Chapter 138 - Council Banquet (VIII): Going Commando

Everything became a blur of fists, kicks, shield bashes and sword slices as I tore my way through the crowd of Pabs. Every subsequent kill made me stronger, to the point that it was impossible for me to take any sort of physical damage from them. But their cannons still packed a punch, a very painful one too.

There were three Pabs left, firing their cannons at me with reckless abandon, cutting of my movement. Every hit on my shield pushed me back, and left my arm aching from the impact and vibration, but this was a world where my will could become reality.

I raised my shield up and brought my body lower, giving them less of a target as I sheath my sword. Then I waved my right hand, and a hand gun appeared in it. It was rather normal looking, and was something you would find on earth rather than Shearath with it's advanced technology and magic.

But a handgun in my hand, could be just as powerful as their cannons, if not more. I covered my shield with a layer of soul energy, letting it hang over the surface like a thin film.

When the next blast hit it's surface, the film rippled, and expanded outwards, creating a shockwave that threw all of the other incoming blast aside, and pushed the remaining Pabs backwards.

That was the opening I needed, as I dropped my shield and pulled the trigger as many times as possible, alternating my aim between all three of them.

All I could hear were a loud bangs, and a flash of blue soul energy as the soul bullets from my gun, tore through their armor like a hot knife through butter.

They were completely defenseless against the onslaught, as they were poked full of holes. The gun had quite a kick as it shook in my hand, throwing my aim off most of the time, but I got them four times out of ten, and that was enough to take them out.

Their bodies evaporated into brown soul energy that rushed into my body in a wave, making me stronger, and faster. I turned to look at the broken two way window to see Malek looking at me with a frown on his face.

"What?" I asked him

"if you can create guns then why are you running around swinging a sword and shield like a barbarian. An even most barbarians no longer swing cold weapons like that, and are more predisposed to be heavy gunners. You could take care of a lot of problems from a distance rather than taking the risk of getting injured." Malek complained.

"To be honest I've never really thought about it. Swords and Shields just agree with me. I'm more comfortable with them, and prefer to be up close and personal when I kill my enemies. It's a matter of preference, especially when I know I'm strong enough to withstand whatever it is my opponent can throw at me at a close range."

"Great! I just swore an oath to a suicidal battle maniac. I'm regretting it already."

I didn't know what to say to that, or it was more like I was too angry to say anything. What was it with this guy, I've been trying to save his life, and all the idiot has done was judge me and my actions.

But I didn't have time for this, we had to get out of here and figure out a way to bring this building crumbling down. It was the only way we could get out of this seal.

I turned and made my way for the entrance of the now dilapidated conference room with Malek right behind me. I preferred using my sword and shield, but Malek was right, though I would not admit it to him.

My enemies this time can fight at a distance, causing harm to me before I could even get close enough to them. I had to change my tactics, which meant I had no choice but to use the gun.

The door opened up into a hallway, it was bare of any other entrances, apart from the simple wooden door to the conference room. I suspected that the missing entrances were like the one used by Pabs 1 when he entered the interrogation room to tell us we're both going to die with a hologram from his helmet.

I made my way down the hallway with Malek hobbling right behind me, I wanted to go faster, but with the injured Malek behind, I had to match his pace so that he wouldn't be left behind.

There was an elevator at the end of the hallway, and as I was about to press the button that will lead us down, Malek grabbed my hand.

"The elevator is bound to be monitored, and the fact that this place is not swarming with those soul beasts after the ruckus you caused is proof that we're being watched. Take the stairs, and head for the basement."

Malek was really observant and intuitive, of course if it was just me I would have charged through none the less.

I knew I could make a plan and analyze every important factor necessary for my escape, however being stronger than everything in this world afforded me the leeway to charge through everything without any lasting consequences. But still I had to ask him.

"Why the basement?"

Malek pointed at a holographic displays on the wall beside the elevator door, and right beside the door to the stairwell.

It was a blue print of the building, it was a tower and currently we were on the 45th floor. The basement it turns out, is actually the hangar of the building. It had all of the vehicles needed for escape, and it's the prime place to try and bring the building down.

After all, the entire support of the building is planted right from the basement, destroy that, and we would bring the entire building down. I turned to Malek and said to him.

"You should be thankful you're so smart, it offsets your bitchy attitude."

I didn't give him a time to answer as I opened the door to the stairwell, and had to duck back as a hail of gun and cannon fire came flying at me. The door was blown off it's hinges, and the pounding feet of the Pabs coming up the stairwell became audible enough to shake me.

