Finn changes course when driving and heads further south to Shinagawa. They immediately went to the hospital there in Shinagawa, the Tokyo-Shinagawa Hospital. Holly carries Rose on her back into the hospital as Zia and Siran carry the Ueda sisters in. After finally getting all three of them admitted to separate emergency rooms, all the rest of the crew could do is wait. At about 2 O'clock in the morning, a nurse came out to the waiting room where most of the team waited. There, the nurse told them that the three of them were moved out of the emergency room earlier and the Ueda sisters were moved into an intensive care room and Rose was now able to leave as long as she remained in a wheelchair.
"We've already done all that we can for her" the nurse says softly, "but I'm afraid that her condition won't improve. She'll be able to leave, but she'll need assistance for the rest of her life. It'll take some time, but she can eventually learn to use a walking stick to get around, but everyday life will be harder for her".
As the nurse said this, another nurse pushed Rose out into the waiting room in a wheelchair. Rose was still and quiet. She was depressed about her conditioned and feared for what the rest of her life held for her. She had bandages wrapped around her eyes and some minor burn scars around her eyes that were barely visible past the bandages. After a long pause of silence, Siran looked up, his eyes showing an immense amount of guilt and frustration. "Can we go see Satomi and Mikoto?" He asked the nurses.
One of the nurses bowed her head slightly as she said "Right this way".
The second nurse pushed Rose along in the wheelchair as the rest followed behind the first nurse into a room where both of the Ueda sisters lay in separate beds, still unconscious. As the nurse stopped Rose in between the two beds, the rest gathered around and the doctor in the room says "Both of their vital signs have improved significantly. They're stable, but I'm afraid they've both slipped into a coma".
Rose remained motionless and quiet as Zia asks "How long until they wake up?".
Shaking his head lightly, the doctor replies "Could be a couple hours, a couple days or even a couple weeks. That's up to how strong they are".
"Can we wait in this room?" Siran asks the doctor.
Feeling sympathetic, the doctor says "You can even sleep in this room, if you're comfortable with not having a bed to lay in". After he says that, the doctor leaves quietly and the two nurses follow behind him.
As it got quiet, Rose finally begins to speak. Without turning her head, she asks Zia "I've been wondering for a little while now and I wanted to ask before I completely forget because I'm blind now. Why do you have two different colored eyes, Zia?". The voice she spoke in was soft and showed sorrow and stress very clearly.
"It's a disease" Zia replies softly, "it's called Heterochromia Iridum. It's hereditary, and has run in my family for generations".
After thinking to herself for a short while, Rose asks "Does it make it harder to see?".
"Not really" Zia says. "Most people just think it's weird, so I used to try and hide it all the time".
After that, it got quiet and no one began talking anymore for the rest of the night. After a while of sitting in the room, the crew falls asleep one by one in the chairs they sit in. Rose being the last one to sleep.
The crew stayed in the hospital for another day as nothing new happened. Both of the Ueda sisters were still in a coma. They spent another night sleeping in the chairs. After waking up in the afternoon the next day after, Siran looks over at the beds were Satomi and Mikoto lay. Satomi's eyes were open, much to Siran's surprise. Siran nearly jumps out of his chair in surprise and causes the rest of the team to wake up. As they all wake up and look at Satomi silently, Satomi looks at the rest of them and gives off a weak smile.
"You're awake!" Zia panics.
Satomi tried to speak at first but then coughed really hard. After clearing her throat, she asks in a very weak voice "Where am I, and how long have I been out?".
"You're at the Tokyo-Shinagawa Hospital" Siran says in a calm tone. "You've been unconscious for about 43 hours".
Slowly realizing her situation, Satomi slowly turns to Mikoto, who is still unconscious. "Wait- what... what happened?" She asks.
"That's what we'd like to know" Alex says.
The doctor comes back in again and begins to smile. "You're awake" he says in a calm and happy voice.
Trying to sit up, Satomi asks "What about Mikoto?".
Walking over to Mikoto's bedside, the doctor says "Try and take it easy. She hasn't woken up yet. You're the first one to wake up".
Satomi looks at Mikoto's unconscious body and sees the bruise marks still on her face, including the bruises on her neck. Starting to panic, she says "What happened to my sister!?".
The doctor gently presses her back down against the bed and says "Don't get so worked up so quick. You've just woken up from a coma, you need to take it slowly".
Letting out a deep sigh, Satomi lays back down and looks over at the crew again. After a short pause, Rose says to Satomi "I'm glad you're okay".
Trying to tilt her head to see Rose a little more clearly, Satomi asks "What happened to your eyes?".
Rose grips the arm rests of her wheelchair tightly and doesn't say anything for a moment. "Don't worry about me" she says, "what's important is that you're still alive".
Almost immediately after Rose finished speaking, a loud repetitive beeping could be heard from the bed next to Satomi's bed. It was coming from Mikoto's bed. As the doctor rushed to assist Mikoto, everyone fell into a quiet panic.
