to use Accelerate again to dodge it.
The black horse decided that it was too annoying to keep doing this and charged toward me.
I didn't need to see his aura… His mane, tail, and hooves were on fire.
Fire came from his nostrils with each one of his breaths.
His red eyes were glued to me as if trying to frighten me.
It was the vivid image of the mythological horse… The Nightmare.
