Before going to Cecily's room, we went to Dr. Harting's office to discuss Dr. Pierlot situation.
"Since he can't come with, I think that Robbert can be the third member of the commission."
Robbert seemed surprised my idea, after all, I didn't know him for that long. Dr. Harting locked his gaze on me waiting to explain, he also knew that it was for the best, but it was a little reluctance.
"Mikaela used to be a nurse, and I also have some medical knowledge. My enhanced senses can help me see or detect if someone has health issues before Dr. Pierlot has even touched the patient, so he is not necessary to the commission, so we already have the health situation covered. Also, Robbert can give another point of view, as a logistics manager he knew the difficulties of having more people, which will be likely to oppose Mikaela's kindhearted decisions…"
"What do you mean kind hearted decisions? We haven't even started!"
Mikaela jumped at the mention of her name, I might have gone a little overboard saying it like that, so I gave her a wry smile.
"Sorry, but since you run an orphanage, I think that you will have a soft spot for kids when we are there."
She was surprised because I probably said something that was entirely true and she knew it as well as me. I continued my explanations for having Robbert on the team.
"Also, as a telepath, he can see if someone is hiding something when we talk with them."
Dr. Harting central standpoint was about the medical situation, so once I told him that we got it covered between Mikaela and me, he had no reasons to not accept the change.
"Alright I have no problems, and you are the leader anyway, are you taking someone else from your group?"
"G is coming as a guard with the people that you encountered during the rescue mission. Also, I'll bring Rose with me too."
"Good Blake told me that they will leave in about half an hour. If the talk with Cecily goes well and you are ready at that time, you can leave with them or try to catch up with them."
"That would be great. We are going then."
After biding our farewell we moved to the north wing to Cecily's room, she was restrained to the bed and visibly scared. The redhead girl was sleeping on a stretcher, and the goons were on the floor resting as well, G was looking and the girl completely ignoring Cecily.
"When did she woke up?"
"She hasn't, I told her to sleep, after restraining the other girl to the bed, she has been awake all night running away from that place."
"I'm talking about Cecily moron…"
He turned and just now noticed that Cecily has awakened and that we all were there looking at him. It's been awhile since I saw him so embarrassed.
"Don't let us interrupt you, we want to talk to Cecily you can keep looking at the cute redhead for a few minutes."
"…Emma"
"What?"
"Her name is Emma."
…
Wow, he fell for this girl?
"Ok… you can keep looking at Emma while she sleeps… you will have to wake her up soon though, we are going to leave for another mission."
G also noticed that his reaction was odd, so he didn't respond to my comment this time, feared of doing something weird again.
I got near Cecily, she had short black hair and big brown eyes, she was visibly scared. I got near with the friendliest smile I was capable of.
"I'm glad that we were able to take you out of there. I'm going to free you ok?"
Her frightened eyes started to mix with confusion, I got near her and took out a dagger, and she tensed up again.
"Don't worry I'm just going to cut the restrains."
She was focused entirely on the dagger and nodded slowly, I cut the restrains and massaged her wrist a little.
"How are you feeling Cecily?"
She already noticed that we knew her name.
"Confused… how do you know my name and where I am?"
"You are at Green Shelter, we have our eyes on the NDR for a while, we have been planning to rescue you from them for a while."
"Rescue me? b-b-but I'm part of the NDR!"
"No, you are not, you were just like Emma, but they needed your power so they couldn't harm you as they did with the others."
"You were another hostage there Cecily."
Ian reacted in the right time to enhance my words implanting ideas on her mind.
It worked, Cecily seemed to realize that what I was talking was right. The trick to do this right is that all that I'm telling her is the truth, she might have seen herself as an NDR member, and even other members might think so. The reality now is that Cecily was a hostage, she was a member… but it was because she didn't have a choice.
"But they are so strong… if I stay here, they will…"
"They can't do anything to you if they are as strong as you think we wouldn't have been able to reduce them to their current state, Right? We took you and a lot of other hostages from them in just one strike, why do you think Emma is there sleeping peacefully?"
"You are safe here Cecily, you can trust us."
Cecily reluctance was slowly fading, G was confused by the play me and Ian were doing.
…
"… Can I really trust you…?"
She was looking at Ian and me.
"Of course."
She smiled and seemed relieved.
"Of course, we all make our part when we stay here, so you will have to work together with us, here we don't hide on other people backs, we help each other."
She pondered for a second and nodded.
"I would love to tell you to rest a little more, but we need your help with a situation right now."
She looked at me with a little distrust. It was understandable, so I took my time to explain her the situation.
"A beasts wave attacked the Aurora Clinic, they are swarmed and asked for our help to be taken here as refugees."
She locked her Gaze onto me while I explained.
"Unfortunately we can't take them all, taking someone that is in a coma forever here would be meaningless right?"
She nodded.
"But there have been cases when they wake up too…"
She nodded again this time slower than before, knowing to where this was going.
"A group was created to go and see the situation of the people on the clinic and decide if they have chances of recovery on a short term. I'm leading this group, and we are going to make those decisions, but I need you to come with us to confirm that we are making the right choices in the most complex cases when there are lives at stake we have to be sure that we are making the right decision. We need you for this Cecily."
I could see in her eyes that she didn't like it, it was too similar to the job she did for the NDR.
"You are not deciding who dies like before Cecily. Also, the options are not a broken mind or dead, you are there to give real life to people that we think that is already dead."
Ian talked one more time to convince her.
"This is not the same as before, if you don't want to do it you can say no, you are one of us now and we will not leave you, but we would like to be sure that the people we are leaving behind really had no chances…"
Before we planted three simple ideas for her to agree to join Green Shelter.
You were a hostage of the NDR.
You are safe here.
You can trust us.
This was the easy part, but asking her right away to do a job that at first glance looked so similar to what she had to do before. That was the tricky part.
The last idea that Ian implanted on her was about that.
This is not the same.
She finally nodded and accepted her new role as a member of Green Shelter. It felt terrible to manipulate a woman like this, and I finally understood why everyone thought that Ian was the strongest telepath on Green Shelter this ability was scary. Dante might be able to do something like this too, but I'm not sure if he can do it this fast.
"We took you here with nothing, so if you need something just name it, we have to leave as soon as possible."
"Is possible to get more comfortable clothes?"
She was wearing a tight one-piece dress.
"Of course, anything else? Do you use any weapon?"
"No, only clothes, for now, I think that we can talk about a place to live and my future job later, right?"
"Yeah, we are a little short on time if we want to leave with the reinforcements. G! get ready and wake up your girlfriend and her bodyguards. We are leaving."
He ignored me again but went to wake up Emma and the other two guys. None of them said anything.
Emma's eyes had a little light when she woke up and looked around, that light faded away soon. From what I know she was supposed to be able to retain a part of her personality, was she the cold type before? Maybe she was shy. I wonder what she thinks about G… or if she can think about anyone that way.
"Let's go I want to stop in the armory before leaving."
