Chapter 18 - New clothes and gossip

The couple continued walking. Passed a tailor shop, and Eastar remembered something.

— Sindar, can I ask one of these men to do something for me?

— What men?

— These clothesmakers, the ones you offered me are cool, I like them, but I miss my overalls.

She laughed at the stellar's simplicity.

— It's all right. Come with me, I'll take you to Guino.

The princess dragged her mate for two more blocks and turned right. There was a two-storey shop, built of white stones, with a large, brown sign at the entrance, which read in gold "Guino's Tailoring".

They went through the door, and the doorbell rang at the top of it, which made Eastar jump forward and look around.

Sindar started to laugh and touched his shoulder.

— Calm down, big boy. This is only p a ra notify the Guino arriving customers. She pointed the bell.

The star sighed and relaxed as a thin, small man, with licked split hair, ran down the stairs. He had a mustache that looked like the man in the band before, though it was brown like his hair.

Seeing the princess, the tailor jumped the last steps of the stairs and clapped his hands until he was close to them.

— Your Highness! It's always wonderful to have you here. That dress looks great in you, but this is obvious, since it is my doing. — He rolled his eyes at the stellar and looked him up and down, which seemed to take considerable time, considering that the star was two heads taller than him. — Then this must be the young star hero. Is he my challenge today?

Sindar waved at the withered little man.

— Yes, Guino. Eastar wanted to order something.

— Mr. Guino, I would like a overall. Something simple. No sleeves and ....

— Psst. — Guino put a finger to the young stellar's mouth and smiled. — Overall? No! You are my challenge, so I'll do something splendid! — He began to surround the client and talk to himself. — Maybe a nice hooded hood, yes, hoods are good, mysterious and charming. Pants... yes, yes, I know what type. Okay, to work!

— Mr. Guino, you don't have to. Seriously, just a overall.

— Okay, okay! I'll make your overalls. But only after my main work. Okay, your highness?

He winked at Sindar, who put the hand in front of her mouth to hold back a laughter at his mate's discomfort.

— It's perfect for me!

The young stellar snorted and relented, making clothes on Earth should be easy. A dust suit took a long time to make in space, but it lasted for millennium, depending on the quality of who made it, however, on the planet the earthlings had plenty of equipment and the material they used should be much more practical, though fragile.

The young sirion sat on a bench and watched Guino's work, which went to a workbench, leaned over it and came back with a notebook, a pencil and a measuring tape.

— Please, my boy, can you take off your clothes?

— Oh well...

— Don't worry, I won't attack you, I recognize a man with an owner.

He winked again at the sitting girl, who this time raised an eyebrow, then motioned to silence with a finger to her mouth.

— Oh! I understand. — Guino laughed.

He turned to Eastar and was startled when realized he was taking off his underwear.

— No! By Ulmo, Eastar, you can keep your underwear, boy!

— It's just that you said ...

— Yes, to take the clothes, but it was just necessary to take your measurements. I don't need to take measurements in that region. — Guino pointed at Eastar's groin and then shook his face with one hand.

Sindar started laughing at the situation although she couldn't deny a little of his disappointment that Guino had stopped the show in the better part.

— Phew... — The tailor was still recovering from his fright.

He began to roll the star with the tape, taking measurements and notes. Sometimes he run upstairs to pick up scraps of fabric and put them in strange ways, shake his head and throw them back.

— Your Highness, I have things to tell you. This beautiful town has been buzzing these days.

— Guino — Sindar started —, you know I don't like gossip.

— Me neither, your highness! Away from me! I'll just do my personal informant job for my favorite client.

She shook her head and leaned back against the small bench, resigned to having to hear Guino's stories of housewives fighting with husbands and clients trying to outwit him.

After nearly an hour of standing and standing, Eastar was already anxious to leave. The tailor's conversation was strange and did not seem to be relevant at all. He was about to sleep on his feet when a subject caught his attention.

— I hear the amount of merchants coming from the north to sell here is falling, Your Highness. Is it because of the forest?

— Can't hide anything from you, Guino? Yes, something strange is walking through the Dark Forest. My father is considering sending men over to check on the situation. — She crossed her arms and legs and frowned. — The reports we've heard tell about shadows that come out of nowhere, kill and go away. My father thinks it's an exaggeration of frightened men. He think they must be thieves. The passage through the dark forest became too famous.

— But is there no other way? — Eastar intruded.

— There is. It goes west for a long time, coming close to the sea. After following near the coast there are still the mountains, where some wild tribes live. Nobody walks around with anything of value, unless you're very well protected. What's more, the trip would increase by more than a month. — She sighed. — You can also go by sea, but the travel cost is higher. With this the small merchants always end up in the forest route.

— Shit, why are you so isolated?

— The Sirion Kingdom didn't go beyond the Dark Forest. And since we had no connection with humans, the isolation was good. But at the time of my grandfather things started to change a little, Port City was created and much of the trade that comes here is from there, but as I said, the cost of transactions there is high. The Dark Forest Road is wide and well-made , never a dangerous place.

— Well, the name is not very flashy.

— The truth is, the name suits her. The trees don't let the light through, so it's always like night inside.

— Anyway, I could check with my dad. We'd do it for sure.

— My father would never ask that of you. He has been talking about it with your father. In fact, it was Aros who asked to keep you off the subject, he knew you would say that.

— I'm impressed that he didn't say it himself.

— He said. My father only managed to change his mind when he stressed that it was his and the Sirion Guard's obligation, and that he would let Aros act if it was really necessary.

— I still think we would solve the problem pretty quickly.

— Eastar, please let them work it out. All right?

— Okay, okay.

— If the king sends Edwin, I doubt about any fun for you, boy. — Guino returned to the conversation after having thrown another cloth up. — By the way, he was patrolling the stalls yesterday, he seemed to be talking to some outside merchants. I think he must be interested in these so-called bandits.

— First, stop calling me a boy. Second, who is this Edwin? Captain Jorg said I'll train with him.

— Oh! Will Edwin train you? You must be really good, Eastar. — The tailor laughed.

— I beat the captain... — He ignored the mockery. — Once… but even so, I think I realize a lieutenant.

The tailor began to laugh along with the princess, and the young star wondered or what was wrong.

— Eastar. — Sindar smiled at him. — Jorg is not captain for being the strongest, but for being the most responsible. After my grandfather and older brother were gone, Edwin became the most powerful man in the kingdom.

— And the most beautiful, Your Highness. Don't forget, the most beautiful.

— All right, Guino. Although I have changed preferably these days.

— Oooh.... I see your point, dear. And I don't judge you.

Guino winked at Eastar, who opened his mouth, looked at both of them and, unsure of what to say, simply closed it and shook his head.

The other two laugh and turned their conversation to the branch of banality. Eastar realized that he might end up sleeping for real.