It was like a heart beat, lot's of them, if only it didn't mean certain death, at least for Malek anyway. I got up from the ground, pushing debris of me, as I dragged the disoriented Malek up from the ground.

I don't think there was any other option short of jumping out a window, and I didn't really relish the idea of jumping off the 45th floor of a God knows how tall building. I had to fight through them, and I was having a boat load of ideas.

I dissipated the gun I was using, and brought my palm together, cupping them together as I began gathering and condensing soul energy. Putting layer upon layer of the energy as I gave it a volatile property. Then I gave it a shell, and when I was done I was holding onto a grenade with a rather nasty grin on my face.

I tipped an imaginary hat at Malek, then I threw the grenade out the door and into the stairwell. Five seconds later there was a loud explosion that picked me and Malek off our feet, and threw us ten meters away from the stairwell, leaving us both bruised and battered.

My only thought at the moment was that I should have thought it through, but I wasn't done with crazy ideas.

I picked myself up and dragged Malek with me back to the stairwell as a thick wave of soul energy came rushing into my body.

For a moment I couldn't breath as I felt drunk and suffocated under the feeling. There was so much soul energy, and it was pure, vibrant and resilient.

Whoever placed the seal on Malek must have been a really powerful weaver during his time, though he would be dead now, on account of being human and short lived, but his torturous work still lived on.

I went through the door, and took a deep breath at the sight of the carnage in front of me, much of the stairwell had been blasted into rubble, cutting off our path downwards for about 8 floors.

The entire area was also filled with dust, and a bevy of injured soul beasts, and those already dead and were currently dissipating.

But down below there were still quite a lot of them waiting and coming up with, wait! Are those jetpacks? Is it just me or does this keep getting more and more insane.

I had no time to think as the Pabs with the jetpacks were already shooting at me. Well if they wanted to shoot at me, I'm going to shoot back! I brought both hands in front of me, as soul energy gathered and rapidly condensed into a machine gun. It was heavy, bulky, but I knew it would spit out hundreds of hot soul energy in seconds.

But I was a little confused, this big ass gun in my hand, was it called a machine gun or a sub machine gun. I'm sure I knew what type it is, but I was not sure. But either way, let's poke this flies full of holes. I pulled the trigger.

RATA TATA TATA TATA TATA!

The sound bounced of the walls of the stairwell, and so too did the soul bullets. I could hardly keep the big gun under control as my hand shook erratically, even my vampire strength was not enough to keep it in place.

Malek was right behind me with his jaw hanging halfway down his face, completely shocked about the turn of events. The Pabs that were close by, most of them injured from the earlier explosion were the first to succumb to my barrage of unending soul bullets.

At this point even the stairwell was so damage that we had to hump down for more than 12 floors before we could come across a set of stairs that's not riddled with bullets and almost completely falling apart.

I kept up with the barrage, and as the bullets fell, soul energy ascended into my body, making me stronger, to be honest I don't think I felt this strong in any of the seals I've been in before.

Ten minutes, that was how long I kept firing that gun. All that was left of the aftermath was a thick burning smell, the dust and particles of destroyed concrete, and a continuous stream of soul energy.

I took really deep breaths, such that I felt as if my heart was beating once more, but that was only an illusion. There was an eerie silence as Malek took a few steps forward to stand on a ledge that used to be part of the stairwell. Then he looked at me with widened eyes and said to me.

"You're insane. Totally crazy....I like it!"

Seriously whatever the hell was wrong with his dude. He was eccentric in a way that gave me the creeps. His attitude changed depending on a situation, making him seem very bipolar.

He could be insulting you one second and giving you praise the next. But I think there was name for his kind of people, they were called "Mad Geniuses". But either way I think we were done here, no it was time for a bit of payback.

I dropped the bulky gun, and grabbed Malek by the waist, swinging him around until he was hanging from my back with his arms wrapped around my neck.

Then I jumped, running across the wall in a spiral downwards. Malek was screaming his head off, completely unaccustomed to the intense speed I was using to move, but I didn't stop or slow down.

About thirty floors down, I saw another group of Pabs, this time there were gold armored soul beast men among them, Gabs I decided to name them. They were all that stood between me and the basement floor. I smirked, as I materialized my sword and shield. This was going to be a massacre.

"Arggggghhhhhhhhhh!"