Frantically moving, the doctor shouts "Her vitals are dropping!". The doctor tried to rush everyone out of the room, but everyone refused to move. The two nurses rush into the room as fast as possible, one with a shot that they promptly put into Mikoto's left arm. As hard as they tried, the repetitive beeping changed into a louder single beep. The beep didn't stop, but rather just rang throughout the room. Everyone's heart dropped at the sound.
"Her heart stopped!" One of the nurses shout.
The doctor pulls out defibrillators and charges electricity between them before pressing both of the defibrillators against Mikoto's chest. Her unconscious body jumps. As everyone holds their breath, hoping for the best, nothing happens. The long beep continues to ring. The doctor charges up the defibrillators one more time and presses it against Mikoto's chest. Once again, her unconscious body jumps up but nothing happens. After a couple seconds of waiting, Satomi cries out "No... NO! Not my only sister! She can't die! She's my only sister!".
With his veins visibly growing in anger, the doctor says in a rough voice to one of the nurses "Call the time of death".
As one of the nurses begins to check a watch on her left wrist, Siran suddenly gets up behind them and pushes them out of the way. Everyone's breathing grew heavier and heavier. Rose was biting her bottom lip in anger, trying to prevent herself from crying. Siran raises one hand as the air around him grew heavier. The skin on his hand grew several shades darker and his finger nails seemed to almost grow into claws. He takes off his sunglasses with his other hand as he approaches Mikoto. His eyes changed from its usual color of green, and into a bright red color that seemed to almost glow even in the sunlight. Siran presses his one dark hand against Mikoto's chest, as if it were a defibrillator. Mikoto's body once again jumped, but a little more this time. Her body slightly rose off of the bed, almost as if being magnetized to Siran's hand as a surge of power goes through her body. Mikoto's body flattens against the bed again, with the loud beep continuing. After a long shared single heavy breath between the crew, the doctor, and the nurses, the beeping stops. Everyone, including Siran jumps at the silence. After a single second that seemed to take an hour to pass, another short beep was heard. Then another... and another.
Frozen in place, one of the nurses say "Her vitals... are coming back! She's alive!".
Everyone lets go of their breath, as a sigh of relief sweeps through the room. "She's not out of the woods yet" the doctor says, "she slipped back into a coma, so she's going to need more time".
Satomi starts crying tears of joy and frustration at the same time. As her tears flowed uncontrollably, the doctor turns to the crew and says "We'll need everyone to leave the room for a little while. You'll probably need some time to relax, so I'd suggest getting out of the hospital and finding somewhere to relax for at least a little while. You've all been here for a while, so you'll probably need it".
Agreeing to leave for a while, the crew takes Rose and leaves the hospital. Siran had put his sunglasses back on before they left the room. Wondering what to do for now, Finn says "Guess we can't go back to the hotel in Shibuya?".
"We're pretty far from Shibuya right now" Holly replies.
Finn, who is currently pushing Rose around in her wheelchair, asks Rose "Is there anything you'd want to do for now?".
"I'd like to have my vision back" Rose replies, "and my the rest of our friends back too. I couldn't stand losing anymore friends".
"We've done all we can for now" Zia says softly. "We have to leave the rest in the hands of the doctors, otherwise, we'd just be in the way". After she says that, she's looks at Siran and asks "By the way, what did you do back there?".
Looking up at Siran too, Holly says "That's definitely not any spell I'm familiar with".
Clenching his fists lightly, Siran says "I did the only thing I could do".
"Well" Zia says, "it saved Mikoto, so I guess that's all that matters. Is your hand okay?".
"My hand is fine" Siran says calmly as he looks at his hand that has now turned back to its normal form.
The crew traveled around for a while before coming across Hamakawa Park. There they rest for a while, trying to relax but failing to let go of their stress. Failing to find consolation through nature and the relaxed environment, they eventually returned to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital again, one of the nurses came out to tell them "Mikoto is still in a coma, but Satomi should be ready to be released as early as tomorrow. We just need the time to make sure her basic bodily functions are normal or at least functioning. She'll be released from the hospital tomorrow, but Mikoto will remain under surveillance until she wakes up from her coma". She then bows, and leaves as the crew remains in the waiting room. After the next day arrives, Satomi enters the waiting room while the rest of the crew were still sleeping in the chairs. She wakes them up by lightly slapping Siran repeatedly on the face until he wakes up.
"I'm hungry" Satomi says, "lets go get something to eat". Her eyes were still swollen from crying, and she was dressed in her normal clothes again. "The doctor said Mikoto is stable and she should be fine" Satomi continues, "so I just want to go eat and forget about all this. The food here is terrible".
Siran, still feeling sleepy, nods his head and gets up slowly. They travel around for a while before stopping at a convenience store and buying some snacks to eat rather than going to a restaurant. The crew was generally silent. Everyone had something on their minds, generally all thinking about the same few things. Rose's blindness, Satomi's injuries, Mikoto's condition, and the general feeling of guilt for allowing any of these things to happen. The hours passed slowly, then the days passed. Little to nothing happened amongst the group. Everyone was still anxiously waiting to find out what would become of Mikoto. Everyone was endlessly restless, yet deprived of energy. On top of all of that, they still had The Ly'Lum to deal with.
