Chereads / Kael Cor: A Vampire's Awakening / Chapter 142 - Mission Completed, Changing

Chapter 142 - Mission Completed, Changing

When we got back to the tower, it was with a larger crowd than before. 800 vampires from the Warren coven, not including their children, and the other vampires belonging to it's subsidiary Covens. And then two thousand vampires from the Ausolon coven, it was the entirety of that bloodline, and Malek brought them all along.

I think this was a gesture of good faith on his own part, but right now, it was way too much work for me to handle. However I will not be shirking away from my duties. This was a responsibility that I've chosen to take upon myself, I'm definitely going to see it to the end.

In most stories you would hear about how the locals are always dissatisfied with the ruling class. They will tell you of how much they hated the nobles and their sense of superiority.

It was different for vampires, all they ever wanted or aimed for, was a chance to be a part of the bloodline covens, they looked up to the elders on the council, and believed in their leadership in an almost fanatical and blind manner.

The moment it was discovered that the bloodline Covens were going to be a part of the growing vampire community in this part of the pit, the vampires hanging around my tower went crazy.

Especially when they also realized that the Warren and Ausolon bloodline coven, would now be serving me for the foreseeable future. I won their hearts over, because their leaders now trusted and believed in me. Now I just had to make arrangements about where they would stay.

I understand that the bloodline Covens are the elite, and usually never mingled with common vampires, so I was afraid that there would be problems arising amongst themselves.

But Asha told me not to worry, vampires responded to power, they believed your strength and status is the only thing that can afford you a better treatment. So it motivated them, and while there's always the group of people who would feel entitled and think it's unfair, they fall under the minority.

I was all about equality and satisfaction amongst the common vampires, but Asha insisted that segregation was the answer. The vampires were a race that loved power, give them too much freedom, and things will fall apart.

Which was why I gave the Ausolon coven two floors of the newly constructed five floors on the tower and gave them one of the basements as a lab and meeting place, they were scientists after all.

The Warrens were diplomats, spies, and information brokers. When you think about it, both the Ausolon and Warren bloodlines Covens, can not survive on their own, they needed the support of someone with power to truly show their capabilities.

Thinking about it made me understand that they chose to follow not based on emotions or feelings, but rather by a sound logic that I would be able to provide for them what they can't provide for themselves. I didn't know what to feel about that, but the fact that I had their oaths was good enough for me.

The Warrens probed to be a big help, especially Farina, as she got straight to work the moment she arrived at the tower. With the help of Asare and a few other vampires from her Coven, they were able to properly take care of the people and their needs.

The storage basement was already completed, and for the last three hours Teluna and Magellan has been traveling through the shadow realm, transporting huge tanks of blood.

The blood was stored in the storage room, which was divided into four areas, one area had massive metal canisters made that were freezing, the blood was kept there to preserve it and keep it from coagulating. One of the areas had rows and rows of metal shelves, the third was an empty but dry lot, while the final one seemed to be some sort of work area.

Nefisat worked well and thought ahead, so everything was in order. After two hours of tirelessly working, Magellan and Teluna had brought quite a significant amount of blood, which made it possible to feed a significant amount of he vampires, especially the children.

The Warrens were good with management, and somehow they made sure the blood was enough for everyone. I also gave them two floors, but they declined having a basement stating that for now, everything was just fine and it would better served to put the children there.

They were playing politics, but as long as it kept the vampires satisfied that was good enough for me. Now everything else was all left to me, I had to begin unsealing the vampires, it would take me forever, but I had no choice. But before that, I needed to check a message I received from my system.

[CONGRATULATIONS ON COMPLETING YOUR MISSION:MISSION: In three days attend the vampire elder banquet, and convince one of the elders to swear servitude, you get bonus rewards if you convince more than one elder to serve you./ REWARDS: New Soul Rune, 3000 essence points, New Soul Skill/ YOU HAVE BEEN AWARDED 4000 ESSENCE POINTS, THE SOUL RUNE [HEAL], AND THE SOUL SKILL SOUL CLONE.]

[SOUL CLONE: LEVEL 1 BASIC: use soul energy to create a body double with 30% of all your skills and capabilities. Lasts for 15 minutes, can only be used three times a day.]

I was shocked by what I was seeing. I was not so worried about the soul rune, or the colossal amount of essence points, the real reward came from the soul skill. I was worried about not being able to unseal all this people in my own, but even with 30% of my abilities, and only fifteen minutes, my clone would be able to unseal at least ten to fifteen people since time in a seal runs way faster than the real world.

It's to be used three times a day, but there's a chance for it's duration to be longer at the advanced level since it was only basic. The workload was still insane, but at least this would make it easier.

After my strength, agility and physique got to tier 10, it now takes 200 essence points to raise it by a tier, so I started by allocating 1500 essence points equally to all three of my physical attributes, at least with that, my strength would be a little bit closer to the level required for a Nosferatu.

There wouldn't be anything much to do in regards to taking care of the tower or the dungeon, for the next few weeks, I would be very busy unsealing vampires, so the best I could do now was improve my physical attributes, it should give me enough stamina to carry on for quite a while.

I like to believe I was a whole lot stronger than I was previously. New skills aside, I've grown up. I also realized that life was all about learning, and not just about yourself or the people around you, but about the world itself.

There were a lot of people who would say I'm a good person, and would live like that, doing things the right and moral way. For a while I was that kind of person, in fact I like to believe I'm still that kind of person, but I can't deny the ultimate fact that I've changed.

To truly get the peace that not just the vampires, but the whole of Shearath needs, I have to dip my toes into darker waters, I have to stain my hands with blood, and I know it won't just be the blood of the guilty, but also the blood of the innocent.

By the time this is over I won't be able to recognize myself, but that was why Earth chose me after all, because without a doubt no matter how nasty an option is placed in front of me, I'm the only one capable of making those decisions.

I understand now why I was chosen, it was not because I was special or had a heart of gold, I was chosen because I'm the only one capable of making the tough choices. And I know a lot of people are going to hate me for it.
