Dr. Harting hasn't talked with Rose before, so he didn't know much about her. How accurate and trustworthy were her estimations? He was trying to size her up and understand a little the mind of this shy girl that Spencer chose as his girlfriend, probably the most mysterious person in Spencer's group, besides Spencer himself.
The first time he met this group, he could have an accurate read of the people, that was his ability, in some way it was similar to Spencer's Aura read, but instead of seeing something, he could feel and understand the nature of the people. With just one look he could know the personality and what someone is capable off, or at least it was like that until he met Spencer's group… he has no way to see through Spencer and Rose.
After looking at Rose without blinking for five seconds, Dr. Harting started to talk.
"Leon, how much time do we need to finish the wall?
"It's almost finished."
"Tell Giorgio to focus on reinforcing the east gate when he finishes, we will try to stop most of the wave before they arrive at the inner wall, see if you can build pits and traps there too. Milo, split our forces into three groups, spread two groups on the east, the other group has to rest, so they are in top condition the moment we need them to relieve one of the other groups. Also get ready to receive the scouts, they should have more information about what are we going against"
""Yes, sir.""
Leon and Milo, together with some team leaders left the room to prepare the defenses. Blake seemed deep in thought and asked.
"What are we doing about the west wall?"
Dr. Harting looked at Rose.
"Is the west going to be fine?"
Rose was surprised by the question. Dr. Harting knew that there was something else going on… at that moment if he asked about it in a different way it would have been impossible for Rose to hide anything from him, Dr. Harting knows that, but he respected Spencer's and his group's secrets.
"Yes… I think everything will work out."
Blake needed to know if it was necessary to prepare people there and what he was going to be against, an answer that involved a personal opinion wasn't good enough for him.
"You think? We need a direct answer here, we can't make plans based on just a hunch."
"Blake calm down. She can't give you a yes or no answer, she doesn't know."
Dr. Harting looked at Rose once again.
"If you have to assign a success chance of your plans, how high would you rate it, and why not higher?"
Rose started to think, consider variables and everything that could go well and wrong, it was painful for her to think of scenarios where Spencer might be in danger, but she had to do this to be ready when the moment comes.
"95% success, I don't think it would fail unless there is a second Alpha there or a beast with exceptional and particular abilities."
Dr. Harting nodded, those two where indeed situations that were unlikely to happen, so whatever plan they had it had a great chance of success. He turned his head to look at Blake, who was thinking something similar, he understood that it was not a definitive yes, but it was close enough for him to be calm. The only thing he regretted was that Dante wasn't there, but if they could handle half of the invasion by themselves in that way, the trade was worth it.
"95%... those are good numbers, I will go coordinate the defense then."
"Wait, there is one more thing that I want to report."
The people that were getting ready to leave stopped on their tracks. Rose's cheeks were burning at this point, she wasn't used to be the in the spotlight. She tried to think about all the people that were looking at her at this moment.
"Around noon, there was another attack aimed at us, the remaining goons from the NDR were marching towards Green Shelter. Luckily for us, Pinky's rats discovered them, informed us and dealt with the situation. Accordingly to what I saw in the NDR base last time this should be almost all of the people they had left."
"How is it that Pinky's rats discovered that and not us?"
"Dante wasn't near to detect them, and I have been focusing on the east and west situations, that is already a lot of space to cover. After what we did there last time we didn't consider an attack to come at this moment, after all, they could get affected by the invasion too. Pinky's rats stopped them, and none of the goons was severely hurt during the battle, so we might try to use them in the future… but what was odd about it is that none of the high ranked members from the NDR was with them."
"You are telling me that they send all their people to attack us, and no one was overseeing the operation?"
"Yes, I found it weird too, and we have no idea where they are. After a little follow up from Pinky, we know that their base is empty… I think that they left and couldn't bring their goons with them, so they tried to get revenge on us attacking at the same time as the invasion before leaving."
"That sound like a possibility, if we survive this we will need to send people to see what is going on in their base. We might find something that the rats missed, but that is something that we will have to look into later. Anything else you want to tell us?"
"No, that's all."
Blake and the other stood up again.
"I'm going then."
Everyone left this time leaving just Rose and Dr. Harting in the conference room.
"I'll go and keep scouting, I'll find you if there is any change."
"Okay, if anything happens, meet any of us at the east wall, I will be going too, and Rose… good job."
…
Rose left the place after that with a smile on her face, this time she didn't go back to the refuge. Instead, she moved to the roof and sit there, she couldn't have anyone around her for the next part of the plan.
She took a deep breath while looking at the sky, she closed her eyes focusing on something and a bunny together with a small black cat appeared in front of her.
She smiled and caressed Lucy and Paws as they kept rubbing themselves against her. This was the second time that Lucy was in the material world. Despite being in the material world, Lucy was still capable of float around as if she was still in the Astral Realm, probably because it was part of her nature.
The first time that Lucy came to the material world she was curious about everything around her, she was corporeal and wasn't used to interact with solid objects. Every time she wanted to go to a place she kept bumping into the walls, doors, and furniture, soon Lucy learned harshly that she couldn't go through objects in this new place.
"What do you think guys Dante's plan is going to work?"
Paws purred under her hand, and Lucy was floating around. Their carefree attitude helped her keep her calmness too. A childish voice appeared on her head.
'How is it going~?'
'I already told them about the beasts coming from the east and all the other things that happened. How is Spencer doing?'
Despite being outside the area to use telepathy, thanks to the connection between Rose and Spencer, she has some benefits when she interacted with Dante, she already experienced using Dante as Astral Anchor, and the range of their telepathy was also one of the benefits that they have discovered.
'He is in the forest~. I'm going to tell him about the invasion from the east soon~.'
'Ok… do you think is it going to work?'
'Until a couple of days ago I still have doubts and thought about not doing it, but now I think that our chances can't be better. You said 95% percent right~?'
'… But what about the other 5%.'
'I also hate it~, but we will never find a better chance ~. Everything is going to be ok.'
'I know, but I don't like it… Do you think he is going to be mad?'
'Maybe, but we knew that this was going to happen, we already talked about it, and right now the situation is even better than how it was when we first discussed this.'
'Okay, tell me when I need to act.'
Rose knew that Dante was right, but couldn't help it, she was going to be worried until she saw Spencer coming back safe and sound.
