As the vines disappeared in the flames the forge grew brighter and all of a sudden all that was left was small blue crystals the size of raindrops. The crystals were a light very light color and they twinkled from the light of the forge.
Anvil was stunned and excited at the same time. He began to think of how to remove the crystal from the forge.
Then he proceeded to walk around the room looking for something to bring them out of the forge he finally found a tool cupboard. He searched for some tongs thinking it would help him get it out of the forge.
As soon as he found them the orb hovered over to him.
"Master you do realize the forge converts anything that has mana to one of those crystals right"
Anvil put his hand on his forehead after he realized how dumb his actions where.
"well then how am I going to get that thing out of there" Anvil snorted
He looked around the room and walked back to his bag "ahh the tool belt maybe I can slide and scoop the crystals out" he tried and tried again since the tool belt was not made of mana it worked like a charm.
Looking at the tiny crystals in his hand 'what do I do? how do I even use this?' Anvil had realized he had no idea how he would use the new crystals that the forge had created.
He tried putting some of his mana into them but nothing happened.
He started to yell out different things like "go water, rain drops, squirt" but nothing happened.
"Hey orb how do I use magic crystals after they are made?" Anvil asked
"Master you have to imbue it with a magical inscription and set it on any item such as a ring or a knife for example. The inscription will define how the crystals are to be used. You have just made low-level water crystals. You can use them to fill water bottles or to make a small temporary water shield or send out a small wave of water but since it is from such low-level magic plants you can't do much with it." The orb replied
Anvil slowly rubbed his chin thinking of what he would do.
He stood there silent a few minutes lost in his thoughts of how he could use them.
Finally deciding what he would do.
He knew the only thing he could do for now was somehow use them on his knife since he had no other materials with him, but he had realized he had no idea how to write the inscriptions, so he then looked at the orb and said.
"Hey, how do I use these inscriptions? I have no clue what they are?" Anvil said
"Master you will need to learn these inscriptions and then carve a certain symbol on the crystals as the controller I access to a minute amount of inscriptions since creation. As we are now connected any knowledge you acquire in the future on the way of magic can be assimilated and can be used to produce new inscriptions but to have access to that function you will need to learn the details of spells cast." The orb replied
Amazed Anvil started to think of the possibilities but for now he was just wondering about his next steps.
"Ok, if I can make a socket for the crystal in my knife I wonder what it can do." Anvil said quietly
"hey if I attach this crystal to my knife what kinds of abilities can you imbue on the crystal?" Anvil asked
"Well since these are very weak crystals you can make it release all of its mana at once and create a small water wave or you can make it release its mana over time making the blade somewhat sharper and able to cut stone. Since these crystals are very low tier they can only do one function and they might also have a chance of turning into dust after uses" The orb responded
Once again Anvil started to rub his chin and thought about what he wanted. After some time, he came to a decision.
"What do I need to inscribe to make it release all of its mana at once?" Anvil asked
"the symbol you need to inscribe is one that looks like this." The orb replied
The orb then hovered over to the wall and it began to glow as a small symbol appeared. Anvil proceeded to study it closely; he took some time memorizing it, burning it into his memory.
He then proceeded to walk over to the tool cupboard and look for a small mallet and a few tiny punches. Walking over to the bench with the tools setting a crystal on a vise he began to engrave the symbol very carefully not to make any mistakes. Luckily it was only one small simple symbol he had to engrave.
As he put the punch to the first crystal and started to hammer very lightly tiny crystal dust began to fall on the ground.
Anvil was focused and moved slow then after a few seconds the crystal shattered.
"Nooo, Damn i should have guessed the was not gonna be easy" Anvil lets out
Looking on the bench next to the vice three small crystals could be seen gleaming slightly.
Anvil proceeds to try again. He gets a little further then last time but the crystal shatters non the less.
"Two left i can't mess this up"
Anvil starts work on one of the two remaining crystals this time he focuses his mana on this tools to make sure they don't make the slightest mistake as he works at a snail's pace hitting the punch with the hammer in between heartbeats as he approaches the final line to the symbol the fatigue of using his mana is getting to him but he manages to finish with a success.
The orb hovered over Anvil as he worked as soon as he saw Anvil finish he enveloped the crystal.
One could see the crystal begin to glow as small inscriptions that looked relatively like the ones around the room started to flow into the crystal.
"Master I will need a drop of your blood to bind this to you much like the amulet after bound only you can use it."
Anvil hesitantly pierced his finger with his knife and a drop of blood covered the crystal and started to flow inside turning the center of the crystal slightly darker than its surrounding.
When the orb had finished it seemed to become a bit dull. He moved over to the blue flame as he hovered back over to the blue flame he started to get back his former glow.
The crystal in the vice now had a slight glow to the engraving on it if someone looked closely they would be able to see small inscriptions flouting inside the gem.
Anvil was very mystified by what had just happened. He looked closer at the crystal and was happy to see it had worked.
Looking at the remaining crystal Anvil felt tired and knew it would be hard for him to engrave it at the moment. Also knowing that he needed to make a socket for the crystal on his knife.
In his excitement Anvil grabbed his knife then proceeded to remove the handle. He then tried heating the knife in the blue forge, but the knife would not heat up. 'oh yeah that's right things with mana'
Anvil then walked to a small forge on the corner of the room and began to heat up the knife this forge's flames where a normal orange glow and he could feel the heat coming from it.
After his knife was glowing hot using the tongs he brought it over to the vise he then began to form a socket just under the handle to hold the gem in place. After everything was done he once again put back the handle and put the gem in the socket of the knife.
"Good, now how do I use it?" Anvil asked
"For its first activation it's always good to give the crystal a name." the orb replied
"hmmm let's see, uhm torrent maybe… uhm no I got it, Raindrop!" Anvil said excitedly
"Great choice, now to release the energy in the crystal you need to focus a thread of your mana into it.
When you're ready to use it send out a pulse of mana to the crystal and it will activate sending out a small wave of water directly from the blade, note you can only use this once then you will have to wait for the crystal to recharge.
The crystal slowly sucks in mana from the air. It will take about half a day to recharge or you could send in some of your mana and It will recharge in minutes. But this increases the risk of the crystal shattering." Said the orb
As Anvil was thinking of how he would use the crystal it dawned on him "wait how do I get back?"
"all you need to do is focus your mana into the amulet and you will return to where you were." The orb replied
"Maybe I shouldn't waste my new ability testing it out here I should probably head back after a short rest" anvil thought.
After a short while Anvil gathered his things leaving the remaining crystal on the bench thinking it would be safer in here he felt like he was ready to go back so he sat down against a wall and said, "I think it's time I head back, wish me luck, until we meet again."
He was hesitant to head back but he knew he couldn't stay. He started to focus his mana into the amulet and it once again began to shine….
