I woke up the next morning well rested but pissed. How dare he! We were going to have to talk and I was going to place a few rules of my own. I Took a bath and got dressed. I was disappointed to know that women here only wore dresses.. I had a few choice words for that but held back. I didn't plan on staying here for long.
I found Rune sparring with another man in the western garden and my anger cooled a bit. Watching him in action made me rethink pissing him off. As much as I wanted to.. I was also aware of my own limitations. "I wish I knew how to fight.." I say under my breath. "I can teach you." Fig says proudly and I give him a small smile "I appreciate it Fig but I really need to learn how to fight."
Fig was upset I didn't believe him and grabbed my nose "Listen up! Not only can I teach you how to fight I can also teach you a fighting style that is no longer known. I may be fluffy and cute but I'm also a spirit guardian. Don't look down on me." He says with a huff. My eyes were round with shock. Thinking about what he said.. "I'm sorry Fig.. dumb human remember?" I said with a small smile.
"Can you really teach me?" I ask hopeful. He slowly smiles as his black little eyes twinkle with joy. "Of course I can! I'll have you master it while teaching you how to use your magic. The two go hand in hand." Fig said happily. "What goes hand in hand?" Rune asked causing Fig and I to jump. He and the other man had come over.
"Nothing.. I came to speak to you about what happened last night." I said as sternly as I could. His eyebrows came down and almost met "Good, because you will never go near it again. Understood?" He said firmly. "Why not?" I ask him confused. Why was he so set against me going in the water? "Because I said so." He said between his teeth leaning in. "Threatening me is going to get you nowhere. Why don't you want me going into the water? I've heard it can help people."
I can see his jaw working as he finally says "Yes, it can help people but it can also kill. Do you know magic? Protective magic? Any kind of magic for that matter? No. And without that, you will die. Stay away from it or I will lock your pretty little ass in your room." Rune said with a growl. I step back in shock. Lock me in my room? What was I? A child?
"Look, I don't know who you think you are but you can't tell me what to do or threaten to lock me up!" I said angrily. He laughed and say "Love, you're in my castle.. in my world. I can do whatever I like. Go ahead and try me." He says with a clear challenge in his golden eyes. I have never met someone so, so, so PIGHEADED! "Ugh..." I turn around and storm off. Too angry to stay still.
What he said was wrong but at the same time, he was right. This wasn't my world and I was staying in his place.. Even if what he said was true it didn't mean I had to like it. I turn to look back as I walk away and catch him grinning from ear to ear. Arghh! I want to punch him in his smug face! I stomp off until I find a small pond. I sit down and huff.
"What he said was right you know.." Fig says as he jumps off my shoulder. I don't say anything as angry tears threaten to fall. Fig moves closer and puts his little paw on my knee and says "I can help you become stronger. When you become stronger you won't have to listen to anyone." He says trying to make me feel better. I wipe my eyes and smile at him. "When can we start?" I ask in a shaky voice. "That's my girl!" Fig says as he jumps. "We start now."
I may be ignorant of this world and weak but it didn't mean I had to stay that way. I needed to go back home and I needed to be able to stand my own ground. Right now I was like a child. Full of more questions than answers and if left alone I'd probably starve and die. Just like a child. I stand up and look at Fig and say "Let's do this."
