"That could only happen with a man," he said, looking at her with a gentle smile.
"Are you not a man?" she finally asked out of curiosity, "A female general?"
"Who knows?" he stood up, pulling back the curtain, and maids filed in, arranging a small table on the bed and setting out the food.
The food was plentiful but not very delicate in appearance. Bright red plates contained red and white minced pork that seemed undercooked, with a hint of blood, reminding one of everything seen in the dungeon below ground.
Jin Siyu served her with a smile, saying, "This is our famous 'Snow Pearl Meat Soup' from Da Yue. Don't let the looks deceive you. It's actually cooked to perfection, with a lot of protein steamed over the stove, very tender. You shouldn't miss it."
She sat on the bed, staring blankly at the dish while a maid kneeled by the bed, ladling some soup into a bowl to serve her.
She resolutely turned her head away.
"I can't eat it."
