I don't know what the conditions are to get the next level of anatomy. I could always cheat and use skill points to level it up, but I think that I should save them for the future. Getting another level on a weapon or dodge was harder to get than a knowledge.
The amount of stuff to read after understanding the basics was a lot, so I started with what interested me the most.
The brain…
Most of the different areas of the brain had multiple purposes. I started with the areas that were involved in Ines's injuries. The temporal lobe was in charge of the memories, that would explain why Dante had to be continually trying to keep her memories from losing themselves into the deepest part of her mind. The cerebellum was the one in charge of the motor control of the body since she was unconscious we have no way to see how much damage there was.
As I read about it, I started to wonder if my enhanced reflexes were the product of an evolved cerebellum. After thinking about it I continued my studies of the brain, I had a lot of ideas of how our Esper abilities were, in fact, the result of the evolution of a specific organ or functions. I already knew that, but linking a specific part with a particular ability would help me understand the power, and with the improvement of my eyes I might even be able to identify the powers without the need of having seen the aura before.
When I finished reading about the brain, I continued with the adrenal gland because of my power and moved then to the other glands. I didn't end it there, inner organs, muscles, bones. There were a lot of things that I already knew thanks to anatomy Lv.1, but all the information I knew was superficial, and when I started reading about the human body, I couldn't stop.
Only when Hope touched my shoulder, I stopped and noticed that it was about time to close the library. I ended spending all the day reading here. Also, there was a notification waiting for me.
[Anatomy Level Up Lv. 1->Lv. 2].
At some point, I received the level up for the skill, but I fell like it wasn't enough to help Ines. Using Dana and Dante together was out of the question, but when I studied the brain, I thought that in this case, my ability was much better for Ines.
The main difference between normal healing and time healing was that I returned it to a previous state where the injury hasn't appeared yet. I'm not sure about the method that normal healing uses but let's suppose that it accelerates the normal regeneration, in this case, there might be situations where there are scars left behind.
Both have their advantages, Time Healing would be better for Ines case if a scar was left behind in her brain it could affect various of her body functions. There will be cases where normal Healing would be better too. If the injury was the result of a previous condition Time Healing would only go back to a moment where the wound or condition haven't appeared but wasn't a real solution.
Ines recovery was only on me, but I don't have the ability or the time to do it right now, not with the other two missions limits so near.
As much as I wanted to keep reading and learning, I had to go. It was about the time of our daily training, and I wanted to see how much G changed after he got his new power.
…
Later I was on the rooftop fighting with G, the practice was the same as usual, on the other side Hope was fighting with Hayley. Since their fighting prowess was low and I wanted them to feel the pressure, I find that if I use slow on them by surprise, they focused more on the fight and made fewer mistakes. It was a little cruel but effective strategy. The only downside was that I didn't want them to get hurt badly, so I had to keep stopping my fight with G to heal them from time to time. It wasn't because there were severe wounds, but if I take care of them fast, I spend less time treating them.
After our knife practice Rose excused herself and left, I knew that she was entirely focused on learning Materialize, so there was no problem with that.
As for G and I, it all started as a simple fight. With aura view I could see his muscles brimming with energy, my thought about his ability proved to be true, the amount of solar energy and the output was enhanced by either his new perk or the synergy of his powers.
He still wasn't capable of hit me tho, but he was closer than before, each strike brought a tremendous amount of force with it. The wind alone would have been enough to push me away from the roof if I didn't get Enhanced Endurance.
Since he almost pushed me down before we banned the use of weapons from the spars, but with the amount of force he can put behind his fist now I think that I prefer the hammer again, at least he was slower when he used it.
I'm not going to lie I'm a little tempted to take a hit head-on to compare, but I have the feeling that with the energy and the strength enhancement his raw power is at the very least at the same level than my defense.
I avoided his punches time and time again, his speed was increased with his solar energy too, but when he does that he can't put the energy into the strength.
The speed increase wasn't enough for it to bypass Slow, but it was enough to go back to his normal speed when he was under the Time Bubble effect.
I couldn't keep someone under the effect of the same ability permanently, so I kept changing them as I used them. When I cancel a skill, I don't need to wait for the full "cooldown" to use it again so I can keep changing the speed to throw him off and make unexpected attacks. I even used accelerate from time to time to sneak attack him, if we analyze the pace of the fight, different movement speed ruined his rhythm, and he never knew what to expect.
I probably would have been able to win faster, but I was trying to get used to the change in the rhythm. I liked this chaotic style, but it was difficult to maintain it and even harder to know the best moment to change the pace.
Fighting without a real objective became meaningless for us, we already knew a little how to fight, so we focused on specific aspects to improve.
I was fully invested in improving the chaotic and rhythm changing style. For G it was his two powers. He needed to get used to his new strength and to control the solar energy.
Why the energy sometimes improves his speed or his strength? We have more or less figured out the pattern by now, so he was focused on controlling these patterns to know how to use the effect he wanted in each attack.
I jumped back after hearing a little thumb and made the signal to G to stop the fight.
"You know that I hate you right? can't you just stick to one speed and fight me like that?"
"Great idea, turn off the sunlight, and I might do that."
I laughed off G's comment and went to the girl's side to heal a bunch of bruises that were on Hope's arms.
I tried to use the focused effect to compare it with the normal healing. Despite the area, I focused on being smaller, the result was the same as when I tried it on, Ines. Probably this was the limit of my E-Rank Time Healing. The ability was already a cheat, so it was expected for it to have a limit.
"Thanks!"
Hope was sweating, this bruise was the result of a sudden slow that I threw on her in a bad moment. Hayley and Hope were using their powers so when I used slow, Hayley used that change to stack it with her slow and tackle her.
Hope, on the other hand, kept sliding around using her new shoes. In the beginning, we thought that it wasn't going to work, but apparently, there were enough metals on the building structure for her to be able to use them.
It wasn't like doing it on the street, but it helped her balance and made it even harsher for her but doing it in a problematic place helped her control and adapt her power faster. It was great to finally see her improving.
Since her part of the training was by far the most difficult I told her that they could stop to rest if she wanted, but she rejected it right away and started to move around once again. I gave her a smile and got on my foot to keep fighting with G.
The rest of the training went by without any mishaps, and we left the roof sometime later.
