As Kaal and Khajoor made their way towards the village, both of them thought about mentioning this issue to the village head. He would definitely be able to think of a solution about the Spirit Beast issue. They looked at one another and nodded their head.
Slowly, yet vigilantly they walked towards the village. Both of them had different thoughts swirling inside their head. Suddenly Kaal thought of something. He said, "Hey, do you think that Little Chooha had gone to Old man Hawas and asked about that? I think we are ruining that lad's innocence."
Khajoor thought for a moment and then said, "Hmm. You are right. If he had already gone to that Old geezer, then that'd it for him. NO one would be able to save him. But if Little Chooha had not asked anything from him, then we would stop him from doing so."
Kaal nodded. Both went silent once again. Soon, Kaal once again broke the silence and said, "Hey Khajoor, I am a little curious about this old geezer. Although, it has been a long time since I have lost my memories, but I still haven't met him. From your description, he seems like a very wretched, old geezer. Now, I also have an urge to go and see him. How about going to meet him after we finish our work?"
"Yup, ok. Let's meet him then." Khajoor nodded.
Then, the silence once again prevailed between them until they reached the village's outer ring.
"Where does the Village head lives? I forgot the path." Kaal asked.
"He lives not far away from Josh's house." Khajoor said.
Soon, they reached outside the door of the village head. The village head lived in a house which was made up of bricks and mud. But it was still miles above the broken down thatched hut they lived in. The house had a proper gate which properly did its job. They had a proper roof without any holes, and let's not talk about the space inside. Both of them knew that comparing the two houses will make them even more depressed, so they silently knocked on the door.
No one opened the door. They waited for a while but still no one came. They once again knocked on the door, but still, the door remained closed. This time when they were about to knock on the door once again, the door abruptly opened. A middle-aged woman came out. She contemptuously looked at Kaal and Khajoor with a scorn in her eyes.
"Namaste, Madam." Kaal and Khajoor joined their hands in front of their chest and bowed a little.*
"What do you want? I don't have any money to give you. Leave, and don't knock on the door again," the middle-aged woman said irritatedly.
"We are here not to beg for money, but to talk to the Village Head. May we know if he is home? We have a very important matter to discuss with him that concerns the lives of all the villagers." Khajoor said suppressing his anger.
If Kaal had not held his wrist, he definitely would have rushed in and punched her right on her face. Kaal was also very angry but he did not lose his control and just looked at the middle-aged woman silently.
When the middle-aged woman saw Kaal holding Khajoor's hand, the trace of disgust could be seen in her eyes. She paused for a moment after hearing what Khajoor said and the contempt in her eyes grew even more. She waved her hands as if shooing away stray dogs and said, "Go play your lovey-dovey game somewhere else and don't knock on the door once again otherwise you would be severely punished. Leave now!"
"Madame, please don't close the gat-"
"Yes. Close your gate you fat pig. When death will be only a few meters away from you, only then would you realize that if I hadn't been such a pig and listened to those two, maybe I could have lived a little longer." Khajoor shouted angrily at the middle-aged woman.
When the middle-aged woman heard this, she instantly fumed with anger. She pointed at Khajoor whiteout knowing what to say. Then, after calming down a bit, she said, "I will see what could happen to this, old lady.** I don't need your help neither does this village. So just, get the hell out of here or you will face the consequences of offending the wife of the village head."
"Bu-"
As soon as she said this, she closed the door with a bang without giving Kaal and Khajoor any opportunity to say anything. Kaal and Khajoor were left speechless outside. Both of them tightly clenched their fist. After a while, both of them calmed down and silently went toward the places they worker at.
The middle-aged woman watched them leave from the window and muttered, "Humph. They wanted to talk to the village head about the matter concerning the lives of all the villagers, huh? What a load of bull crap. These peasants don't even blink when lying. It is good that they are gone now."
Kaal and Khajoor did not expect this to happen at all. They thought that when they told the village head about the news of the Spirit Beast, he would definitely praise them and may even reward them. But, the reality was something else. Not only were they unable to meet him, instead they were not taken seriously and were even humiliated. Whenever they thought back of the contempt and disgust in the middle-aged woman's eyes, their bodies shook uncontrollably with anger.
They sighed and went back to work at homes. They had already left everything else to fate.
_________
When Kaal and Khajoor went to Village Head's home, he was not at home and that was the reason that the middle-aged woman opened the gate. She was the wife of the Village Head. As for where he had gone to, then that place would be the most luxurious mansion in the whole Kamdhan village, Josh's mansion.
In the morning when he was sound asleep, someone knocked on his door. He was very irritated at that time because his sleep was disturbed. When he went to the door to curse at the person disturbing his sleep, he saw the person wearing Josh's household uniform. He immediately swallowed his curses. He saluted that person immediately.
"Lord Josh wants you in his mansion now."
That person spoke and left when he ended. The village head was confused. He didn't know why Josh had called for him. He didn't think about it and hurriedly left after washing a bit. When he reached the mansion, the same maid guided him inside who had guided Kaal and Khajoor.
When the Village Head reached the main hall, he saw Josh was sitting not far away from him. He was sitting there very domineeringly with one leg on top of the other. Village Head unconsciously felt like kneeling down from the invisible pressure that was being emanated out of Josh.
"Welcome, Village Head. I have something important to discuss with you."
