Chapter 87 - Library

I received the letters. I looked at the letters and noticed that there were two extra, one for the armory and one for the library. The one for the armory was to get equipment, this should be to get bullets, and some extra weapons, the extra one for the library was for me to freely take 4 books from there.

"I think that covers everything we talked about, 4 books is the limit of what I can offer to your group since we need the information too, there are some advanced books that I would like for you to leave with us, of course, any of you is welcome to go to the library to read if you need it. Also, I noticed that you only have a knife, but since you are going to be a hunter, we usually gave more equipment to them to boost the survival rates so you can choose a couple of extra things when you go there."

It surprised me that he gave me the books and the equipment right away before we even started working with them. It was probably a goodwill act.

"Thank you, professor."

"It was the deal, so don't worry about it, I still have things to finish. Since I wasn't here yesterday, I have a lot of work left to do."

"I don't take more of your time then, Have a nice day."

"You too Spencer."

The library was in the same school, so I have no problems to find it right away.

A guy was reading a book, and there were some tables for anyone to come and read the books here. He looked at me when I got inside.

"Hi, are you looking for something?"

"Yeah, I came here to get a couple of books."

The guy tilted his head, and I handed him the letter from Dr. Harting.

"Whoa, I never see someone who could take books from here. There are some restrictions about the books you can take, do you have ideas about what books you want?"

"Yeah have a couple of ideas, I want to see the biology area first. There are some things I'm interested from there in getting from there."

"Sure, come here."

He guided me to an area of the library, I started to look around. I wanted to get a zoology book and something that talk about evolution and genetics. I think that if I get them, I would be able to see weak points on beasts, and it will also help me understand the evolution path that some of the beasts took and why they got certain powers. Of course, I can also study the evolution and genetic by coming here, so that wasn't on high priority.

It was just a theory but at least the zoology part I was pretty sure that It was going to work For the second book I wanted an anatomy book and hope to get closer to level up my medicine skill, which could save one of my friends live someday.

I browsed the different books, and they all triggered different

In this point I had to be smart, there were too many things to learn, and I have other plans for the other two books, and also I can come here to read and study hoping to get the skills later, so it's not necessary to get all of them now.

I was really tempted to get genetics, since it was the one with the higher requirements it was also probably the most complex of the lot, but right now, I felt that zoology and anatomy are the ones that have the to be the priority and the forced evolution study could be a side project for the moment. Also, the genetics book was the only one left so probably I can't take it with me anyway.

I took both books and put them on my backpack. I couldn't absorb them now in front of the clerk, and I want Hope to memorize them before I absorb them too.

"You don't want to take those too?"

"No, I will come to read those here, I want the other two book in a different topic, what do you have about survival abilities?"

"Mmm there is a couple of things about it, but they are pretty basic stuff."

"it's no problem."

He took me and showed me a couple of survival handbooks, there were a lot smaller than the books I have seen in the biology section.

There was one guide that was bigger than the others, and it included hunting tips, how to make traps and a bunch of other random information that the others didn't include.

[Requirements fulfilled. Does the user want to absorb "What to do when you don't want to die" book? (Y/N)]

The number of requirements surprised me, and that made me think that there was something else about this books, so I took it without thinking about it twice.

The last book I wanted to get was to get information about weapons.

I have been using my knife for a while, and I still don't get the skill related to it, that reminds me that I got the firearms skill when I learned about the weapon, so I suppose that to get the skill I should learn more about knives. Since I have to learn more about it, I should take the chance to learn about other weapons too, having a knife as a primary weapon wasn't right for hunting most of the beasts.

We arrive at another part of the library, this wasn't as big as the biology sections, but it had more books, some of the manufacturing and blacksmithing methods were here. But I wasn't interested in that part, but it could be an option for the future.

I found a giant book about the whole history of the weapons. It had the history, and it described almost every weapon I could think of going from the simplest prehistoric spears from the past to the most recent railguns. It had details about how some of the weapons evolved, and even if it never went into deep details, about the manufacturing process, it was enough to understand how everything worked and was made.

[Requirements Int > 15 Wis > 15, Checking requirements…]

[Requirements fulfilled. Does the user want to absorb "Weapons through the ages" book? (Y/N)].

I started to recheck the contents of the books, I was interested in it, but after seeing the requirements I had doubts they were too low, will this help me get damage or proficiency related skills? Maybe they don't even exist. It was a tough call, but in the end, I decided to take it with me anyway, even if I don't get what I want I think this will be helpful in any way.

Since I already got the 4 books I was allowed to take I said my farewell to the clerk and left.

I went back to the apartment. Initially, I thought about going to the armory straight away, but I want to absorb the weapons book so I can try to get a fitting weapon from there.

I went back to the apartment, Dante has come with me, but his mission was to look around for spies since there were too many people he said that it was easier for him to check them if he got closer to everyone. The truth was that he wanted to sightsee.

He didn't find anyone suspicious, but there was still a lot of people left to check. Also, he told me that those guys were still waiting to ambush us. I was planning on going tomorrow if they didn't move soon.

After talking a little with Dante I went to look for Hope and found her on the roof shooting the crossbows, it was different than the rifle, but at least she can get used to aim and the recoil.

"Where is everyone else?"

"Hayley went to see her father, Gerhard and Rose went with her cause they were going to try to see the workshop…"

Crap stan will see Rose… she should be ok if she is with G.

"And you find it boring so preferred to stay here?"

"Yep, but I got bored here too, so I decided to shoot some bolts."

"Don't worry I bring something fun for you to do."

… She looked for a second and sighed.

"You are going to make me read, right?…"
