(Rose's POV)
Lucy was keeping an eye on Pollard's house, and I had Paws looking at the gate, after quick surveying I noticed that there was a building near there that seemed to act as headquarters of the security and were Yaxley (that according to Dante's knowledge was the security chief) was.
I don't know why but Lucy suddenly showed me that one of the living Pollard's guards went into the house and discovered the corpses.
There should be a protocol, they must have to keep in contact from time to time, since we didn't have enough time to keep watching them for an extended period I couldn't have known that, the inner guards might have missed that timing, so they had to check.
There is only a matter of time for them to come here, I have to tell Spence that we are against time now.
'There are movements on the north, I think they found Pollard.'
The NDR might try to sound some kind of alarm to alert of the presence of intruders, I don't know if they have a particular protocol for these situations, but we have to act fast from now on. The other option was that to prevent us from knowing that we were discovered they had some kind of silent alarm that will alert them from us, but without us knowing, at least that's how it would have happened if I wasn't here.
In any case, they were most likely will come to get Chambers soon, he is the best they have to survey the surroundings to look for intruders.
They discovered Pollard's body and are going towards the gate to inform. Paws is too young I can't tell him to fight the messenger to delay him.
Right now Spencer's mind was focusing on the mission. He is worried about other powers that might be a threat.
After killing the first patrol Spence was calm, but after the jumper appeared, he was having some doubts.
There are too many powers out there that can be a problem for us. What just happened was a warning for him and the team… some abilities still might be a risk even if they are under the massive debuff that Spence and Hayley were capable of pull off.
If the jumper attacked Hayley instead of Mark, he might have managed to take her down before someone was able to help her, that was what happened to Ines after all, and Blink type abilities are not the only thing we have to be careful.
What if there is someone that can completely ignore the abilities?
Are there more time users capable of ignoring Spence ability? A heat control or pyromancer that can counter Hayley?
Or someone that can similarly debuff them leaving them at the same level… if there is another time user, he might not be able to affect Spencer, but probably he also can't prevent them from affecting the rest of the team
If I'm not wrong, there are more jumpers too they have appeared a couple of times so it should be one of the priorities when they gave powers to the goons. Spencer had to make some changes to the formation, they are already more alert than before, so it's unlikely that they will be taken by surprise again.
"Mark, stay near Hayley. I think I can identify jumpers, but there might be other abilities."
Mark was a little shaken after the unexpected attack, so he looked a lot more focused now than before. The last patrol already appeared at the corner of the house. This time Mark was near Hayley, but this group had normal abilities… well, what can be called normal in this place…
Since I needed as much info as I could Spencer shared his information all the time, I couldn't do the same because Spence wasn't capable of processing everything that fast. He already receives extra information from his senses and has to use his powers as he still focuses on every part of the fight, if there is something that I know he missed I shared it, but that was it. Anything extra might be an overload for his brain.
I didn't need Aura view to know the powers of most of this patrol. There was a guy covered in green scales, one with real snake eyes that I suppose has the snake senses from what Spencer can see in his aura and a short woman, with and a muscle augment, so that usually means strength or speed.
The first patrol was more normal, but as long as they don't see weird power and auras, Spencer and I agreed that they are not that weird anymore, also the presence of semi-humans on this group was an advantage for the fight.
Killing a beast was better for their mentality than killing a human. This also can help with more options during the fight as Mark and Hayley might have a good chance of going in the offensive too. As soon as Spencer knew the details of the next patrol, he started to think of this. He doesn't know how hard the scales are and even with the spear, there is a possibility that he can't penetrate them, with his overlapped strikes using delay he was most likely able to kill it but if there is a better way we should try it.
"Hayley, can you freeze the lizard?"
She thought for a second, to look at the lizard, most likely sizing it up.
"I can, but I might not be able to control the others if I do."
"That's fine take the lizard down, we can take the other two."
Hayley nodded accepting her next duty without problems. If I'm not wrong, Spencer will take the snake-eyed man, he did it like this just in case that there were other snake type abilities, if this happens, he had the best chances and the faster reaction to any changes. He must be careful because Dante mentioned a guy that could make a poison mist and had some snake characteristics, that leaves the woman to Milo.
The lizardman started to slow down, the others didn't notice anything weird until two people moving at fast speed charged at them. They were supposed to be protected by the lizardman but what they found in his place was a giant lizardman-shaped popsicle.
This moment of doubt was enough to cost the life to the woman. She didn't die in the first strike, but Milo knew where and how to strike, after piercing the abdomen he took back the knife as the woman fell. She was a speed type but as she was slowed down by Spencer's power she wasn't even able to move at average speed, the woman couldn't resist that type of wound and Milo didn't give her any chances as he strikes again to finish her.
Spencer, on the other hand, looked as he was already used to go for the throat, it was amazing what a snake senses and reactions can do, despite being slowed, the snake-eyed guy was able to dodge the first strike. His luck ended there and the second attack was with the tomahawk to his right side, the throat strike was the third.
With the end of that fight, Paws told me that the messenger arrived at the gates, it was also a speed type.
'Spence, the alarm is going to sound now we have to act fast.'
"We were discovered we need to end this fast."
As soon as he ended telling them the bad news a high-pitched sound came from the gates.
Multiple parties left that place in different directions if I'm not wrong the guy called Yaxley was moving towards the place we killed Pollard, I had a bad feeling about him, so it's good that we don't have to deal with him. The other parties were going towards the other NDR members houses, one of them is coming this way.
The alarm took the rest of the team by surprise. The NDR camp was in chaos, Spence went to the front door to kill the guards while they were going to join the ones inside the house. The guards on the back door did the same, but they were able to do it without problems, 8 people were inside the house to protect Chambers. This was going to be a fierce battle, but at least they don't need to be silent anymore.
According to Paws the sniper was on top of the tallest building and started looking in this direction, and Lucy, even if she was a little scared, was following Yaxley. We have time before the other members of the NDR appear here. Right now Chamber left his room in his pajama and reunited with his guards.
They could hear the sound of the front door opening, but probably Chamber saw the fight, so he knows that they are not his guards and moved to the back to escape.
