The meeting finally ended.
I left the room together with Blake, Milo, and Leon. We were going to discuss a couple more things regarding the situation with the beast and the NDR now. Dante also had to give the location of Pinky's trap, so we all went to the little place that acted as a base for the Hunting teams.
As we left the conference room with them, I noticed the bald man looking at Dante.
'Dante, you can do whatever you want with his mind if he tries something.'
He nodded to me, and I gave the man menacing look to warn him, I could notice him sweat and get goosebumps.
We started to go downstairs, I took the chance to explain that agreement was not just to be sure that none of my friends were going to be forced to do something that they didn't want to, but it was also mainly to protect Dante and Dana.
Since they started to understand a little more about Dante's power they saw the need to protect him. As I was going down Dr. Rehn appeared on a corner looking for me.
"Great I got to you before you left. I need to discuss a couple of things about the patients, Mikaela explained most of it, but I wanted to know more details about some of them."
I looked at Blake.
"Go on, I'll catch with you later, there are a lot of things that you have to do right now."
"Ok, we will start with talking to the team leaders first then. By the way are you willing to take a position for the moment? Is just as the leader of a specs ops group that I want to put together, at least until Frederick leaves the hospital."
"I don't have any problems but let's discuss it later, I have to think about it."
"Sure see you later."
Since Dante also had to tell them the place they had to go, he went with them.
I followed Dr. Rehn who told me a little how chaotic the last two days have been.
Frederick was going to recover just fine, it was going to take a while, but he should wake up soon. Ines was another case since there is still no way to see in her brain, they had to go by experience about a lot of things, which was the right call because they were able to relieve the pressure inside her head.
They didn't know if she was going to wake up, but at least she was stable for now.
After that he asked me about the situation of Conrad and Nadja, I explained that as far as I knew Conrad was a lost cause, but I promised to keep the vital support for some time to give him a chance. About Nadja, there was a problem with her soul, and we were going to look into it.
I kept thinking about Ines problem, maybe we don't have the technology anymore, but there are a lot of powers now… Dante knew that her mind hasn't been destroyed. I will have to ask Rose to see if her soul was damaged, but I remember that she didn't see anything wrong last time.
Maybe its something similar to what happens with Nadja, her soul, and her body connection was severed, perhaps in the case of Ines it's something like that too, mind and body are disconnected… but probably Dante would be able to handle something like that right?
We kept talking about the patients, and he also thanked me for noticing the guy with a heart problem. He even told me that if I got tired of hunting, I could help in the clinic. That would be great to level up my medicine skill, and I found that I like it a lot, but I had to focus on the threat that Green Shelter was facing right now.
Afterward, I went to hunting HQ, there were not many hunting groups active today because most people were resting from what happened yesterday.
When I arrived a hunting team was leaving the HQ, they were going to verify what happened in the area that Dante told the trap was done.
I got inside and the HQ and found Blake flanked by Leon and Milo talking with about 15 people in a table at the corner, there were more people around, and I was surprised to see Hayley there too, she was sit talking with Gabriel.
Since the meeting with the team leaders was ongoing, I went to them to ask what was happening.
Hayley smiled and waved her hand when she noticed me.
"Spence! how do you feel?"
"I'm fine, but bored as hell, this thing of going from one meeting to another is not for me. how are you?"
"I'm fine, the bump is gone already. The meeting couldn't be that bad when you were the president of the swimming club you had to go a lot of meeting too.
"Those were boring as hell too… this morning I got up late, had to go for a checkup, and then listen to a bunch of people talk for hours about expanding Green Shelter limits and the organization of the refugees…"
Gabriel looked at me with pity.
"Sounds tough…"
"Yeah, after that when I was coming here with them, Dr. Rehn intercepted me, and we were talking about the condition of the patients that I brought."
"Well, that doesn't sound as bad as the first part. I suppose that you are here for another meeting?"
Hayley smiled teasing me.
"Something like that, we have to plan a couple of things, and also they want me to be in charge of an elite team until Frederick get out of the hospital."
"Will you take it?"
"Probably, but just because I will take care of just a little elite team, if I have to coordinate all those guys I'm out of here."
I said pointing at the team leaders, they both laughed a little.
"Have you guys seen Dante?"
"He said he wanted to take a nap and went back home."
"I wish I could just do that…"
I sighed.
"So Hayley what brought you to this place?"
"I… want to officially join a hunting team to train, going to the warehouse once in the morning and in the evening it's enough, so there is no problem with me joining a hunting team."
That's… unexpected…I looked at her eyes for a second noticing resolve and desire to become stronger, among other things… I held her gaze and nodded.
"Ok, you are hired."
"Wait, what?"
"Well I'm going to be the leader of the elite squad, and you already proved yourself yesterday, so there are no problems with it. I was going to suggest this anyway."
She sweetly smiled and hugged me.
"Thank you."
"There is nothing to thank me for. With more combat experience you should be able to kick anyone's ass, and we need that."
At our backs the meeting was finishing, some people were confused, some were happy, and the others were worried.
"Let's go tell Blake, see you later Gabriel."
"Bye, guys."
I went to the place where their meeting was held and found the three of them discussing something on a map.
They were distributing the areas. Between them
"Sorry for the wait that took longer than we thought."
He said and raised a brow when noticed Hayley with me.
"Don't worry I arrived just now, Hayley wants to join a hunting team."
"Oh that great, with her ability the teams will fight over to get her."
"I know, tell them that she is officially a part of my team so if I have a mission or I will go out to hunt they could say goodbye to her."
Hayley seemed in high spirit in this place, and that was comforting. I noticed that unless she is with me, she is a little gloomier than how she used to be.
"Don't worry, even as a temporary member they will fight for her. That control ability is on another level. If I didn't plan to waste most of my time inside this place, I would have taken her for my group."
I could see her happily smiling. I could even see a little tear on her eyes refusing to fall.
"Let's start with this I want to rest a little more." I looked towards Hayley. "You can stay if you want but is going to be boring, you can go and see if there is a hunting team leaving and join them for now."
She denied with her head.
"Don't worry I came here to just talk about it today, yesterday was too intense, and I want to rest a little. I'll have to go back to the warehouse to tell the people there the situation too."
"Sure, see you later, we restart our training today."
"Ok, have fun."
She said smiling teasing me.
Hayley left the hunting HQ, and we started to talk first than anything about the next strike to the NDR.
